Hi mark, is it normal when you taking the 5th port off and the whole thing including the swivel turret come off? I have an Apeks dst first stage same exactly like on the video. The other day I was trying to install a long hose for my second stage and I tried to use the fifth port once i opened the whole thing came out. Sorry about my English. #askmark
The first thing you need to do is ensure you have the 5th port version of the DST. The 5-port version has a raised section with a hex nut shape and the 5th port plug in the end. The 4-port version will be flat with a recess for a hex key. If the end of your 1st stage is flat then you need to have the 5th port kit fitted to your 1st stage. If you do have the 5-port version then you should only need a hex key to remove the port plug. If that unscrews the entire port then use a wrench to secure the nut. It will make more sense in the video...
Both second stage regulators have succumb to dry rot for the plastic pieces. can The exterior plastic pieces be replaced? 1 Aqualung second stage. 1 U s divers Impulse Second stage. 0:49
Every part of a 2nd stage is replaceable, it's whether you can get the part or if it's cheaper to just buy a fresh 2nd stage. The Impulse is pretty old. You can bring the regs to your local AquaLung dealer but, I doubt they'll be able to source a replacement body. Manufacturers sometimes offer buy-back schemes where you can get money off a new regulator if you trade in your old ones, might be worth asking.
#AskMark : Hi Mark, thanks for all the great videos and tips ! I tend to be perfectly boyant without any weights, so I dive without any. But would you consider it a safety problem not to have any ditchable weights on me ? The only advice I got so far from an instructor was to consider moving to dry-suit diving, in order to add a bit of lift so I can then add some weigths.
Your main focus should be a set up that allows you to become positively buoyant if your BCD fails during a dive. A drysuit or a redundant bladder BCD would be your best options. Wetsuits lose buoyancy at depth so, a drysuit is usually the best choice.
Great advise

That's like asking which side of a circle is up. Hose routing and vertical projection should dictate which way is best for each individual.
A circle is a two dimensional object. There isn’t really an up or down- yet… there is a top down and side view.
I don't think he is asking/using long hose configuration. 🤔
Yeah but, then you just exchange the long hose primary for the octo
