Hey brother, came here from watching your build video from tech source. But coulndt help but notice you were making note of needing a lot of gain to get this microphone up to usable levels.
just wanted to mention that DYNAMIC microphones require some thing called a cloud lifter in order to bring the mic up to usable volumes PRE - audio interface in order to bring the gain up in a way that wont cause as much distortion that you maybe experiencing on your audio recording.
this is much difference than a condensor that would require phantom power which is generally using 48v phantom power to bring the mic up to a usable range.
i dont know much about the AM8 mic itself but this is a general rule around most dynamic microphones based on the way they operate.
with that said, i enjoyed the video and hope you keep making more content ! production quality is great keep it up!
Thanks so much for the feedback. I appreciate you coming by. 💜
I've used the AM8 with my wave xlr and it worked great. I think the biggest issue with the SC1 is that it's a "budget-friendly" option so the pre-amps aren't quite as good as a higher end option. Most dynamic mics shouldn't need a cloud lifter on a good interface. I've even seen the SM7B tested on a Wave XLR with no cloud lifter and it work great, but like I said I think the primary issue as a budget oriented option it just doesn't have the hardware to get great sound quality

Hi! Please tell me does the am8 sound better with this device?
The AM8 sounds really good on any good interface
@@CGamer76 But what about with the SC1 and without?
As a stand alone mic in USB mode it sounds really good. If you use it with the SC1 audio interface in XLR mode it sounds good as well.
