13 years is a long time that means they met probably in high school. It does happen you go from teenager to being 30 and things change. Some people grow together some grow apart. I dont think he broke up for any bl reason. He's already successful and we know he's straight so what would be the point? To be together that long and not be married I think is a big sign that neither wanted to take it to that next level. He probably spends long hours on set and lord knows where he has to travel for that and events. It wasn't "illegal" in the sense that it was considered a crime, it just wasn't legally recognised in Thai law until now, like in most Asian countries (only Taiwan and Nepal had legal marriage equality before the Thai law was ratified)
Difference between religion and legal rights. For most LGBTXQ+ its not about religion/belief it's about legal rights such as property and inheritance, making health decisions for your partner and/or legality around children etc. (over legal blood relatives who would be their heirs otherwise).
For Thailand, it wasn't actually due to religion. It's just the traditional Asian's way of thinking. More of a culture thing than religion. Thank God it finally happened when it became the first Southeast Asian country to recognize same sex marriage legally. The whole of Thailand was ready for it except for they government and/or the Thai royal family.
