I'm an IGBO trader in Alaba Lagos and I must confess that the Lagos State government are doing the right thing.
My brother what they are doing is not the right time what is wrong is wrong the government should focus on developing the state not demolishing people property it's very bad
@@abiodunemmanuel5447 Very good point. It is not the right time to add more suffering to people. Creating hardship and homeless. How does these people responsible sleep at nights knowing fully well that they have send the owners of demolished properties to their early graves. Hence most people feel is targeted demolision. There is alway a expirig dates in everything but the consequences is what matters. Kudos to Sanwolu it is your time and tune.
@@abiodunemmanuel5447
How do you develop the state when people build on primary drainage channel?
I do civil and hydraulic design and I can tell you that blocking primary drainage channel that takes water into the lagoon will cause serious flooding.
Those properties needs to go
@@abdulwasiujegede3923 brother do just say develop in nigeria let not deceive ourself nothing like develop everything is corruption this is not the right times for all this
Yariba claiming Ibo
The Developers should be held accountable, the government should assist these house owners get justice
God bless you bros, You didn't allow your ethnicity blind you to the reality of the situation..i wish more Nigerians think like you.
Exactly, because Africa has become a continent of politics and tribalism that we fail so many times to see ir hear the truth
With people like you I believe we still have hope in our country. I love your in-depth analysis of the whole demolition issues in Lagos state. People from the east especially believe they are the target because they didn't vote for the APC government which isn't true. How can a sensible person buy and construct a building on a waterway??? It doesn't make sense at all. And to think that we don't have laws in Nigeria is a lie. Our laws are always docile but once you are courageous enough to pinch it ,it becomes active and alive. We cannot keep doing the wrong things as a citizen and keep blaming the government for doing nothing. Is it the government that blocks canals with structures, is it the government that dump refuse inside drainages, is it the government that urinate indiscriminately on the road when they have made provisions for public toilets. Let us start helping ourselves and not the government by doing it the right way.
Your explanation of this issue was so detailed and accurate. We need more videos like this out there to change the narrative of tribalism that is gaining so much ground.
You did an excellent job on this video; Lagos State government could in fact use it to educate those who need to know about this situation. Well done! Cheers.
I appreciate this.
❤
Your explanation are detailed but what were they(govt agency)doing when all these constructions work was going on?
@koffibaba8265 did you listen to him when he said no building approval from government. And secondly those field officials who ought to stop those projects whilst they were still work in progress get bribed heavily in the usual Nigerian way just like the other big fella kept pestering the commissioner to allow them to contribute money to 'mitigate' the situation, in other word 'bribe him'.
Fair play. Nigerian must learn not to cut corners or disregard lawful process
I need to give you a big hug. My property at Kubwa was demolished by El Rufai in 2007, This forced me to relocate. I was in Lagos and my Agents were cutting corners in Abuja. If Nigeria was working properly, believe me, a lot of people will suffocate.
God bless you for this. I saw an IG post earlier and saw people saying it's targeted at Igbos.... words can not explain the disgust i felt at the level of stupidity, tribalism and sentiments existent in people's minds. Thank you again
You are a true journalist or blogger. You have an appreciation of the importance of truth in public discourse. God bless you. If only those spreading lies can learn from you.
One of the most intelligent conversations I have seen about this issue
What is the need of all this explanation.
@@immyammy7185because some people are claiming that the demolitions are a tribalistic act. And, it doesn't matter how much the matter is explained, these people will still believe all that nonsense. For them, everything starts and ends with tribalism.
This is an unbiased and objective reporting. Its about time Nigerians start thinking straight instead of trivializing real issues.
I love what the lagos government are doing kudos to the governor
Lagos government must continue to clean up the state.
It is very unclean and unorganized. Thank you government for caring for the people.
I stand to be corrected. This explains a lot. It does not look good at all. How can people intentionally build like this with their money knowing fully well that they are puting up illegal structures? I am surprised some people are not actually arrested for these impediments. There should be an investigation into this matter and those who violated the ordinance and rules of the masterplan should be prosecuted. That's one way to save people from themselves. Can you imagine the type of mosquitos that will be breeding in those areas?
Bro, you cleared up a lot ofquestions and issues. I thank you immensely for that.
I can’t believe you have only 2 videos bro, you explain things so well.
Where were you since, keep the great job👍👍👍
More coming.
Thank you 🙏🏾
This is the best and detailed channel I’ve seen as regards this Ikota issue. People should stop whipping ethnic sentiments
You did an excellent job breaking this down. After watching it, it is clear to me that they were not targeted, and actually broke the law. They even wanted to bribe the commissioner in public? What?
Lagos needs serious estate and land planning, can't develop with these uncontrollably spate of houses. To combat flooding, govt mist demolish all those houses along the canal. We've been complaining of floods without knowing the these guys are the cause.
Good analysis nwannaa
Brother, I am really grateful for this wonderful and insightful analysis. Your illustrations give no room for further contention. Some of our money miss roads brothers feel they can buy their way out of every situation. This is an eye-opener to those who think we have no laws. The same is going on in the Abulado area of OjO LGA... Lagos is swamp land, hence when the government master plan isn't duly followed you see the outcome in the floodings and drainage blockages we experience in these areas. Nigerians should learn to respect our laws, that is where the real change and transformation comes.
Bless you.
What a detailed video, nothing but the truth was shared in this video. Nigerians and how we think we should bribe our ways out of doing the right thing, instead of actually doing the right thing. Welldone for this explanation
They are the ones that protesting against government on media every day but all of them are corrupt
Problem is scrupulous of people working for Lagos state government and indiscipline of our people wanting things at all cost. When problems arise they call names
This was very helpful. Seeing the news about these demolitions from overseas was heartbreaking, but getting a breakdown of what happened and why was enlightening.
Thank you for being wise
Thank you. Abeg help circulate. I love my Igbo friends here in US
I love your authoritative confirmation that the buildings in question do not have approval.
God bless you for this. The question now remains how this lands were sold without reviewing the masterplan for the area.
OMG, watching this makes me want to cry of joy. Because I had lost hope in Nigeria before for our ethno-religious problem. But with people like you, I believe we still have hope.
It gladdens my heart that this video originated from an Ibo person.
In a cosmopolitan city like Lagos, its always a melting pot of tribes, cultures and ethnic but it amazes me how Ibo people always play the victim game about everything even when its crystal clear they flouted the rules.
My candid advice is that most ibos should see things objectively and jettison any rivalry with Yorubas that only exist in their imagination.
As a Lagosian, i will be more than happy if Agberos are taken off our roads despite the fact that 90% of them are from my tribe.
It's only the guilty that'd feel attacked when things like this happen.
Were Igb-os also targeted Otti was demolishing buildings in ABA market.
i think we urgently need such an official in Ghana here to carry out the needed actions and bring about some sort of sanity in the system around us here.
Wow, thank you! I was becoming quite worried with this newly emerging tribalism narrative.
Your explanation was on point. You answered every question before I even posed them. You are a great communicator and teacher!
Great job!
I feel sorry for the people affected. All that destruction was disheartning to see. I wish we could build as quickly.
This is my first time on this channel, and I have learnt a lot, so I am subscribing because I prefer channels that empower and improve my life than gossip channels.
Objective analysis thank you for clear explanation. It’s apparent that even having a C of O does not guarantee you to simply start building. If the project does not have the approval you cannot build & if you do Na @ your own risk. You can never obtain approval on an untitled Land. If there is No C of O, No Governor consent, No Allocation you can’t get an approval. I wish the homeowners that lost or will be loosing their properties best of luck!
Non of those buildings can have C of O
@@francisgodwin3958 You are correct. There is a RUclipsr who went to the estate and talked to owners. One mentioned that some parts of the land is not covered within the boundaries of excision. It’s sad!
Thanks for the update, it's more informative.
Clearly! Now it makes sense! They are even trying to bribe not understanding the seriousness of the risks involved.. thank you for the detailed information 😊❤
Thank you for the information and clarifications. Wrong can not be right
This is the video I was looking for. Thanks for the detailed information.
A man of calibre & good morals, who is taking his time and initiative to look at this situation objectively and explain to concerned Nigerians, worldwide! Thank you very much o jare. That principled Commissioner is the best man for this job, aimed to rectify the impending problems caused by blocked drainage paths. People just building houses without correct permission and surveying, is wrong. De-corrupt Nigeria!!! Stop bribing our officials. Do things correctly from the start to prevent loss of lives and property in future. Thank you Duru Bond for this coverage.
Well done and thank you. We need voice like yours.
This the best explanation of the Lekki demolition. Thanks
Very good job explaining the isses. Thanks very much
My brother thanks for this explanation am so happy you’re equally an Igbo person like me initially the narrative of tribal demolition was all I heard until now, ndigbo be wise and spend your money which the whole world acknowledges you have wisely.
Well informed video for those that will buy lands or get already built home. Thank you!
I really like this video. As soon as I saw the title I had to watch it, and I am glad you did not disappoint.
I've subscribed because you told the truth!! I'm proud of you!
Thanks for sharing this, it gives me clarity and much needed closure
I hope they don’t rebuild after the demolition. The government Ned to widen the canals to make sure there is no more encroachment. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Thanks for this detailed and well balanced explanation of the issue.
I'm VERY impressed by your detailed breakdown of this subject matter... stellar job 👌🏽... you hardly see Nigerian videos like this, cause most take the easy/lazy path to get answers and rarely do a detailed and systematic/logical breakdown of things. kudos 👏. (If only the govt did a vid like this to make ppl understand)
Thank you very much for this very instructive information. God bless you more.
Thank you for this analysis of the situation, this is the best so far….
I have no qualms if these developers are flouting the law, then they must have these illegal properties demolished. This is the same thing Soludo had to do in Onitsha. Planning is key and people must get clearance for their buildings.
This is beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much for your clarification and education.
Wonderful explanation 👏 👌 👍
I want to appreciate you for what you did in this video, this is my first time seeing this and brings good closure to us all, it's sad someone gave them rights to build on a canal , thanks alot
Brother you doing a good job by opening our eyes. Am also your brother from IMO state. Mbano!
quite the expository piece!!. well done
One of the best video I have watched on youtube, very informative.
Best video I've seen explaining the ongoing demolitions. Still very unfortunate for the affected people though.
You just gained a sub.
Well done👏🏽👏🏽
Sir, you have done a very comprehensive review and an unbiased report of the situation over there.
Thank you.
Their long time cries all started when they think everything and their ways can be brided out...like I knew before you showed the video of one of the owners with the commissioner, trying to repeat the same bribing process that got them into the mess again in the first place...while some others suffer the consequences of their "who cares" attitude.
And you are very Right...no protest will ever happen since they never listened and cared...since they don't have Approvals and Building Permits...since they acquired and did all that illegally.
It is very essential that investors and home buyers play smart by doing their homework and due diligence like he said...seek professional guidance and stop playing smart with money illegally...save yourselves the Traumas.
We will always have times like this.
God bless Nigeria.
Thank you, for clearing the air.
My man thank you. You are a true Nigerian. Truth is a very powerful force.
Thanks for sharing.
Good job. Continue your work with integrity
I love this weldon bro..... Very informative and educative
Thank you Duru for sharing this! I have been watching a lot of Lagos real estate videos, although skeptically. It is so sad that it is the disease of corruption or sometimes ineptness, not just in the government, but in everyday people too, that is making the lives of ordinary Nigerians unnecessarily difficult. Please keep the videos coming.
Very informative, good job 👍🏾
Thank you very much. This is very detailed and informative
This is a very educative and well made video. My thoughts are with those bearing the impacts of flooding and demolitions at different ends of the issues.
Thanks so much for this clarification.
Fantastic job, Bond! Your clear and concise breakdown of the situation was incredibly enlightening for all of us. Thank you for taking the time to educate us with your expertise.
My pleasure!
You just gained another follower. Nice job
You are on point my brother.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us all. Bless you young man.
Thanks so much for this interesting video. We shouldn't politicize everything. God bless you.
What a comprehensive analysis. Good job bro ❤
Or is it that do Igbo do illegal stuff. Therefore enforcing the law means targeting them.
They are lousy, big mouthed people. Everything is always against them.
Clean well researched journalism. Kudos bro
As an igbo man being this unbiased ,I duff my cap for u am impressed!
thanks for the update, you've done a very good job sir. now its clear to us that are in diaspora. monetizing everything will destroy the whole system but thank God for some stubborn ministers that value what is right over money. my sympathy goes to the affected owners too, its a huge loss though. but its for the good of the whole community afterwards.
Thanks
Most of them knew it was illegal before they even bought the land they just believed that money can by everybody so I didn’t sympathize with such people
I will rather call such ministers/commissioners, God fearing and God-filled to 'some degrees' because they're almost the same. The major problem with infrastructural development setbacks and stagnation in Nigeria is the People/Citizens. And unfortunately when you have such selfish people like those in this video (building on canals/waterways) who ONLY care about their own pockets and family, then how do we expect there to be development in the country.
Excellent work bro
👌🏾 Thanks for explaining the reason! Ah Nija..
Duru! Na Man you be! Keep up the good work!
Well done. God bless you for this video.
Well understood now, thanks my guy.
Thanks for the detailed analysis of the situation.
you gave very detailed information...thank you
Great job, exactly what I have been looking for, hope incan share on my property page , thanks
Ebuka this is so informative
Wow. Good explanation thanks alot.
Thanks for taking your time out to put more light on this situation before it becomes another tribal BS from ignorance and manipulation. I think with the way Nigeria is moving now, people will start understanding that it's no longer business as usual. Before getting involved in any transaction, the legal aspect should be looked into and due diligence properly carried out.
For the first time since the governor took over, i am giving him my flowers for choosing a no nonsense commissioner. God bless Nigeria.
You are good in this work my brother
Thank you for this video....🎉
Thank you for clarity. 🙏
Your analysis is very balanced. 👍🏻
Educative content ❤
Thanks for informing us
Weldone bro, very clear video and explanation
Thank you Nnamdi 💪🏾
I don't know how lawful issues are dealt with in Lagos Nigeria, but the lawyers dealing with each property purchase should have access to the plans and rights issued by the government of the said land/s.
That is the main purpose of engaging lawyers to carry out a land and title searches.
If there is such a confirmation that due diligence was done, then the liability falls on the government.
Plus, with this type of situation, a liability insurance should be added to the transaction cost to protect the interested buyers on all future transactions.
This is a great analysis of the problem, as I always wondered why there was so much flooding in these areas. Now it makes perfect sense.
Peace and Love ✊🏿 ❤️
Heavens bless you for this video, 🙏 🙏 🙏 I will share to everyone!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Good job explaining. I will advise the govt to arrest and prosecute all those who approved these buildings and allowed it to stay for so long. That will show that the govt is acknowledging the role her officials played. It's unfair to just punish only the home owners.
But our people have to learn to do things the right way. We love to cut corners too much.
We need principled officials like the commissioner to enforce the law. All the emotional blackmail will amount to nothing. Nigeria needs a functioning and prosperous Lagos open to all tribes and international investors.
But who approved these structures in the first place? Ehh?. Principled official
@@elizabethomoruyi9769 No vex. When you are building your own house, bribe an official and build on a drainage channel. Then you will know you are on your own.
Did you not hear Duru's explanation of unscrupulous government staff that take bribes? Unfortunately, Nigerian mentality is so prevalent with bribes, that we think we can make any illegal activity (done knowingly or unknowingly) go away by some sort of manipulation, financial or otherwise. This is why people need to be principled. This mentality is rife and has consequences either directly to us or another person. A person may have even bought the property from a devious developer that knew what they were doing was wrong but they didn't disclose it. So we can have to carry out due diligence when buying properties now (what is sad, sometimes information is not readily available). May Nigeria not happen to us!@@elizabethomoruyi9769
