Stanwell Spinney Revisited - March 2024

- Talk a walk with through one Wellingborough's great green spaces. Stanwell Spinney is situated on the north western corner of Wellingborough on Gleneagles housing estate. The wood has natural water sources feeding all manners of life creating one magical wood to walk through. It leads onto Hoy Lake Park which is only a stone's throw away for residents of Glenvale Park so they may wish to walk this one themselves. Stanwell Spinney is also home to the Stan Well, just one of 16 named wells here in Wellingborough. Sadly however with the building of the Gleneagles estate, the well was capped and built over. Only a culvert exists now.
The sewage spill at the end of the video I have reported but would be great if you could put in your reports to. Multiple reports cause swifter action by Environmental services.

our little bolt hole was in the copse which now is opposite the garden centre on the road from sywell to harrowden and wellingborough. that stream feeds the reservoir near earls barton . ;caroline
Hi Purple, considering that Wellingborough has soooo many springs it is a real pity that it is not still considered a "spa town" like Buxton. More needs to be made of this natural heritage that Wellingborough overlooks I think.
