The phrase "haw, haw, haw, haw" is an homage to a brilliant and seminal Black blues guitarist, John Lee Hooker, and his song "Boom Boom." Damn good song, well worth a listen.
Tough call, but JLH is my favorite bluesman.
Good suggestion.
Everyone needs to get Messin’ With the Hook!
isnt the riff also from boom boom
@@brettg274 John Lee or any of the three Kings. Hard to pick 1. Lately it’s been Albert King for me.
One of the biggest rabbit holes you can even crawl into... Legends. Do brown sugar next
Three guys in the band two with long beards, one with no beard, and the guy with no beard is named Frank Beard.
Should check out their song waiting for the bus/Jesus left Chicago.
I was gonna say that. Good on you!
And follow it up with some "Cheap Sunglasses"!!
Weirdly I've thought it was James Beard for at least like 5 years now, but I KNOW I knew it was Frank before. The hell?
Jesus left Chicago...strait up bad azz
@@yesitsamessgarden YES! Gotta be the one with Waitin' For The Bus attached though.
My dad skipped one of his college classes because he heard these guys practicing in the auditorium of his college in central Texas.... he hid in the back row just listening to these guys. He said best hour of my minimal college experience. This was back when these guys were still small time I believe or right when the hit it big
La Grange is a town in Texas. There was a brothel just outside a town called "The Chicken Ranch". This is what the song is about. The movie musical starring Dolly Parton THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS is about this place. Billy Givens is a big fan of blues singer JOHN LEE HOOKER and the sounds he makes are the signature style of Hooker. There are many ZZ Top songs in the blues style of MISSISSIPPI DELTA BLUES or sometimes referred to as MEMPHIS BLUES. WAITIN' ON THE BUS/JESUS DONE LEFT CHICAGO and BLUE JEAN BLUES are prime examples of this. In the 1960s Billy Givens opened for Jimmi Hendrix.
Ur right, its s song about a House of ill repute( WHOREHOUSE). I love it. It was in business for over a 100 years. Called it the chicken ranch because, during the depression they couldn't afford to pay the ladies. So they payed them with chickens. There was chickens everywhere. Therefore chicken ranch. 🤣😂🤣
I remember when Marvin Zindler (Dom DeLoise's character) broke the story.
Somebody lifted the Chicken Ranch from Lagrange and brought the building up to Dallas to make a bar on Greenville. The bar stools were fiberglass legs. Somehow the kitsch didn't work and it didn't last six months.
It's Gibbons, not Givens.
@@Irish29204 Wow, I do too...Marvin Zindler, Eyewitness news.. Consolidated smokehouse in la Grange had the best beef jerky..
They’re more about the killer blues riffs, guitar and beat. LaGrange had a famous house of ill repute!
It's still around. It's called the Chicken Ranch. It's totally legal.
It was around for many years until it was raided by the authorities, by order of a religious zealot governor, who apparently had some skeletons in his closet. It was illegal back then and still is, unless they later legalized prostitution. I thought only Nevada had legalized it.
Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers has Billy and Dusty both singing so you might enjoy that
YAS!!
SECOND!
Absofuckinlutely
Also Party on the Patio 🤘
Sharp Dressed Man, Tush, Legs, Tube Snake Boogie, Cheap Sunglasses 😎 just head right into ZZ Top rabbit hole and you’ll love it, their songs will get stuck in your head and you’ll probably start recognizing their popular songs in commercials or even as elevator music!
Their song Tush should be next.
Heck yeah!! ✌
I was going to say cheap sunglasses I love that song and no one seems to react to it
@@LA-fz5qw - Ooooh, good one, too!!
Yes!!!!!
Especially now, with that 69th like I just added lol
RIP Dusty. I love that they honored Dusty's wishes with continuing the band and are keeping the music going. One of my favorite bands from an early teen up into my 50's their music does not disappoint. One of my favorite side notes for Billy Gibbons is when he drops into a tv show guest appearance as something more than a musical guest but actually made at least a little part of the story as he did in Bones. He plays the protective hard ass father type just as you'd expect from an old Texas, hard knocks, rocker, hot rodder that he is.
ZZ Top is a very deep rabbit hole bro, I don't even want to start naming songs there are so many, but earlier stuff is generally better. The best track on Eliminator album is Got Me Under Pressure
I can’t wait to hear more I love their sound and their style
Excellent track, but for me it was a tossup between "Legs" and "Thug".
In 1975 or 76 our group was heading to the ZZ Top concert all pumped up. We loved ZZ and could hardly wait. The opening band was Kiss. None of our group had ever heard of them. After the show, all we could talk about. was Kiss. I looked for their record the next day but was told it hadn't been released yet. The rest, as they say, is history. I'm 68 years old and still remember it . What a treat - ZZ and Kiss together for the night.
I would also recommend their songs "Sharp dressed man" and "Tush". I would look into Foghat ("Slowride"), Bad Company ("Shooting Star"), Nazareth ("Hair of the Dog"), Free ("All Right Now"), and Blackfoot ("Highway Song"). Hmm, I think I'm getting a little better editing my comments. There's just so many amazing artists and songs that I have a really hard time narrowing it down. There's a reason I can never pick a favorite.
Love your post! 😂😂 sooo many songs from my past! 😎😏
Saw ZZ Top in concert a few years ago... Made me feel like I witnessed an earthly/heavenly history making event!!
ZZ Top is just THAT kind of iconic band. Invented the music...
Glad you figured them out!
Thanks!
Blessed Be!
Legs is more singing. Sharp Dressed Man too. By the way thank y'all for giving me something to look forward to. Going thru it and this is a wonderful distraction. Waiting on school to get out for your reactions everyday. Lol
Also gotta add in a little "Tube Snake Boogie "
Also gotta add in some "Heard It On the X"
Been listening to ZZ Top since about 1974 and seen them live a number of times. They are amazing!
Correct. You can never go wrong with ZZ Top.
I love their style and their sound
You could pick any song off their Eliminator album, every song was great
@@RobSquadReactions
They're from Houston. Named for rolling papers, Zig Zag and Top. Their early stuff was pure raw Texas Blues Rock; they got commercial with the advent of MTV, and Frank switched to a drum machine. Still, they'll always be Lone Star blues-rock icons.
*Waiting on a Bus* */Jesus Just Left Chicago*
☝️Must do!
And _Blue Jeans Blues_
And _I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide_
In 2012 they covered a Dallas rapper's jam:
_Gotzta Get Paid._
Check out this swag!
edit: you're coming thru loud & clear but the music is too low..
Soho ZZ Top Fandango album kicks ass
@@sv3931 I agree, ZZ Top should be played loud!!
That little ol’ band from Texas...same 3 guys, playing the 3 same chords. I could listen to Billy Gibbons talk all day, I love his speaking voice. Dig into their pre-1980s stuff, great Texas blues! Jesus Left Chicago should be on the list.
The little band from Texas!!! Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard
Texas baby !
I was 20 yrs. old back in 1975when this came out. Billy Gibbons and ZZ Topp, are one of the Best Blues/ Rock Bands of all time. There is a lot more where this came from. These 3 Texas Boys know what's what, when it comes to music.
Thanks for playing this great song.
Texas pride and joy ! God bless Texas
I think its so cool you are listening to music i was listening to when i was young.I just turned 75. ZZ TOP was a big deal in the 70s and 80s
Playing together as a band since 1970. They are a great live concert...
I saw them 6 times, the best concerts ever! Not just a show, a party atmosphere! They know how to work a crowd, I’ve never seen crowd response as extreme as at their shows.
I have listen to them in my younger day brings back memories of my sister downing the air guitar.
If you wanna check out some more ZZ Top, I gotta tell you, that rabbit hole is pretty Deep, so here's a few more of their songs:
Sharp Dressed Man
Legs (the video where you first the fur-covered guitars)
Gimme All Your Lovin
Sleeping Bag
Doubleback
Tush
Beer Drinkers And Hellraisers
Tube Snake Boogie
Jesus Just Left Chicago
Viva Las Vegas (which features bassist Dusty Hill on lead vocals)
ZZ TOP the biggest little band from Texas. I saw them preform live when I was very young still one of the best concerts I've been too (those pink fuzzy guitars spin btw)
Nice! Sharp dressed man, and legs are also good songs by them.👍
Yes!!!
Three badass boys from Texas! Tres' Hombres! I've got tickets to see them in November ! Whoop Whoop!!!!
This song is about a cathouse called The Chicken Ranch, which used to be outside LaGrange Texas.
It was moved to Nevada and had (has? Maybe still there) the highest priced ladies of the night, in the country.
They even have a menu lol.
There was a book, then movie made called "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"
(Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds...definitely worth a watch!)
Thank you so much for the info this was definitely an awesome song
Yep its about. 60 miles out side of Las Vegas I think. It closed down for a while but they reopened lol
ZZ top has been playing kick ass hard driving blues rock and roll for 50 years now and I was lucky enough to see them live twice but you can not go wrong with any of their music great reaction
ZZ Top combines the authentic Delta Blues of their black blues heros from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, combined with rock, but they have deep blues, rocked up songs, blues rock, and even Elvis covers. Their 70s songs are amazing (Just Got Paid, Waiting For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago, Tush, Francine, etc.), but also their 80's videos (Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, Rough Boy, etc.) are incredible and were hugely influential on the MTV generation.
ZZ Top got respect from black Delta bluesmen, classic rock gods like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, and even more modern bands like the Foo Fighters. And they're still together and touring with their original lineup 52 years after forming.
THE BEST THING to ever come from Texas, ZZ Top. I saw them first in about 1985, and they were old then. They still kill it!
Billy also played himself as one stars dad ( kind of guy you dont want to look at crosseyed from less than 10 miles) on tv show bones. His appearances number 3 or more. Always memorable. Just as the guys from texas are always memorable.
They've been rockin for over 50 years...and still going!! 🤘
ah... ZZTop...... one of my all time favs.... southern rock at its best... thanks, good stuff 👍
oh but you should've put up the live video to watch.
This was definitely some good stuff I cannot wait to hear more from ZZ Top
ZZ Top "Sharp Dressed Man"......Awesome song...
sharp dressed man is also a classic
These guys absolutely kick ass in their live shows.
The guitar line for La Grange was inspired in part by "John Lee Hooker"- Boogie Chillen. 🔥 Highly suggested if your interested in the roots that bare the fruits. Bily Gibbons is a,walking encyclopedia of blues. Much respect for the band's involvement with the " Delta Blues Museum" in Xkarksdale Mississippi.
I'm glad you watched the one with lyrics, but you will be shocked at how much of a show these guys put on when they perform. When I seen them in San Diego they had a bunch of saguaro cactus, a buffalo , a longhorn steer and bunch of rattlesnakes all running loose on stage during concert in an outdoor stadium that was so loud they broke windows a half mile away on the hill above the stadium! They can also be seen in the Back to the future 3. Can't wait for you to Hear "Heard it on the X".
Legs reminds me of Jr High lol mainly because of watching the video. It was popular in the 80s
saw them at a small sports arena in Germany in the early 80's. Absolutely brilliant, reduced my legs to quivering jelly and my brain to raging fire. great concert
Also, the lead singer and guitarist Dusty Hill is a cousin of Hank Hill on the cartoon KING OF THE HILL lol
Dusty plays bass. Billy is the lead singer and guitarist.
I had a chance to see them play this song live in La Grange one of the best shows I've seen
A life without Rock and Roll is an incomplete life.
Here are several of my favorites from them ... Legs , Sharp dressed man , Give me all your lovin , Tube Snake Boogie , T.V. Dinners and there are several more .. but this will give you a good starting point with checking our their range of music some older and some "newer" stuff
Check out zztop waiting for the bus/Jesus just left Chicago you'll love it. Live version is great! Also might want to check out their cover of purple haze . They toured with Jimi Hendrix in their early days and Billy Gibbons can work magic with his guitar
Have Mercy! I've been lucky enough to see them about a dozen times and I've never seen them drop a beat or miss a lick. MTV made them widely popular but I've listened to them since '73. The furry guitars have been called "Texas Muffs'", um... for some reason or another.
Tush... Is a Great ZZ Top tune.. Texas Royalty
Oh, T.V. Dinners is a cute humorous song
TV Dinners is the one song that always makes me laugh and sing at the same time.
A big welcome to ZZ Top. They have played for over 50 years, from 1969, and are still touring. My favorite album is "Eliminator" from 1983. I have seen them in concert 3 times. Just love them. Other songs to listen to:
Tush
Sharp dressed man
Cheap sunglasses
I wanna thank you
I'm bad, I'm nationwide
Tube snake boogie
Jesus just left Chicago
Just got paid
Need you tonight
Legs
Gimme all your lovin
Sleeping bag
Rough boy
Oh wait. What am I saying. You can't go wrong with ZZ Top. Just listen to them all. They got over 20 albums, included Live and collectibles, and an endless play list.
My favorite ZZ TOP song!!!
I loved it
One of my all time favorites! Have seen in concert numerous times. Will never be the same w/o Dusty.
Great reaction to ZZ Top. Jimi Hendrix said Billy Gibbons (the guitarist) is the best he has heard live. If you haven't heard of Jimi Hendrix you should check him out soon. Tush, Tube Snake Boogie, Sharp dressed Man, Legs, Fandango... the list is very long for ZZ Top. Keep up the good work. looking forward to more reactions.
Having seen ZZ Top live, they are just as brilliant live as on any recording. This is my favorite song, by them, but all of them are just great.
Jay, you gotta see them to feel them. Zz top, eric claptons guitar festival. Live. They from texas. Ive seen them at least 10 times in houston. When you see the luve concert ive asked for you wont forget it. Thank you jay 👍👍🎸🎸🥁🤩
Jay ,they been together since the 60s. 💞💞💞
Saw them in concert back in the 80's. Recommended "Big Balls " last night. Tonight I Recommend ZZ Top "Pearl Necklace ".😁
Ah, back when music was music without any computers. Concerts were different too. It was common for people to pass joints (everybody had a lighter in their pocket) along the audience.
"Sharp Dressed Man" was a big hit for them in the 80s. great voice
Fun Fact: The ZZ Top band members names are Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard. Ironically, Beard is the only one without a beard.
ZZ Top was the first concert I ever saw. It was at my high school. It was a fund raiser that they did on a day off between their American and European tours in 1983. Opening for them was Cheap Trick, you'll have to check them out some time too, phenomenal band. In 2019 I saw them again, twice, for the first time since then. Still incredible after all these years. One of the only rock bands that has had the same members since they started.
Funny thing is, that song is about The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas which there was a movie also back in the early 80's starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds. For their voices check out songs like Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, Tush, TV Dinners...
"Go n get yourself some cheap sunglasses"...love ZZ Top!
They were mentored by Jimi Hendrix. Check out some of their blues songs like "Blue Jean Blues"
I used to go to every one of their concerts that I could. These three guys could really rock the house.
ZZ Top is another rabbit hole. They have so many excellent songs! Jay, is there anyway you could turn up the volume on the songs? Your voice is good but the songs are quiet. Thank you sir! ROCK ON!!
It's true you cannot go wrong with ZZ Top. It's amazing that all that music comes from Three Guys
The Faces “ Stay With Me”...... Rod Stewart has the best rock/blues voice ever in my opinion
RIP Dusty Hill. This band is a must on anyone's playlist. So many songs from high school that still take me back. Sharp Dressed Man. Yup.
Great choice of tunes to react to for your first ZZ top experience. Enjoying the reactions brother. That said, you need to figure out your audio issues, your levels are way off and the sound quality on the music track needs adjusting for sure. You'll see that on playback. Rock on🤘
Just remember that Billy Gibbons played Angela Montenegro's Dad on Bones as recurring guest ;)
LENNY KRAVITZ "ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY"..STRAIGHT UP BANGER..TRUTH!!
Glad you are getting a start on ZZ Top. A lot of people below have given you songs and they are all good. Sharp Dressed Man...and...Cheap Sun Glasses are really good. Thanks for a great reaction. These Texas guys are great.
The vocals from Danny Joe Brown are what you like also, so looking forward to hearing your reaction to Molly Hatchet soon!
Same 3 guys together for 51 years now. They were the definition of cool.
Don't you think it's hillarious that the drummer, the only one without a beard, is called Frank Beard. :)
I LOVE ZZ Top; you need to listen to Tush and Rough Boys; fantastic. ❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶
Sharp dressed man is a good one by them
I was fortunate enough to see The Black Crowes open up for ZZ TOP in Greensboro, NC. Two bands in one night that played their asses off. RIP Dusty.
If you dig his voice, check out these guys, MOLLY HATCHETT.
Rob Squad: I've never heard of ZZ Top.
Me: Sheds a tear.
Hey Jay you would really like "I Thank You" by ZZ Top 😄
I will be sure to check it out then thank you so much for the suggestion Rita
Yes agreed
You should watch a video of them playing their fuzzy guitars. They spin them in sync in the middle of a song. They put on a great show with just their music and showmanship. Saw them back in the mid 80’s.
The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Elton John - Crocodile Rock
Sly and the Family Stone - Dance To The Music
I got your back, Elyse!
Those are for if the children come in to react too. And Three Dog Night - Joy To The World.

@@beowulf1005 I just noticed I replied to a comment on Jamel's seven hours ago, and I was just able to start replying an hour ago. SIX HOURS! And they don't even tell you what you did.
@@elysehfm8797 you might need a second account on the sly.
But then they might just ground you twice.
These guys have been doin' it and doin' it WELL for a LONG time. They released their first album in 1971. Loved their cameo in Back To The Future 3.
They only do a couple of verses on the old tunes then they just JAM for 3 mins.
After finding your channel several weeks ago, I’m just now going back and checking out your early stuff. Glad you found ZZ Top to be a Vibe! Being from Texas, upon reflection, I’m kind of surprised I only saw them in concert once, and that was as the opening act for the Stones at the Cotton Bowl in ‘81. The Stones sold out 2 shows and the first show was held during a torrential downpour. Thankfully, we were at the 2nd show, which was under blue skies, but with a stiff cold wind. Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill (RIP) had their beards blowing in tandem! The first act that day was the Fabulous Thunderbirds, including SRV’s older brother, Jimmie. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
I have seen ZZ 3 times in concert. La Grange is my favorite of theirs!
I recommend Blue Jean Blues, vocals and major vibe.
You should watch "Sharp Dressed Man", "Legs" and "Gimme All Your Lovin". Some fun videos for sure and lots of vibe. When I saw them in concert, they had their signature Fire engine red '33 Ford Coupe they called the ZZ Top Eliminator (from the Official videos) on stage with lots of girls coming out of it. It was so great!
As for hearing it in a biker bar. You got that right. Rode for 20 years and ZZ Top was one of our top bands we listened to. We loved the Southern Rock more than anything else. Rock on!
In Houston, we call ZZ Top "The Home Team". They used to pop up in dive bars around the south side in the 80's and play an unannounced set for whoever happened to be there. Too cool and pure Texas. Gotta put in my vote for Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago or Master of Sparks, which is about drag racing out on the outskirts of Houston in the late 60's.
Keep up the good work!
These dudes were menaces back in the day. On one tour, they brought along damn near a zoo! The Worldwide Texas Tour was legendary. Unfortunately, I was too young to see them then, but I have seen them several times thru the years. Always a great show.
You reacted when they showed their clothing. Check out the tune, "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" for a hint of their true swag. Ha ha haaaa The title sez it all.
“Tejas” is ZZ Top’s 5th album - “Arrested for Driving While Blind” is clever and my personal favorite instrumental is “Asleep in the Desert”. ❤️
RIP Dusty, and thanks for all the music!
I've seen them in concert 24 times. They been rocking a long time
So glad someone turned you on to ZZTOP!! When they have show someplace, they show up at the local mall and buy hats or leather jackets or boots!! So cool to run into them shopping. The drummer's last name is Beard, and the other two wear beards. They are always great live, but they're pretty awesome otherwise. They have some crazy good videos, like the one for the song Legs!
So many zz top songs ! These guys are truly legendary! Just got paid! My heads in Mississippi! Just a couple .
Saw them in July and it was dusty 2nd to last concert before he passed. They are just as good in person!
Most awesome concert move ever....the stage was all purple and all you could see was white fur spinning guitars...I don't know how they did that in say 1985, but it was memorable all these years later.
Their whole back catalogue = incredible.
ZZ Top makes us Texans proud! Sharp dressed man has to be next in this rabbit hole. Lol
