yes I learned it by ear. When I heard this solo I'm said "I absolutely must learn it!" for having fun playing it:) this is a good way for learn playing an instrument
Coming back 14years later to listen again to this beauty Thanks mate for this cover, full of thightness, smoothness, a lot of understanding and simplicity.
The use of dynamics, not just grooving, is brilliant: the understanding of space and note length relation is beyond description. And all of that in the beautiful simplicity of a four stringer. This type of thing make me REALLY wanna play bass, not some mechanical, formulaic, Stu Hamm-like tapping kind of crap.
I can't believe people could have watched this without commenting. Once again, you've Blown My Mind as they say. ;) Awesome stuff, as always, Stefano! Totally inspiring. :D
You've inspired me. I'm buying a bass. I don't know anything about it, but I love the sound of the bass, especially Juan Nelson bass. I was checking out Juan videos and ran across yours. I'll probably suck bad, but I'm buying a bass because of your video. Cheers!
Oh man. I don't have words for you. You are hell of a bassplayuh! Man the tone, fingerstyle, slap... everything is just pure awesomeness! Ciao bambino Italiano! (Sorry for this weak Italian, I'm form Poland) :)
Funky Stefano!! Funky Funky!!! so cool bass sound you got there m8.. your exreemly gifted m8. Yeah I'm meltin as I'm listening. WOW! awesome too good ffs
dude, you are by far the tightest bass player i've heard on youtube, much better than those 128th note slap-tap-cacophony freaks. also, you have covered two out of my three all-time favorite bassist, juan nelson and zender (3rd one is rob deleo). bravo!
En français: Super! Tu joues vraiment bien mec! Tu as le son et le groove! T'es au top! Continue! En Anlais: Great! You play very well! You are in! I love your bass style! Continue!
I took this version from a Ben Harper's CD live realised for Japan only (in fact I payed this, ten years ago, a lot of money cause was imported:) the booklet doesn't say exactly from wich gig was recorded, it only says: "tracks ... taken from various bootleg recordings during the summer of 1996" anyway you can find the track around the web searching for "ben harper fight for you mind live in Japan" or something like that thanks again to all for the last positive comments ciao! Ste
so...on this vid I used a Squire Jazz made in Japan 1982. I plug directely in my audiocard (tascam us122) and then I given some colour to the sound with a simply EQ on Cubase. ah! for almost the entire track I used an Octaver effect...like the original Juan's record:-) Ste
