  • JSU alumna Kenya Parks made history as the first woman and African American to serve as director of operations for Primos Cafe in Mississippi. In her role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the restaurant's three locations, implements employee policies, and improves efficiency. The company will celebrate its 95th anniversary in April this year.
    Parks is also an award-winning, best-selling author. She has published three books and a fitness journal, captivating readers with her insightful and inspiring words. She is also the founder of Kenya's Korner, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women. She and her team travel the world to spread hope to young girls and women.
    She co-founded the CARE Transcends platform, which aims to elevate businesses' customer care service experiences.
    The Marks, Mississippi, native earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from Jackson State University. Of all her achievements, Parks considers becoming the mother of her only son, Jabari Harden, her most rewarding accomplishment.
