Brittneyy - if you read this, please give yourself a chance and get back on suboxone or Methadone. I wasted years of my life looking for my creativity inside of a syringe and wasted so much time that I’ll never be able to get back. You are ONLY 24. You have time, but it goes by quick. In one month I’ll be 35… trust me, picking up the pieces is much more difficult in your 30’s than in your early 20’s.
You’ve got this dude! Do something today your 35 year old self will thank you for.
And PS - time will never run out for your music. That creativity will always be in you… as long as you don’t completely kill it with drugs.

Ive been on methadone for 23 years straight, and will be a lifer. It saved me from a raging habit from way way too young of age, and makes dope worthless to me. I know it won't benefit me.
And i don't trust myself without it. Id have to be on narcotics for pain and already know what that outcome would bring. For anyone thinking of starting the program, give it maybe two months before saying it doesn't work for you...

I feel you girl, I’m 33 and it’s wayyyy harder now to try and pick up the pieces then if I was 24. I have way more mental issues and I am an art junkie now all I think about is how good I could have gotten at painting and crafts if I just stopped heroin sooner.

Brittneyy - you’re so young yet you’ve already seen and accomplished so much. Moving to LA from small town Vermont takes a huge leap of faith and a lot of bravery; harness that same level of strength to find your sobriety again. I know what it’s like to feel unloved or unappreciated by your parents or parent. I grew up without either of mine. I promise I found more peace and clarity in my 30’s. You have beautiful and kind eyes, I’m proud of you for making it to LA. Sending you love.

One thing I’ve learned through therapy that might be helpful to others
I hear him saying “I don’t know” a lot and I did too while talking about painful things in my life. It is helpful to recognize and remind ourselves that we DO know. Sounds silly but in a way it keeps you going in the cycle of denial, once you open yourself up to your own emotions and pain it will help you heal. You are worthy of happiness!

    • @rubyjames3105

Its a symptom of being neglected in one’s upbringing and it a very common sign…
A person who is invalidated and criticized and not treated with value they learn to suppress their own needs and feeling so much that they no longer know what they feel - they weren’t allowed to ever feel.
His Dad not liking him is his trigger and it will heal with therapy and learning to use techniques to counter the synaptic connections in the brain.
I noticed it too Yana … makes me so sad for him….

If a son doesn't feel loved/accepted or rejected by his father, it hurts a lot; no anchor. Counselling is a good start. I've felt the same leaf blowing around in the wind feeling, nothing will succeed, no time left, everything has been done etc. It can change when you realise all that is 100% subjective. Change is possible. Believe.

Ian RJM , I certainly agree it was that my father was the only one and he was that loved me I know when a child is only wanted for bad Reasons by the rest of the family; or older siblings and though the father loves you they're strong on him and take you away from him it is like you are a leaf in the wind and you'll cling to anything that you stick to for even a moment. I'm 60 and I still have that feeling. My father has been gone a b 11 years, and there is no other family that isn't toxic well actually poison. I felt rejected by everyone unless I did exactly as I was told, what I was told was not the right thing you can't make someone carry-out others ambitions for you or they will rebell. The family Dynamics should teach that we are loved and wanted and allow us to blossom into the human beings each of us as individuals love teaches us that blossoming... Teaching someone they're not wanted and not loved except under certain circumstances will cause disaster! But then there's the climb and we try to find ourselves even if we're 60 years old. I pray that Brittany finds that love and acceptance within himself he still has time but he looks so thin and god-knows- likely has medical issues he needs help with already. But the start is to get him into a clinic he's young enough you shouldn't have to be a lifer at Clinic, but even if he has to be it's better than for him to be on a drug that will eventually lead to his demise, rather wish for him a wonderful desire that nothing comes before it the desire to rise! Finished with Ted Talk have a great day💯🧗‍♀️🤗

@@ShellyMischelle conditional love can go to hell. Love should be acceptance, support and encouragement. It's hard when you have been programmed, right? But there is a voice inside that we must listen to. Trust our feelings; there is nothing wrong with how we feel. Know ourselves, be honest with ourselves and then with others; it's that simple in my mind now.

This guy reminds me a lot of a lifelong friend of mine. His parents were heroin addicts since before he was born so drugs were always around when he was growing up. He was a super smart kid - borderline genius - and had a really bright future ahead of him. He never touched a drug or even had a drink in his life until the end of high school. He started drinking socially and that almost instantly led to weed which then opened up the doors for everything else. I mean, he went from 100% sober to being a speedfreak in a matter of months. Then came the heroin. I heard about how he'd contracted HIV and heard all the fucked up stories of sketchy situations he'd ended up in where he could have very easily been murdered. I saw him on his death bed when having withdrawals. Then his dad OD'd and died on it. That hit him pretty hard but still didn't get him off it. I don't hear from his much nowadays. He'll be good and sober, getting fit and healthy and then I won't hear from him in 18 months because he was on a binge. He's less of a person after every hiatus. He went from being a highly intelligent, sensitive, artistic and loving human being to sometimes barely being able to string together a sentence. We're only 27 now and whenever I think of him I wonder if he's alive or not. I hope Brittneyy takes the other road.

His mother never should have let him go..As it seems that moving to his Father's was a huge catalyst towards his drug dependency and his fascination with hard drugs.
And I can't help but wonder, what parent in their right mind would let their 14 year old move in with an estranged, drug addicted, parent?
And how could they think that would be a good thing either?
Addiction can be inherited and both parents are responsible for not monitoring their sons fascination and lack of understanding of how destructive drugs are. So all round It just seems like theres been a real lack of solid parenting and Brittney unfortunately thinks he knows it all, that drugs are glamorous and he has tried to be an adult before his time. And hasn't learned from his bad decision making which is rather worrying at this stage.

Brittney - your biggest achievment in life may be learning to love yourself despite the fact that your sperm donor never did. I feel for you because I went through that lack of love myself. It all changed when I realised that my mom and dad are not the authority on whether or not I am valuable and lovable. My advice is - just challenge yourself for a little while to experiment with the thaught that your father was a very flawed human being that is blind as to how valuable you are and how you should be treated by a father. Do something, anything, that makes you proud of yourself, no matter how small, then hang on to it and inject yourself with that little bit of pride. If you consistently do that every day soon enough you will see your depression slowly going away. But it will take alot of effort and will not feel effective in the begining, but just stick with it. Oh and if you fail, which is bound to happen, just shrug it off and do something small that makes you proud of yourself and hang on to that pride for your life. Any bad thought that comes in, just send it away - say: You are not welcome, goodbye. And then reach for a thought that is focused on something good that happened, or something good that you did, no matter how small.

Hey Brittneyy, you remind me a lot of myself and I want to give you a piece of advice I wish I heard sooner. Most Dr's prefer doing suboxone but it seems that didn't work out too well recently. I urge you to consider Methadone if you don't want to go back through the sub route. It's older and fairly strong but it's a full agonist. It will get the job done. Cravings will be significantly less if not virtually completely gone, and it'll keep you from getting sick so long as you dose daily. Being forced to get up, get outside and do something daily helped me out a lot in early recovery especially since I didnt have anything else going on.
I started it because I relapsed after breaking my knee cap. I didn't know it was broken yet and it still hurting after shooting fent is what made me go to the doctor. So the methadone helps me with pain as well so that's another thing to consider if you happen to struggle with chronic pain or pain of any sort.
I'm just a random from RUclips comments though and not your doctor.. or a doctor at all for that matter. This is all purely anecdotal. I just really felt the need to say something.
We really don't wanna hear later that you died. Stay safe and God bless.

I fully support your comment. I've been on Methadone for almost 2 years now and I haven't used heroin since. In the beginning, it might make you a little drowsy, but after a while, your body adjusts and the cravings go away. I'm prescribed to take it twice daily, so once every 12 hours. I prefer it this way, as then you have a very consistent amount in your system.

Emotional abuse can also leave many invisible scars.
He’s come so close to beating addiction & is clearly intelligent & self-reflective. That awareness of not being self-entitled showed his ability to grow & change. That’s pretty impressive for someone who’s only 24. He just seems so very sad & I wish I could give him a hug & tell him, “You’ve got this!” I’m sure Brittneyy has what it takes to achieve his dreams. He just needs to believe he can do it. I'm 39. Been addicted to iv heroin/fentanyl 20+ years. I play guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, standup bass, octave mandolin, Mandocello pretty much anything with strings. I've been in a ton of bands in the Detroit Michigan area. It's been hard to play out the past 10 years because I LITTERALLY have no time for nothing except making money and getting high because it's become COMPLETELY UNMANEGABLE but I find a new rock bottom every day but I figure out how to open it's trap door every morning so I can keep descending.

    Hi Mark,
Thank you for this channel. It’s beyond powerful and enlightening; it evokes compassion in so many. This is perhaps my favorite channel on RUclips, and that’s something!
After 5 years of heroin addiction, I am now 60 days clean. My birthday is in a month (I’ll be 31) and the greatest gift for me is another month strong.
I would love to be interviewed by you! I don’t know if you’ll see this comment, but I hope that maybe I can be a part of this. I want to tell my story and give hope to those struggling with addiction and depression.

I can totally relate to feeling old but actually being young. I’m about to turn 24 and I feel the same way of not feeling like I’m doing much for myself of my future. But mark is right, you do have soooo much life left to live and if you can just focus on what you really wanna do, you WILL get to where you want to be. Life is not a race, even though it may feel like it from seeing/comparing to others. I find myself digging myself deeper into a hole of depression when I think about my future, and it seems like you do too and you might be masking it with drugs and alcohol but you can using that energy to your music instead! Good luck dude🖤
