I only build ruins in my single player world, leaving them to be discovered by people who do not exist.
I kinda do the same, but I ruin any of my old settlements as I move..
I also try to progress with era of time..
Bronze age has loads of wooden structures, then eventually Roman Iron and Medieval..
I found that most of what lasts when left behind are only buildings of particular importance or utility.. otherwise only the fortresses remain.
When I am done with a world, I save it with the intent of one day posting them for the public to explore..
Odds are I will eventually erase them all though..

He passed away 4 months ago cause of an iron golem,i accident hitted that golem and somehow my dog was with me,rest in peace "nitrox" best dog i had,my friend for 3 years and 7 months of hardcore😖 i will miss u,we done everything together as brothers kill the dragon,make my first house,traveled over 50 thousand Blocks,went fishing together crossed an ocean with u,went to the nether,we found elytra together,we made biggest farms we met each other in a 2 minutes of the world and we did so much,just me and him,and you couldnt survive and iron golem🛐🛐

Part of me yes…but there’s also a sadness in the thought of being frozen in one period of time forever. What makes me happy is the thought of introducing things that made my childhood so good to my children one day in the hopes that it will leave a mark on them like it did me

Went to an old world of mine I haven't seen in damn near 5 years, it was on the Nintendo Switch's pre-bedrock console version. Walked through houses that stood the test of time, just the way we left them 5 years ago. 3 of the friends who came on, made their houses, spawned cats or dogs, tamed them, and eventually they left as they had been called for dinner, bedtime, or something else have been online in the last at most, month. 2 however, vanished without a trace. Stopped coming online after assumingly a year or two, probably during 2020. Dunno if they broke their consoles, got something better, or retired from videogames, one of the two was nearing 15 around that time, so that's a possibility. This song, strangely reminds me of losing touch with several people, and having to move on. It's oddly eerie how familiar yet new the houses felt. So many memories of a happier time, all sitting in that 100mb world.

my favourite song in the whole soundtrack of this wonderful game. just brings a tear to my eyes every time i hear it, brings back memories of those better days, when i was young and dumb. hell i could even smile back then. it's weird how much life changes.

@@Killu02 it's been a long 6 months, I've grown a lot. I still feel cold and she was something other than what I thought. Not a bad thing just a different person in my life then I thought at first. Thank you for commenting, it brought me back to the mindset I had when I first heard this. The things I felt then have shifted into something different. But ultimately I still feel hollow but I've found others who make me feel complete. It was not too late for me, and it won't be anytime soon.

Hell, there's a phenomenon that's basically 'imposter nostalgia'. Louie Zong captures it perfectly with his _Beetles_ EP.
The Aquatic update released in 2018, so it still can be nostalgic. It's just more recent nostalgia, especially if a new player started in 1.13 rather than older updates.
