Hey guys, be sure to leave your questions for the Q&A so I can get moving on the watch giveaway video. I would love to have more of connection with you guys than just the guy who talks about watches into a camera. Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram as I am making more of an effort to post awesome photos of watches more frequently. Thanks again for all your support!
What is your grail watch? (mine is probably the patek 2526 tiffany signed dial that was sold recently at an auction). What made you start making videos? How did you get your production quality so high?
These thresholds (30m for splashes, 100m for swimming...) are often repeated but without much justification. The most common argument is that the movement of swimming increases pressure, but that is greatly exaggerated. You would need to move you arm at around 25km/h (16mph) to increase the pressure by one atm. At the time when divers actually used watches underwater (and not a computer like today), most diver's watches where given for 150m, which seems barely enough to go out in the rain according to certain people today :) I think the technology to make water resistant cases has become so accessible that the industry wants arguments to sell watches that greatly exceed the needs of the people buying them. Hence those overly cautious recommandations. That said, no, don't take you VC in the swimming pool...
The problem is no company - for legal purposes - explicitly states what a certain watch is capable of. For example: If a watch is 30m wr, will humidity in coast cities (or on a cruise ship) damage the watch? What if it rains alot? And many questions like this. So I as a consumer have no choice but going for a watch that is over engineered for my usage. My reaction to 3bar wp watches like junghans is "I wouldn't buy it unless Ive got 2k$ to throw away, it being the worst case scenario." Instead, I'd go for Hamilton, mido, Chr.Ward or sinn. Which offer 10 bar or more wr with watches that are not technically dress watches but I wouldn't look out of place if I wear them with suit.
You can easily move your arm that fast. Moreover, as you may know, pressure is force over area, so modest forces ‘concentrated’ on small seals produce high pressures, particularly when there is movement of water (such as when moving your arm). Look up the Bernoulli equation.
@@mas3ymd The seals are not exposed to the moving water - and there's no "concentration" of pressure. (Small area = small force, not enough to deform the sealing ring.) You can swim with any watch that does in fact have elastomer seals, which all 30M watches do. This does rule out really cheap watches with no rating whatsoever (and old watches with worn-out seals, regardless of their rating.)
@@jpdemer5 No offense, but your comment is incredibly dumb. You have exactly zero understanding of basic physics, let alone hydrodynamics. Of course the seals are exposed to water - moving or not. How do you think the water gets there!? It moves! And that is exactly why the seals are out there. What the seals may not be exposed to is the full ambient water pressure for a period of time. But leave a watch under 1000atm of pressure and sooner or later the seals are going to be exposed to that pressure. This is basic high school physics, pal.
I have NEVER ever had a 30 m water resistance watch fail in the swimming pool. You can ABSOLUTELY swim or even snorkel with it. The only time it is going to leak is if the seals are compromised with age or physical damage. There is absolutely no difference between the seal longevity or damage resistance standard of the 30, 50, 100 or 200m watch. If that is your concern, get a divers watch. Other than that, feel free to swim with your 30m dress watch as long as you don't have a leather strap. -- I have done that for 35 years with everything from a Casio to a Swatch to a Longines dress watch to a Tag Heuer to an Omega to a fitbit. Justin M. Only 14? Come on Guanqin watches are fun. Have 1 and so far is better than my Seiko SKX. I am so glad that women's watches are big now. I can collect double the amount as before.
I got a Casio adventure watch many years ago. I don't know where it is for the moment and I have not used it for many years. But it is rated for 100m. I used it regularly for diving in pool down to 3,8m. One thing I reacted about was that it occasionally got fog inside the glass. But it disappeared after a while and did not cause problem. I find it remarkable that while flashlights rated for 1-2m in tests survive 1m submersion, watches rated for 30m often are claimed to barely survive a shower. In a shower there are not even a hydrostatic pressure at all and the hydrodynamic pressure in a shower, as well as when swimming, is a negliable factor for watches. At 30m depth the pressure is actually 4atm, not 3(it's already 1atm at the surface). So how it comes it would not even be suitable for swimming? The answer has to be that the watch in that case hardly cannot have been tested at all at hydrostatic pressure under water...
The Sawtch watches are amazing. I had a bunch of them back in the 80s and always went swimming with them. There are only 30m waterresistant but i had never had a problem with them in the ocean.
Hi Teddy. I’m brand new to your channel and just wanted to say i’m finding your style to be refreshing compared with some other channels I’ve looked at, when it comes to reviewing watches. You’re manner is easy going and friendly which is nice. I’m looking forward to viewing more of your content as it arrives. Congrats on 11,000 viewers thus far. I’m quite sure you’ll far exceed that figure very quickly.
When Jacques Cousteau gone diving with his 100m dive watch, it should be okay for me as well. The Captain Cook or the Oris 65 are excellent dive watches, if you don’t go down the Mariane Dig. 😉
I’ve taken every g-shock I’ve own diving and they all still work to this day and are perfectly fine, My rangeman was on my wrist when I went to diving S/R recertification training for 2 weeks and it made no questions asked
I am a nurse and really just want a watch that will hold up to constant handwashing without forming condensation, and pretty constant wear and tear.. Any recommendations? I just got a Reactor 200 m resistant stainless steel.
I must admit I love divers watches - most of the watches I own are divers. These are my favourites out of the ones I own (in no particular order): 1. Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm Cal 8500 2. Rolex DSSD JC (126660 - the new one) 3. Tudor Pelagos LHD 4. Bell & Ross BR 02-94 Marine Chronograph 5. Rolex Sub 114060
Hah....dunno about that Teddy - all I know is I buy what speaks to me and what I like - whether that constitutes anybody's idea of good taste other than my own opinion is for others to decide and is a different matter. I used to like chronographs much more than I do today (I have, amongst many others, 4 Breitlings, a Steve McQueen Monaco ReIssue, a Speedmaster Professional and a gorgeous Zenith El Primero) but as I get older I seem to prefer the simplicity of 3 handers - maybe its my eyesight deteriorating as I get older (!!!) - but I like the legibility that 3 handers provide now!!.
Great info as always. What ref is that omega that you have on the thumbnail ? Also, I see the fountain head on your book shelf , have you completed it? I have tried but it's just way too long for me.
Thank you so much, man. That is an omega admiralty, reference 166.038. I have actually not read it all. Atlas Shrugged is also up there and I have read that one. Work and making these videos make it harder to read. Not much free time honestly.
Hey dude. If you can collect only one model of a watch from any brand, which would you choose? Example is you can only have different variations of Rolex subs.
Q&A Question: If you are just starting out collecting watches where would you start? There are a lot of companies, price ranges and catagories of watches out there which can be very overwhelming to a new collector.
1st- your budget 2nd- what ever you like. 3rd- are you collecting as an investment or just because you love watches?? If it’s bc you love watches, then buy what ever you like. But consider your style, like how you dress. Your first watch could be versatile, then have like a specific dress watch, sports watch , etc
For example i start with Oris diver then addiction take a place.... Now i own Oris,Omega seamster chrono, few Casio g shock and Sinn UXS(for me best one)! Dont start because your wallet its gona be empty all time😊
Excellent video referencing the ISO standards, water resistance and real life performance. 300 meter water resistance is my recommendation for daily work around the house, garden garage as pressurized water can push past 200 meter resistance. Also resistance rating is when all seals are performing to spec while they will deteriorate with time. As a watchmaker I service my watch once a year, rear and a half for a watch I wear daily. I check, lubricate, and/or replace seals (typically case back, crown and if applicable pushers. That can get expensive for anyone who takes their watch to a trusted professional. If you are a watch nut, consider getting the rudimentary watch tools and some training online to learn to do this yourself, especially if you have a collection as you likely will find this fulfilling it will save money. That said not everyone is inclined to try this and some models should be with a professional unless you really know what you are doing and understand manufacturer recommendations, have all the right tools, parts and supplies to avoid any mistakes. My daily watch is a Hydroconquest with an L688 automatic movement having 300 meters water resistance. My favorite drivers/water resistant watch is a Blancpain 50 Fathoms chronograph with the sapphire bezel. I love my 1965 vintage Submariner as it has great sentimental value. I like the Breitling Avenger having serviced a chronograph and was impressed at this price point the sealing design for the pushers which support a 300 meter rating. Congratulations on 11K subscribers!!! Teddy you are making some fantastic productions, keep up the great work!
Thank you for this well thought out comment, Michael. Also, great choice with the hydroconquest. I am glad to see there is more love for longines as of late. I think many overlook the greatness that is the brands history. More great content to come!
In my opinion you neglect to mention some water resistance ratings as well as screw down crowns or push down crowns and how they change things up a little bit Whats your go to type of watch and your top 3 favorite brands
I know this is not an Apples to Apples comparison but my galaxy watch active smartwatch which is 5 ATM has never failed on me. I go swimming, showering, or even going to the beach and into the sea with it with no problem whatsover
Nice informative and interesting topic, it's good that everybody gets to know the real water resistance of a watch. I give you the simpliest example: Everybody tells you to not swim with a casio f91w, but the reality is that I have one that I wear at the beach and I swim with it and the watch is perfectly fine. I don't go too much underwater, don't dive with it but I swim with it and the watch says only "water resistant".
I have heard that of many Casio and Seiko 5 owners. I would never recommend doing it, but I think getting most of these watches wet won’t kill them. Jumping in the water with an elegant dress piece... eh that’s a different story.
Personally, I don't think you could say it was particularly informative, I feel your comment is slightly sycophantic. The most interesting question of how the industry adopted the misleading '30m' standard was recognised as an issue and yet unexplained. Are dynamic splashing and arm driving pressures at 2m REALLY greater than a further 28m of static pressure? Seems hard to believe. Is 30m just figurative, a marketing excused 'standard'? Do '30m' watch test samples actually get lowered to 30m or 37.5m (1.25x)? If not, why the hell not? If this video said I'm sorry I missed it.
Not a bad idea. I am not a financial planner nor do I think I am perfect when it comes being completely responsible with buying watches, however, I am happy to share my thoughts.
Favorite Dive watch? - Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm, bracelet, 2500 D movement. I remember being in high school and watching Casino Royal for the first time. I'll never forget the opening sequence and seeing the 45 mm version of it on Daniel Craigs wrist on rubber strap.
I own Cartier Panthere 30m water resistance quartz watch for one year now. It came with Cartier care booklet and cleaning kit. According to their instruction I should clean my watch with the foaming lotion and soft brush and then rinse it with warm water. The only caution Cartier gives is to make sure that crown is not pulled out. I did it twice and everything is fine. So, go figure...
Is quartz less reliable than mechanical? Is it really just concern about battery failure? What about solar? Considering that at best dive watches are backups to dive computers these days, the odds must be pretty high that batteries in both devices would die on same dive?
Hey Teddy, A little Q&A question to get to know you better. What's you background, focusing on; How was your time at school? And what did you studied or are you studing? I would like to now that, because in a lot of cases where you talk about watches and how you got into it I reconcile with that.
Great video as always! Keep it up my friend! A good Q&A video is a great idea, I already feel like you’re a close friend of mine but don’t know much about you lol!
Can't seen to find a satisfying answer why a 30m WR watch is not recommended to swim with. All you did was repeat this line, but I was hoping for an explanation of why/how survival at 30m could also fail at 1" - 3' depth. I was thinking a Janet Evans robot would make a good waterproof pool tester, but the folks at the watches subreddit seem to eviscerate any notion that additional forces/movements is anything more significant than a half meter difference with a static test.
When you were listing off some of the tests done, can you explain what a strap changing test is? Or just what it consists of? I have never heard of a test like that and I am quite curious
Hello, I'm glad that you made it clear about 30m and 50m that they are not made for more than rain or watching your hands. Also, it would be good to say never take a hot shower or go into a hot tub with your watch on. I would not swim for any length of time with nothing lease then 200m. I have two watches I use to dive with: Reactor Gamma 300m and Bulova 98B244 Sea King.
I'll wager than there are many people who don't realize just how ambiguous the term "Water resistance" is ( Myself included when I first thought of buying a watch I could wear when surfing) I simply thought that "30 meters" meant you could go down to around that depth & everything would be Jake.......ah...not so! So for many people considering a water resistant watch, this "In depth:" (Sorry about that! ;)) guide to the terms used, and more importantly just exactly what they represent, could save a lot of people ruining what would otherwise be perfectly good watches. Well done again mate!
Enjoy your comments on each video a lot haha. I think we all have gotten sucked into this trap. Very cool that you surf. I would love to try at some point.
No worries Teddy! Grad your trunks, c'mon down to Surfers Paradise in Queensland and we'll paddle out and tear up a few mate! If nothing else we can test our watches! :))
Dude you deserve 100k+ subs and im not just saying this, videos are extremely informative, simplified and you have great taste in watches. You have good editing skills and a good intro. A hell of a lot better then that fake English wanna be toff(really a chav) who reviews watches from America. Im sure you know who im talking about 😂
Thanks for the video mate! So basically, when Im looking to swim/chill at the pool I should get 100m+? Until now I only got 30m which I dont really mind because all of my watches so far are on a leather strap and more on the dress watch side, but I want to buy a real fieldwatch (got the seiko 5 one already which got nice looks and was relatively cheap, so good for everyday and maybe rain), but Im looking to buy the Hamilton Khaki Field which is 100m. I dont swim regularly but I like the idea of a fieldwatch being able to swim with for a short period of time without damaging it.
My biggest surprise was to discover that I can't swim or do water activities with a Patek Philippe Aquanaut or Nautilus, because the water resistance of these watches is only 30m. Patek Philippe should change the name of these watch collections to something not related to the ocean.
I am not sure actually since that is Something I have yet to explore for myself. Idk what your budget is, but there are some Great industrial design studios out there. If it is more of a passion project perhaps learning Illustrator wouldn’t be a bad idea!
Another great video Teddy! My favorite dive watch would either be my Breitling SuperOcean 44, or the Omega Proplof! The Q&A would be a great idea for a video. My Q&A question would have to be; out of all the pieces you've sold, which one do you miss the most and do you regret selling it? Keep it up man!
I'm really looking into the Oris Carl Brashear 401. He's an incredible individual and the watch looks like it's amazing quality. The bronze case and 401 movement really stand out. I'm struggling pulling the trigger because it's only 100 meter rated with a 300 meter price tag. What are your thoughts Teddy?
I can get lazy, Teddy, on keeping up with these higher end complexities. Most of my pieces are just too gorgeous to get them wet, lol. Hey, if I'm around the pool in Palm Springs/Vegas it will be my SKK 009 or perhaps even my humble but aesthetically pleasing Casio Duro. No way the higher end stuff. Best Regards, JP
I agree with you JP. I am tempted to pick up a beater diver just for those instances as well. Jumping in the water with hundreds of dollars (if not more) on the wrist just doesn't seem smart.
Thank you for the information.I never get my watches wet, all low grade, but the clarification let's me know what to expect if I did fall into a pond or etc.
I just came across this video. So 30m is around 3atm = approximately 98-100 feet of water. Your saying that a 30m watch is no good for swimming? If I am swimming at 30m I have other issues. I was a diver for years. The deepest I would free dive (no tanks) was 30 FEET. This is confusing....
My favorite diver's watch is the Rolex Submariner. It's the most iconic watch of all time and, even though I don't have one, I still respect the impact it has made on the watch industry. If I have to pick a watch I own, however, I would pick the Casio Duro, which in my opinion is the world's best value diver.
Teddy Baldassarre you really should. Such a versatile watch. Comes with 3 straps for different looks and occasions. I have one if you need a review lol
Just another great video an I really appreciate the information please more vids I really look forward to the next one! My favorite is my Citizen ny0040 blue an black dial divers
Teddy, as always fantastic information and topic matter on you're show. Q Why don't you team up with TGV from the Urban Gentry to do a review on a classic piece say omega. I think it would be great for us to hear both you're views on iconic brands.
Thanks Teddy for the information. I only like diving watches because of the ruggedness (water resistance of at least 200m, anti-magnetic to some degree, rotational bezel as countdown timer, more shock resistant), not to worry wherever I go and type of activities I am going to do. So I own Seiko Monster, Ball Watch, Casio. I have doubt of your point that there’s a limit of water resistance on a watch. If a quartz movement watch is fully filled with oil, with good seal and locking it should be able to go very deep. Example, Sinn has such diving watch.
In my experience the only 2 watches I've had break from water damage are timex watches, one was 100m after about 2 years, and the other, surprisingly was an ISO certified 200m depth guage timex after 3 - 4 years, crystal was damaged on the edge a bit but I wasn't diving with it. Other than that I've had no leakage, I've had quite a few watches which I put on and blitz through life without taking it off doing various adventures and activities and they're fine 🙂
according to youtuber wristwatch revival, no watch that is vintage should go into water without re-testing. if u've seen some of the states that the stems have been in, it's like an open window on a submarine
There are other videos on the topic out there, but long and filled with unnecessary rambling. I try to pack as much information as I can in videos like these.
Thanks for the video. It is honestly unsettling that the water resistance ratings are so misleading. The industry as a whole should really address it. I wasn't aware for quite some time and thankfully never ruined a watch because of it. I assumed that 30m meant it was absolutely fine to swim with. There is no reason to think otherwise. Now I won't swim with a watch that is marked anything less than 200m. Even then, I wouldn't take my Seiko Alpinist in the pool even though it is marked 200m. It just doesn't look like a watch for the pool, lake, or ocean.
I totally agree with you. I am a bit skeptical about jumping in the water with anything under 100m and still am sometimes afraid to do it. I also get afraid jumping in the water with an expensive watch no matter the price. I think there is too much bad that can happen.
I’m sure very few people take their expensive Dive Watches SCUBA Diving with them but let’s say I do. How often do most manufacturers recommend the watches be inspected and maintained such as the gaskets and seals maintained on most quality diver watches? What common models have you heard of real divers using while diving? What about technical divers and especially the rare professional saturation diver?
Love the vid and the Q&A idea! Q: Do you feel it difficult to balance your content between watches and fashion? Are you anxious about releasing to little content aside from watch-content?
Great content, great research, great performance!! 👌🏻 My favourite diver is my Seiko SKX009, a real ISO diver WR 200m!! It’s a watch that I feel it will hold up under water!! 👍🏻😉The watch is New to me, so I have not tested it so much yet!! Have a good week!!😃😃
Q&A sounds great! Q: What is your go-to everyday watch? One that is versatile enough for almost any occasion. Thanks and keep up putting out great content!
When people say “30m is ok for swimming but not snorkeling”, they are assuming people will go 5 or 10 meters deep at times, right? If you’ll mainly stay at the surface, it’s basically the same as swimming…
Azovii Google the Oris Aquis, Omega Seamster and Rolex Submariner, great examples of a dive watch. Pilots watches have large numbers for easy reading like the Oris Big Crown

Q: What do you do full time teddy ? ( hard to imagine you being anything other than a watch lover 😂)
Hahaha I figured that be a question asked.
Teddy Baldassarre honestly just give a complete introduction. Kinda rude to ask what you do before who you are ( apart from a watch lover of course)
Hey dude. If you can collect only one model of a watch from any brand, which would you choose? Example is you can only have different variations of Rolex subs.
Love this question.
Whate is the watch name in the beginning? The omega ?
Q&A Question:
If you are just starting out collecting watches where would you start? There are a lot of companies, price ranges and catagories of watches out there which can be very overwhelming to a new collector.
I love this question. I think this should be its own video honestly.
1st- your budget
2nd- what ever you like.
3rd- are you collecting as an investment or just because you love watches??
If it’s bc you love watches, then buy what ever you like. But consider your style, like how you dress. Your first watch could be versatile, then have like a specific dress watch, sports watch , etc
That's pretty much what I would say. Good answer.
Start with casios....seiko 5ssss...and timex watches...after some research....u will be running on ur own...
For example i start with Oris diver then addiction take a place....
Now i own Oris,Omega seamster chrono, few Casio g shock and Sinn UXS(for me best one)!
Dont start because your wallet its gona be empty all time😊
I just bought a Marathon TSAR watch which meets all the ISO standards. I love this timepiece
Great video Teddy, lots of people do not understand water rating so this is helpful! My favorite Divers are the Seiko Tuna and my Black Bay !
Two great watches. The tuna isn't for me but demands respect!
Hey Teddy, please better explain the differ case styles. Round, square, rectangular....thx!! Glad you are on RUclips!
Interesting idea, Perry. Thanks for your support.
What about the Sinn 103 acrylic? It’s rated at 200m with a screw down crown but the pushers are not? Reliable to swim in?
My favorite divers watch is the one I'm currently wearing, the latest version of OMEGA Seamaster 300M Pro... So nice.
In my opinion you neglect to mention some water resistance ratings as well as screw down crowns or push down crowns and how they change things up a little bit
Whats your go to type of watch and your top 3 favorite brands
Hi Teddy, could you please speak a little on the rolex scarcity right now? cant get my hands on a rolex steel series!
the way you speak and edit the videos is soo good i enjoy watching all your content. beats so many other creators with more subs
11k to 822k wow that's crazy! Glad to have stumbled upon this channel. Been watching a lot I'm news to watches, looking at a Laco!
My fav: 2 toned Certina ds action diver 300m with the blue dail -43 mm automatic with 80 h power reserve.
I know this is not an Apples to Apples comparison but my galaxy watch active smartwatch which is 5 ATM has never failed on me. I go swimming, showering, or even going to the beach and into the sea with it with no problem whatsover
Hi Teddy, all the way from Malaysia! Love your watch videos, learned quite a lot! Keep it up!
Question for you: what do you think of gshocks waterproofing?
Love it, man. So cool to hear that people are tuning in from around the world.
Have you done a video on or had experience with kinetic watches. If so what are the pro and cons of this style?
Q&A
What makes a watch a dress watch / what you should look for a dress watch
This might be a question better suited for its own video.
Really useful. What is the watch in the thumbnail?
Can you do a video on how you got the money to buy watches and how you managed with finances? Love your videos!
Not a bad idea. I am not a financial planner nor do I think I am perfect when it comes being completely responsible with buying watches, however, I am happy to share my thoughts.
What's your thoughts on swatch watches and the brand as a whole?
Q&A would be great. As for me I'm still learning and have learned a whole lot from you and WatchArtSci. Thanks
Love to hear that man. I am learning alongside you all as well. It is a treat for me.
What is the watch in the thumb nail? I can't found a omega with a anker logo.
Is quartz less reliable than mechanical? Is it really just concern about battery failure? What about solar? Considering that at best dive watches are backups to dive computers these days, the odds must be pretty high that batteries in both devices would die on same dive?
Hey Teddy,
A little Q&A question to get to know you better. What's you background, focusing on; How was your time at school? And what did you studied or are you studing? I would like to now that, because in a lot of cases where you talk about watches and how you got into it I reconcile with that.
Love these questions. Was hoping someone would bring this up.
Hey great video what do you think of rotary saying they are waterproof and to a dolphin standard?
Anyone know the model/reference number of the Omega shown in the thumbnail? Thanks!
I think it’s some version of the Admiralty (166.038)
When you were listing off some of the tests done, can you explain what a strap changing test is? Or just what it consists of? I have never heard of a test like that and I am quite curious
Hello, I'm glad that you made it clear about 30m and 50m that they are not made for more than rain or watching your hands. Also, it would be good to say never take a hot shower or go into a hot tub with your watch on. I would not swim for any length of time with nothing lease then 200m. I have two watches I use to dive with: Reactor Gamma 300m and Bulova 98B244 Sea King.
Good point! Steam is not a watches friend. Personally I don’t swim with anything under 100m. The risk isn’t worth it.
What's the full form of ATM on watches? Is that anything to do with the water resistance?
Very informative. My favorite divers are Seiko SKX007K, SKX009K & Deep Blue Pro Tac, Sun Divers, Sea Ram & NATO Diver.
Great choices! Thanks for watching again, Ken.
What do you do for a living? How many watches do you own?
I will be sure to answer this.
Teddy Baldassarre any Q&A video yet? Have watched a few of your videos and haven’t found it
I like these kinds of videos. Learning cool new stuff about watches is always fun. Congrats on hitting 12k subs so fast
Muhammad Arif glad you enjoy them! Thanks so much! So surreal!
Q&A Who makes the best lume for watches?
True waterproofing implies periodic services on suitable gaskets and screwed crowns.
Nice model with a retro touch.
True on the periodic servicing.
Dude you deserve 100k+ subs and im not just saying this, videos are extremely informative, simplified and you have great taste in watches. You have good editing skills and a good intro. A hell of a lot better then that fake English wanna be toff(really a chav) who reviews watches from America. Im sure you know who im talking about 😂
Lol I greatly appreciate it, Josh. I think our time will come. My goal is to be the best in the space. Big plans for the upcoming months.
@@TeddyBaldassarre you now have over 100k subs. P.S love your videos.
@@TeddyBaldassarre1M subs and counting ❤
Love your vids!! What editing tools do you use?
Hey Teddy, I wanted as a side project design my own watch. Would you happen to have an idea, where I could get a custom made dial, and casing?
I am not sure actually since that is
Something I have yet to explore for myself. Idk what your budget is, but there are some
Great industrial design studios out there. If it is more of a passion project perhaps learning Illustrator wouldn’t be a bad idea!
My fav diver so far is my modern Tudor Pelagos Blue Dial 500 m...the best of the best no doubt !
What are your thoughts Teddy?
wow that rolex cushion dial amazing never saw that oyster before. amazing
Congrats on 11,000 subscribers!
>6 years later
>is now the #1 watch youtuber with 1,070,000 subscribers
I can get lazy, Teddy, on keeping up with these higher end complexities. Most of my pieces are just too gorgeous to get them wet, lol. Hey, if I'm around the pool in Palm Springs/Vegas it will be my SKK 009 or perhaps even my humble but aesthetically pleasing Casio Duro. No way the higher end stuff. Best Regards, JP
I agree with you JP. I am tempted to pick up a beater diver just for those instances as well. Jumping in the water with hundreds of dollars (if not more) on the wrist just doesn't seem smart.
Is the G-Shock GA-110 suitable for diving?
if its 20 bar (200 meter resistant) it is, but only scuba diving, not actually deep diving with oxygen tanks and stuff
Always informative and interesting . The kind of videos worth watching . You deserve more subscribers and views.
I absolutely love your Omega. How much did you pay for it and what's the story of how you researched and purchased it?
Thank you for the information.I never get my watches wet, all low grade, but the clarification let's me know what to expect if I did fall into a pond or etc.
I just came across this video. So 30m is around 3atm = approximately 98-100 feet of water. Your saying that a 30m watch is no good for swimming? If I am swimming at 30m I have other issues. I was a diver for years. The deepest I would free dive (no tanks) was 30 FEET. This is confusing....
Teddy, how did you style your hair? Love it!
My favorite right now is the Ventus Mori Brass Diver M-3. 300m rated.
I am not familiar with that one. I will have to take a look
More videos are coming!
Don’t you worry!
Great choice as well.
Teddy, as always fantastic information and topic matter on you're show. Q Why don't you team up with TGV from the Urban Gentry to do a review on a classic piece say omega. I think it would be great for us to hear both you're views on iconic brands.
Love the question.
Wow, he's thanking us for 10,000 and 15,000 subscribers and here we are five years later and he's at 970k . . . almost a million. My how it's grown.
How can I understand if a vintage piece with the "waterproof" and no meter mark is suitable or not for swimming?
according to youtuber wristwatch revival, no watch that is vintage should go into water without re-testing.
if u've seen some of the states that the stems have been in, it's like an open window on a submarine
This was a great video, and I have no idea why someone didn’t make one just like it years ago.
There are other videos on the topic out there, but long and filled with unnecessary rambling. I try to pack as much information as I can in videos like these.
How did you get into watches and what made you fall in love with them?
Certainly will address this.
I think there is too much bad that can happen.
what is the minimum water resistance watches?
Almost took a bath with a 30m water resistance watch before finding out how misleading it is. Great video teddy
Thank you so much, my friend! Now you can jump in that bath with confidence lol
My favorite is the Seamaster 300M, specially the first one, 90's.
10k subs... 2 years later you are pushing for 250k ! Congrats, Teddy, you deserve it!
For how long does each watch can hold up? Like if it is 100 m resistant, so for how long can it hold at a depth of 100m?
What's the omega watch you have in the thumbnail? Love it!
That is my omega admiralty. Just posted about it on my Instagram.
Love the vid and the Q&A idea!
Q: Do you feel it difficult to balance your content between watches and fashion? Are you anxious about releasing to little content aside from watch-content?
Great content, great research, great performance!! 👌🏻
My favourite diver is my Seiko SKX009, a real ISO diver WR 200m!! It’s a watch that I feel it will hold up under water!! 👍🏻😉The watch is New to me, so I have not tested it so much yet!!
Have a good week!!😃😃
Q&A: which are your Top three watches??
Thank you so much, my friend. Awesome watch. One that I have owned in the past.
Q&A sounds great!
Q: What is your go-to everyday watch? One that is versatile enough for almost any occasion. Thanks and keep up putting out great content!
Love this.
When people say “30m is ok for swimming but not snorkeling”, they are assuming people will go 5 or 10 meters deep at times, right? If you’ll mainly stay at the surface, it’s basically the same as swimming…
Such a great channel!!! Love your intro. Never tire of it!!!
Sry if this seems like too noob of a question but I don't know what the difference between a pilots watch and a divers like how they look?
Azovii Google the Oris Aquis, Omega Seamster and Rolex Submariner, great examples of a dive watch. Pilots watches have large numbers for easy reading like the Oris Big Crown
I think a new definition is required such as a maximum working pressure or depth for the watch.
