This Part is the actual fight against Dark Genie. As you know, Toan failed to change the past. So to save the future he must kill the Dark Genie. As far as battles go, this is generally not too hard a fight. But you MUST be preapred, or you will have no chance of winning. Since you don't actually save after winning (other than clear data), it's a good idea to spend lots of money on items to help. I suggest LOTS of Premium Chickens. Buy a decent amount of Repair Powders too. The other big items are Stand-In Powders and Revival Powders. I'd say 5 or more of each is good. A couple waters will be fine, at least one Dran Feather, and make sure you have as many Stamina Drinks as possible.
For weapons, you will really want one of Toan's Ultimate Weapons. I have his 7th Heaven Ultimate weapon. Stat wise, it doesn't max out at the best, but it's not maxed out yet. The only other Ally you'll want is Ruby. You can substitute Ruby for Xiao or Osmond, but I have a better weapon for Ruby. Also make sure you buy some Holy gems.
If you don't want to be spoiled for the fight and what happens, watch the video before reading this (just don't comment until reading description). For the first part of the fight the Dark Genie attacks you with his hands. There's an eye color on the hands you have to match with an element attribute, such as blue = ice, yellow = thunder, etc. But rather than having to change your weapons attribute everytime you attack, turn off attributes for the weapon and you'll be able to attack the arms. If you attack with the wrong element, it does no damage. Having no attributes does less damage, but less frustrating. Toan's all you'll need here. His only attack other than the arms is some impossible to avoid wind attack. It shouldn't hurt Toan too much.
The second part is annoying. You'll have to switch to Ruby/Xiao/Osmond, whoever is your best long range attacker, and start attacking the Genie's head. This is where you should spam Stamina Drinks, so you do more damage. Holy Attribute weapons are a good idea. He gains a laser attack, which is easy to avoid. He's open right after the laser. If he does the wind attack more than once in a row, that means you have to hit him. So to avoid getting hit a lot with that wind attack, I'd suggest tossing an attack at him after every move. For his laser, charge up the attack if you're using Ruby to do the most damage.
When you finish with Ruby, you'll probably cheer and pat yourself on the back for beating the Dark Genie. But instead of doing that, it's a better idea to switch in Toan and prepare him for one last battle. Instead of the game ending, the Dark Genie's, from what I can tell, real form pops out from the darkness (and damn does that thing freak the shit out of me). If you don't know what you're doing the fight will end in 5 seconds. The Dark Genie will now fire a giant red laser that follows you. It'll OHKO most allies, and two hit kill Toan. It's multi hitting too, so if you get hit, expect to die. But that's why you should have bought Stand-in Powders and Revival Powders.
The target in this fight is the mouth. When it opens its mouth, attack it. Watch out for its arms. Everytime you attack the mouth, it'll smack an arm down and open its mouth again. You can use this to loop it. Of course, I missed once or twice. Also, I pressed some wrong buttons near the beginning because I was too used to KH2FM's camera control. But winning this wins you the game, and unlocks the 100 level optional dungeon (I'm not doing it anytime soon).
For the record, having a leveled up Ruby would make this fight go faster. I never really leveled her though, so that's why her part took so long.
The last phase always creeped me out as a kid. Just the setting and the music makes for an eerie combination.
Used to hate that wing flap move, until I figured out that charging while switching to the hammer kid cancels the attack then it was smooth sailing from there.
Thanks to you making this, I'll know how to beat the dark genie when I reach him! But that bloody whirlwind attack is unavoidable.
I remember how long it took to finally beat this guy, took so many tries and so many hours to ultimately defeat this bastard.

Even as an 8 year old I understood to switch elements against this boss but it still took me literal days to defeat him.
Man am I glad I trained Ruby before that battle.
Just so you all know, if you have Revive Powder as an active item in any of the top three slots, it will automatically revive you if you die.

ahh the final boss of the game. putting revival powders in ur active items helps a lot since it saves stand in powders, just throwing it out there.
this is the best game ever- it took my enitre childhood, and thats just how i want it. im a 14 year old girl, and im still obsessed with this, this will never get old

....you do realize that not having an element on the weapon means you don't have to change elements every god damn attack you try to make, right?
I just levelled my characters weapons up big time before taking on the genie and he was pretty easy. Genie dead, platinum trophy secured, happy days.
I think the Demon Shaft music is around, but not the final form of last boss (I've been looking for it too, as the description states). No one has found it.

the reason you can't find it on the OST is because the company did a last minute change, you would only find it if you had an audio converter or someone you knew worked for Level5
@queenaldra have you ever notice after a while that the genie stops to shield himself with his wings? after he removes them look carefully at his hands (before he puts them in the ground). study his hand colors. (for example: pink on his left, or holy and red on his right, or fire.) right before he put a hand in the ground, quickly go to the menu and change your weapon's attribute to that color, or element. it took me a while to figure that out. if u have any questions just message me.
Unfortunately, I've searched pretty much every site possible, and I still can't find the music that plays at 8:45. The only way to do so is probably to rip it off of the disc itself.
Selling everything you don't need. Sell fish bait other than Poison Apples and Potato Cakes. They're worth a lot. Also, those little circle things in random dungeons that do something random have the ability to double your money if it says "funds increased a little". So if you have 20k, it goes to 40k. You can use that trick to get your money maxed out.
You can actually beat this boss's stationary stages by letting one character die, standing in with a ranged character, and switching to first-person view (R2). It keeps the invincibility from having to stand in on until you exit (allowing you to sit there and snipe him to death).
Great vids dude. Takes me back a bit, I played the demo and wanted this game for about a year before I found it. Well worth the wait, haha.

I'd really really recommend getting a Chronicle Sword maxed out for this fight. You hit the orb for about 714 dmg with holy on, I hit him for about 2000 dmg with holy from what I recall :).
Just makes the whole fight easier and faster.
But there's nothing wrong with the 7th Heaven, just doesn't quite match up to the Chronicle Sword.
hey dude plz reply....how do u get 7th heaven?....i only have serpent sword and im in sun and moon place....and my other characters doesnt have a good weapon..except for the fat one

You can always upgrade your sword, it's never too late. It's just easier if you start at the beginning of the game so it's less time when you get to do it later on.
I don't get how the 8:45 music isn't found on the Dark Cloud OST. But I'll keep looking. I did find the missing Xenosaga III musics, so I know I'll end up finding the missing Dark Cloud music.
So that wing attack is undodgable and unblockable right?

how does your sword hit for differant atributes? i have to keep switching every time he attacks? please help
well heres a little hint, the wise owl sword will build up to the chronical sword, for easy leveling up, go kill high level monsters with your sword, then equip the wise owl sword before the monster completly collapses, the wise owl sword should get the abs, also if your willing to use a glitch to your advantage, you could use the "broken dagger attachment glitch" look it up on you tube,and when fighting the dark genie's hands, if he has a yellow circle on the hand, use thunder,and so on.

When i was 10 I remember i wanted this game so bad and i got a hat trick in a soccer game and my parents got it lol
I think having REALLY high defense does, but it requires a lot of time and save scumming; the defense-boosting items (it's potato pie for Toan, witch parfait for Ruby, candy fish for Xaio, forgot who the rest have) give random boosts, between 1 and (3 or 4, I forget which) points. So you get one, save your game, use it: if it's the max, save and repeat the next one. If not, reset and try again.
I hit 650 to the hands with my 7th heaven. But how do you make to make damage without changing the atribbutes?
i would say yes but no, i actually like her alot because of her character, and she was always my favorite to use, and her character design makes it look like she can have her own back story
Is your Sword 7th Heaven? Is there any thing stronger? And how do I make it.
actually the 7th heaven cant be found,you have 2 upgrade it,and there are a number of swords that it can be done with.you can start with any of these:
Baselard,Gladius,Cyrsknife,Bone Rapier,Kitchen Knife,Serpent Sword.
as you upgrade weapons, you can add attributes/Elemental power to the weapons.
this brings back good memorys of going around the guy oppisite my houses place and watchin him play this
Actually I think the melee fighters' charged attack dan dodge, but obviously that'd be hard to pull off on purpose. Cuz the final boss of Dark Cloud 2 DOES have a nasty Wave Buster/Lazer attack that can be dodged, and both characters have chargable melee attacks that give invincibility time.

yeah i know what ya mean, i think the Old graphic games had the advantage over these newer ones simply because the lacking detail let you use your imagination, making the experience more enjoyable, the ones now do it all for you
I found that killing one of his minions he slows down in attacking for awhile. Or maybe I was just lucky that time. Cause he stopped attacking after one of his minions went down.
it strange i was doing that with thunder base damage and it keeps saying no efect is there a certin element u need?
go to your sword and click on the element currently selected to un-select it it will not give any elemental weakness bonus to u but it saves time on changing the element all the time
I personally don't think so. Best thing for anyone, though, is just to get both games if they can. You won't be disappointed with either.
what weapon were you using and what were its attributes? you need a powerfull weapon. I suggest using the cat girls ultimate slingshot, the Angel Gear it has slightly more attack than the 7th heaven and shoots fast and doesnt need to charge. it is a safe way to blow his brains out :)

No this is the real last boss. Optional bosses do not count as final/last bosses..just a boss.

You can use the backfloor key. But the one with it was only sold i a specific area.
Maybe a whole country. I think it was so it said in my official game guide book.
i always had to press select then match the colors on the hand. How you do that without switching the colors. All you had to is get the dude with gun and let it rip.
So that's where the three Altamillia in the sequel come from.

Goro special attack will make it miss
*Alucard* Are you sure Goro's Spin Smash lasts long enough to endure the entire span of the wing attack? I tried it with Toan's Windmill Slash (which seems longer) and it didn't work.

Apparently something to do with the fact that it was my *second* playthrough. I guess the programmers were lazy and just programmed the unlocking of the tower with "is the player at the Gallery of Time, and has the game been beaten before?" (ie; not specifiying if *that* save file was the one that beat the game or not)
@TheDynastyStar u set your weapon to no attribute. it does less damage but you don't have to keep changing attributes

On the hand part I always used goro and the final judgement weapon. with the right element attached it made things go by faster and delt serious damage

u dont know of u need to change your sword conposent whe he attack? ex, when he`s hand are red, change your composent of sword to fire, when the hand is blue, change for water, etc

It seems like it takes a few swings even with stamina to kill him at the third form, i got him in two with the chronicle sword, though i had the critical ability, maybe it worked on him?
You had Chronicle Sword, which (if you maxed it out) is literally just better than 7th Heaven, though they're both pretty good. He also didn't max out his sword.
Even with max sword it seems to take multiple hits, regardless of which ultimate sword (accept chronical 2)
yeah abilities affect bosses as long as he is not immune. Most bosses are immune to poison/stop, but drain and critical work, critical affected the pendragon! I think the genie has low health pool so with stamina and max chronicle sword it doesn't take long!
@WoodElf3 It's the broken daggar glitch. Just type it in the RUclips bar, there are many tutorials on it.

Yes, I did that once too. With some nice leveling and weapon building, I killed him in TWO HITS with the Chronicle2 Sword.
I think I'll do fine, I got to and chronicle weapon to the max and ruby's ultimate weapon to the max.

I did this boss the so called "real way". Starting by always changing attributes of the weapon to match the element of his hand. Haha, I still remember how long it took, but it's always nice seeing my Chronicle Sword do ridicoulous amount of dmg, even though it at the time was only Chronicle +27.

Try maxing out Chronicle Sword for Toan on this one. Its an awesome sword.
