    I love my HD no way I would ever trade it in for an X. Taking a 4 day float on the Buffalo in three weeks and my HD the the perfect yak for it.

      Have you tried the X? The HD is a great kayak though.

      My BIL and I do an yearly kayamping trip, 25-miles of river of the course of a few days. Not having as much hatch storage is a definite no-no for us as we've been caught in storms a few times.

    The Coosa X is a hard NO for me,, lack of rear hatch is a show stopper. I have been running a Coosa HD for 10 years and it is the perfect multi day mountain river fishing platform. Perfect balance of internal storage and deck space.
    ALL of my gear is stored inside of the hull, in 6) 10L dry bags. The rear hatch is not just "Good for a small battery" (who the hell wires up a river boat??). I fit 4) 10L drybags, a dry box, a dry jar, jet boil, etc in the rear hatch,, front hatch gets chair, table, 2 pans, 2) 10L dry bags, saw, machete, etc. 20 years a go I had the tankwell of my Tarpon piled up like a garbage scow, never going back to those days.

    Good video overall.
    I almost got an HD when it was on sale but paused and saw they were having the X coming out soon. After researching it it was an easy choice. The thing with the Jacksons is they have an accurate to erring on the low side for their capacity ratings. I love the big tank well as i am often carrying multiple saws, fuel and winches to clear trees from rivers. I have a big rig HD but often don't need that maxed capacity. The X will be a good intermediate boat. However there are videos showing it loaded to 525lbs and beyond without affecting the stability of it.

      Im excited to take a Coosa X on the water and maybe do a comparison with the HD. Biggest difference is the weight. The Coosa X comes in at 98lbs and feels every bit of that. I like the removal of the back hatch for a bigger tankwell

    • @MysticalDragon73
      @MysticalDragon73 Год назад

      @@thebeardedpaddler For sure. That open tankwell is a huge improvement.

      Does the kayak feel tippy?

    • @MysticalDragon73
      @MysticalDragon73 Год назад

      @@robbiejohnson3698 The coosa x has ok primary stability. But its designed to be a river runner and you need the lower primary stability to have the maneuverability. Its strength is in the secondary stability which is wonderful.

      @@robbiejohnson3698 I second what Mystical said. It's very stable but you want a loose primary stability when on moving water. It paddles great and feels like you are controlling the boat instead of the boat controlling you.

    The Coosa X, without the center console, is 20lbs more than the HD? Where's the extra weight coming from, the additional width?

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  Год назад +1

      A lot of plastic, The floor is reinforced for more rigidity and the platform is just huge. It wouldn't surprise me to see them lighten it up a bit in the future. The hull weight really does overshadow a phenomenal kayak in my opinion.
      Thank you for watching!

    I don’t see the Coosa X as a upgrade as much as I see it as a different option. I think Jackson would be better off selling both kayaks. I’ve paddled both, the Coosa HD is better for standing and straight line tracking, while the Coosa X is more maneuverable and handles a lot better in tighter areas

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  5 месяцев назад

      I get that. Some preferred the Coosa HD and some prefer the Coosa X.

    Which one is faster?

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  11 месяцев назад

      Thats hard to say. The Coosa HD is slightly faster but you get a lot more features and room on the Coosa X. The Coosa X really is a great kayak but it is a large kayak which is something to consider.

    Would the coosa x or Nucanoe Frontier be beter for river fishing. Up to class 2 rapids.

      Coosa X. They both are big but the Coosa X is much more nimble and easier to paddle

    Hey, I was watching the video and I saw something I want badly.... You have a sunset Trident on the floor. Is that a Trident 15????? If you have a Trident 15 I will buy it. Seriously. I have a Viking Reload, and in some respects, it is much better than the Trident 15. The Trident 15 has that large opening in the center which allows surf launches, and allows you to store rods and fish with zero fuss..... I will either drive there from Texas or I will pay for shipping. If you have a Trident 15 I want it. I was very sad when I learned that the Trident 15 was discontinued......

      It's a 13.5. Also have a Tetra 12 in phenomenal condition.
