"I've not spent all that money for you to be outside playing in the garden" says it all. The kids were riding bikes, climbing trees and having fun until they were dragged back into the money pit. What a strange way of doing things.
I’m really trying to understand the point behind going so overboard for a children’s party, but I can’t. Like I can understand if it’s a dire situation (maybe if they were terminal or something along those lines) or like a milestone birthday, but this is crazy. There’s just so much pressure to make next year’s party even better than the last.
And I can’t understand the women who lives and breathes her son. I get that she had difficulties becoming a mother and that he’s her miracle baby, but good god. I’m nervous he will grow up expecting people to treat him the same way. I’m nervous for ALL these kids having these unrealistic expectations from people when they’re older. The only thing that could honestly bring me comfort about this is if they feel humbled or gracious for a fortune so many people don’t have. Or maybe even learn to give back to those who may be unfortunate. I just hope they don’t turn out as utterly spoiled adults.
I'm in my mid 40s and I've never had a birthday party. Birthdays and Christmas were just another day. I have a tradition now of buying pizza and cheesecake every birthday. I sit at home, watch a movie, and enjoy my treat.
I’m in my 70s now, but when I was younger attended a number of Bar Mitzva celebrations. There was the Religious portion in the Synagogue, followed by a party. Guests gave envelopes with money to finance a trip to Israel for the celebrant, which took place before the boy turned 16.🖤🇨🇦

What a bunch of nonsense. Guy’s birthday party consisted entirely of adults. Way to make it all about the adults. And all these parties just scream future Dudley Dursley’s.
It's a bar Mitzvah so it's mostly family and family friends- mostly adults. You could see he had some school-aged friends there in a few of the shots. But they're usually not held in five star hotels for hours with adult-entertainment with every single contact you and your family know on social media. Normally in like a community hall for a couple of hours with only the people you like.
For the millionth time, a bar mitzvah isn’t a birthday party but a rite of passage, a birthright. It shouldn’t have been included in this documentary alongside overblown secular parties.

I honestly think all of the parents are completely crazy, money spent on education & travel would be so much better for their futures! It would help progression of education & the travel would help their geographical & historic needs for the future...........Definitely have a party, but make it more normal having fun!

The bar mitzvah for Guy was INSANE! It wasn't a party for the boy, it was a party for his parents and their friends, not him. That actually left me kinda sick...
they're usually bigger than birthday parties. It's like a coming out party for family and friends. But booking out the four seasons and inviting everyone you know , even if you don't like them, for a five star meal is a bit much. I've been to one and it was a big party with all the relatives and friends but it was in a town hall and probably only cost a couple of grand.

I wouldn’t compare a bar mitzvah to an ordinary birthday party. When you’re bar or bat mitzvahed, it’s a rite of passage: you’re coming of age, you’re gaining responsibility, you’re standing alongside adults at shul.
