BMW window reset and calibration (E60 E90 E87 E84 F10 F30)

- How to relearn your #BMW windows end positions for all the safety and comfort features to work properly in your car? This #calibration is needed after your windows mechanism has been replaced, sometimes after replacing car battery or after voltage dropdown.
Without it you can find you car with malfunction of the pinch-protection feature, remote opening and closing and single-touch opening and closing of windows.
If you window is going up and the down a bit, then probably you should check if window channels are not clogged with dirt, next clean and lube the window channels, and perform this reset and calibration procedure. You don't need to visit repair shops - just do it yourself without any tools or diagnostic interfaces.
This #window reset and adaptation tutorial should apply to all modern BMW cars like E60, E90, E87, E84 X1, F30, F10, F01, i3, i8.

Changed my door panel and unhooked the switch. While driving in the rain tried to roll window up and it went half way up then back down. Pulled this up while driving and got it up in 1 minute. You are appreciated
So good, fixed the constant pull back on the driver's window of my E87. The 15 seconds did the trick, another video suggested 5 seconds and nothing happened. Many thanks.

Life saver! My 3 year old managed to somehow lock the passenger side window. The motor was working fine as when I attempted to close it from the drivers side I could hear the motor. However it would not go down. I thought some sort of electrics issue. Then I found this video and did exactly in the video and hey presto, all working! Thanks so much. Still working in a 2020 plate BMW 118 M Sport.

Wow!! Works like a charm in 2009 328. Just had battery and alternator replaced and window(driver) would not automatically go up. Nor did pinch protect function causing my driver window to be unseated from frame. Did this and worked a treat!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!!
Many thanks! Notice for E87 model (BMW 1, 2006): it's not ncessary to start the engine, just push the key and press the "start" button to start the board computer only. Press down and hold 15 sec for the front windows, about 30 sec for the rear windows. Initialisation sequence can be started after the window alert appear on the dashboard. It works perfectly!

I have done the relearn on 3 different windows now in my 2011 e90. It’s hot here so instead of using AC I cruise with all 4 windows down. 3 days ago ago my passenger side rear window wouldn’t roll up with my driver side controls, but it would roll up when I hold the lock button on my keyfob (thanks Carly). Did the relearn just as you showed, heard all the clicks, and it works like a charm the first time, in under a minute. Perfect!!!

Kris, thanks for your video! I have a 2011 Mini Cooper and both my windows got out of sync because of freezing I think. Since both of them acted up at the same time I thought it might be software and was concerned it was to be a trip to the dealership! They are 70 miles away, Your video got them back operating properly!

Was your window the frameless one mate? Mine has air coming in after replacement and just on the drive after coming back from the garage for the 3rd time so I have to door cover off. Might shot it all back together and give this a try.

2016 228i coupe (F22) Auto up was not working and the auto up /down when opening closing the window was also not working. This reset fixed the issue. I had to do it twice. The second time I held the button for 30 seconds, not 15. Many thanks!!!!

thank you be sure to hold 15 seconds down i hear a click and then manually go up and don’t release the button you should also hear a click then retry by using 1 tap to see if it worked hope this helps someone.

Hi this video is amazing and worked on the 2 other windows but the drivers side windows wanna give me issues it works at all pinch protect is set and it is perfect no stoping but wen I roll it up then back down it’s like after u roll it up it has a cooldown for when you can roll it back down

Works with my 2010 3 Series E90. I'm in Ireland too so it's right hand drive if that makes any difference. The only thing is - the window that was having the issue now doesn't work with the "one touch" or comfort close. I have to hold that window all the way up. Doesn't bother me though. The fact it was going back down again was more annoying than me having to hold it up.

I replaced the battery yesterday and I have this same issue. Going to try right now!!
My both back windows wont open. Checked the relais, etc but thats fine. Could it be a cable broken or switch? It is a 120i 2004

Can you explain why there’s an issue with when opening the door and it not readjusting for the car door to open, when I close the door the window isn’t adjusted slightly down to clear the frame

My bmw 2281 drive cabriolet has a similar issue. the window doesn't go up all the way to where the rear window goes. I tried this calibration, and it doesn't work. I also don't get any signal on my dashboard like others are saying. Do I need to actually adjust the actual regulator? Thanks for the video, and I hope you have some more info. I've lost all faith in the bmw mechanic I've been going to and If I can do this myself, I'd rather. Thanks!

hello friend, I need help, the windows of my BMW e90 2007 stopped working in an instant, only the co-pilot works, it goes up and down perfectly, the other 3 do not go up they do not go down, I thought it was a problem with the switches and bought all 3 new, also check the fuses and they are good, with the key they all go up and down normal, but the switches are not working even though they light up when the car is started, try to reset by holding down the switches and it does not respond. I don't know what to do :( I really appreciate your help. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the video im from india and i have a 2011 f02 730ld driver sode one touch up wasnt working a diagnostic shop did do the anti trap thing and it didnt worked they said motor was bad but if it was then the window shouldnt be wokring because the motor for manual and ine touch would be the same

hi guys I have a 128i 2010 convertible, I did change my window regulator in my passenger side, I disconnected the battery but now the automatic window drop is not working, before when I opened the door both windows dropped half inch automatically, and when I closed the doors they when up automatically, I looked some videos here in RUclips in how to fix it but I can't get the doors to work.
anybody had this issue before and how did you guys fix it.

Really thank you man ! Worked like charm for my E92, you saved my nerves and probably money ! In my case "one touch" was not working and also sliding down and up after opening/closing doors also didn't work (coupe thing). Interesting thing is that just before I recognize the issue I had computer plugged in OBD and doors and windows were half open, my theory is that it could have affect on recalibrating windows. Anyway thank you again :)
I just had my rear passenger motor replaced on my 07 E90. Before at first when I rolled the window down and then tried to roll back up in would try to roll back up and you can see It roll up just a little bit and then go back down. It would do this from the driver switch and the rear passenger switch. Would need to try and try until finally I would get lucky and roll up. One day I remember I rolled window down and it started doing it again so I got off and when to rear passenger door and I banged the door with my hand from the outside to see if it would get it unstuck. I did something to the mechanism and from that day forward the window would go up and when it rolled all the way up it would go down to half way. So in other words, I created another issue when I banged on the door. The pinch Mechanism would let me close the window but then automatically roll back down to half way. If I wanted to close the window I would need to do it manually meaning I could not use the auto feature when you just pull the switch up once and it would roll all the way up automatically. I would need to hold up the switch and when I got near to where it would close I would need to do it little by little until the window would close, but I would need to be careful not to go all the way up or the pinch Mechanism would kick in and roll window down to half way. My mechanic changed the motor and it fixed the issue. Unfortunately I was playing with the rear passenger window knowing it was
Fixed and enjoying opening and closing the window. I was so happy knowing that for a year I could not use that window and now I could. Unfortunately while I was enjoying myself rolling up and down the window with no issues, I soon noticed that every once in a while when I rolled the window down and then rolled it back up using the one touch auto feature and manually, that the window would try to go up, but it would only go up just a little bit and then go back down. Just like the In the very beginning when I first had an issue with the window. I was like NOOOOOOOO, I thought I fixed all these issues by putting a new motor. When I noticed that it was doing that once in a while I would say MABYE 1 time out of 20 I got mad and frustrated. I don't know why it does that! So finally here is my question, can you help?! Do you have ANY clue as to now why it does that once in a while? This only happens to the rear passenger window.

Hey dude. My back window simply doesn't go up or down even when I hold the switch. It simply just moves for a few centimeters and then stops. The only way I can actually get it to move is by repeatedly clicking it up or down

Unfortunately this doesnt work for me, hold down for 15seconds i hear the click, then roll it back up to close position and it just opens again when it gets to the top, opens about 10cm or so, i think the window needs to be lowered in the door cause i think it keeps hitting the top of the door when closing the window and thinks there is an obstruction and opens again, also when opening or closing the door the window does not automatically drop down or close a bit to allow the door to open
