I've always loved Bronislau Kaper's score for this Leslie Caron/Michael Wilding version of the Cinderella story, so I replaced the film's mono soundtrack.
Watching in 2021 and loving it!! Everything was wonderfully done. The ballet sections are artistically done!! Kudos to all the dancers. Great dramatization!!
As far as I know, this is the first film of Cinderella which includes a plot motif used to even greater effect years later in "The Slipper And The Rose"...the idea that even though the prince and Cinderella love each other, other people attempt to separate them because the prince has an obligation to marry a woman of aristocratic if not royal blood for the sake of the kingdom (and Cinderella does not qualify).
The Glass Slipper received its network television premiere divided into two episodes on the 1967 ABC-TV anthology series Off To See The Wizard which is where I first saw it when I was eight. I didn't realize until recently how difficult it is to restore Eastman Color. This print doesn't look very good. However, this reminds me of what an interesting take on the Cinderella tale this was.

I do love the movie but often wonder how Michael Wilding felt about having to swan around in tights much of the time !?

As much as I love this movie, it would have been better to skip all of the fantasy ballet sequences. They just made the movie drag.
