92 years old, still gorgeous, still brimming with detail and subtle observation in her riveting accounts of long ago. A cultural icon in both classical and popular culture. Thankfully Michael asked her about her formative years and the War and the beginning of her career and not the usual cut and paste Hollywood questions about Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. Caron starred in 2 of the greatest MGM films ever made, An American in Paris and Gigi, and did much to create the international mid-century image of the French as artistic, graceful and inspirational. Wonderful stuff.
Wonderful interview. So nice to see Miss Caron is still with us..and what spirit at 92! I remember as a young girl seeing her in "Red Shoes" and was utterly entranced!
@@tommoncrieff1154 Perhaps she confused THE RED SHOES with THE STORY OF THREE LOVES (1953). Moira starred in the first "story" and Leslie in the second, though she did not dance that time around. 😊
I used to watch Michael in BBC's production "Great Railway Journey" and really liked his sense of humor and excellent contents. This intervirew is also very interesting! Thank you!
@LeslieCaron I have always had a crush on you, i love your work from Fanny and Gigi of course and Father Goose. I have recently had the pleasure of watching most if you're work again in my 60's and just thought maybe you would hopefully receive my message from a lifelong fan. God Bless. Michael
Classy, yet down to earth. Leslie is my all time, life long crush. In An American In Paris she bedazzled me. In Lilly she enchanted me. In Gigi she delighted me. In Daddylong legs she won my heart. She stands the test of time as the best female dancer and she was a natural at acting given her wonderful debut in An American in Paris. She come off as a well seasoned actress in all her early performances. A man would have been quite fortunate to have had her heart.

Just love her. She's so french, sincere, in her movies, comes thru from herself.

Leslie Caron wasn’t in The Red Shoes, that was Moira Shearer. You must be thinking of one of her other ballet films.
