God bless Martin's comfort talking about the smutty aspects of this movie in front of his girl. My son is a grown man and I still have to leave the room when we're watching an R-rated sex scene. Respect for parental honesty.
The story merits the length. It only slows down for a brief moment in the middle but it is very well paced overall. I think this review nailed its analysis of the film. Watch it at home and you'll have fun with it, but it is missing that extra bit of visual flair that would have justified seeing it in the theater. The script is very solid. Basically, if you thought the trailer was funny, watch the movie. If you don't like that type of humor, then watching the movie will be hell for you.
I’m surprised korry the puppet historian didn’t mention the most famous and successful adult puppet show,Avenue Q. I mean it beat Wicked, the most popular and successful musical of all time forThe 2004 Tony for Best Musical . Avenue Q Is everything happy time mudders wanted to be.I mean it did the whole puppets being 2nd class citizens better, and had more substance then just puppets being crood. In fact I say it’s the best of adult puppet show genre as it’s satire of early 20s adulthood and all the problems you face when you become a adult is genius
Yes I surprised as well. Kory has never mentioned Avenue Q in any puppet discussion. s it possible he doesn't even know? If he doesn't it would be a great find for him.
I love Avenue Q. Seen it 3 times in local productions over the last 8 years. Schadenfreude recently got stuck in my head again. Not even one of the more popular songs. Korey has to know or be informed!
I agree with all of you I even think this show deserves a movie because its message on adulthood something that a lot of people who normally don't see plays need to hear . Honestly the only reason I think the Avenue Q hasn't been made into a movie is a lot of the show is supper dated and it would take a great screenplay writer to capture the show on screen with out making it a different story all together(I mean one of the supporting characters is Garry Colman)
Your daughter is a lovely woman, Martin! I can tell you guys truly love one another. I also remember you mentioned in the KING ARTHUR review that one of your kids' name came from Arthurian legend, so I can breathe easy knowing you didn't name your child "Merlin Thomas". And bless you for that Paul Harvey reference. I'm probably the only regular viewer of you guys who understood that reference, but I do appreciate it.
Great video :) Martin's daughter has her dad's laugh and sense of humor. :) I wonder how Martin and Korey started their friendship? They are totally hilarious :) Great comedy duo :)
I HATED Sausage Party. Animated food cursing every three seconds stopped being funny after the first five minutes. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck goddamn shit pussy dick! Hey, I just wrote the first draft of Sausage Party II. You're welcome.
I agree with Martin's "What?!" when his daughter mentioned it was previewed before that Eighth Grade. Wasn't the same movie the industry attempted to circumvent the MPAA on showings?
At this point I don’t care how good the movie is, it’s been advertised so aggressively and shoved down my throat so often that I just don’t give a shit anymore. Doesn’t help that it looks very try-hard to me, kinda like Sausage Party
IKR? There was a point in time recently when I was watching an ad with Liam Neeson describing a Polish historic tragedy and I half expected it to stop mid-way through to say something like "But this is nowhere near as bad as the rampant and horrifying sugar epidemic grasping on tightly to the puppet community. Go see the Happytime Murders, in theaters, etc." Then again, they probably couldn't afford Liam.
So is Gwenny's full name Guinevere/Guenevere/Gwenevere? Back in the Arthur: Legend of the Sword review, Martin said he named one of his children after something out of Arthurian legend.
Another commenter mentioned it but Avenue Q is still the best show/story that integrated puppets and humans. The story is very relatable and they went about it in a way which is risqué nut not raunchy. Not to mention amazing songs from the musical and a great cast of character types.
Idk, the trailer and what people are saying it just seems like it's roger rabbit and sausage party, basically one great movie and one unfunny movie with raunchy humor. Also, just because people don't like raunchy humor doesn't mean there trying to be above this movie, they simply don't think this raunchy humor is that funny.
The Alien match up with Will Smith's character reference, had me thinking of another I vaguely remember watching 2 episodes of, on TV rerun - “Alien Nation” - it was set in LA after 300,000 members of an enslaved alien race, the Newcomers, landed in the Mojave Desert. James Caan as a police officer partnered with an alien, played by Mandy Patinkin.(1989). Erm, Melissa McCarthy was in 2016 all-female Paul Feig-directed reboot Ghostbusters, now puppets...challenging roles!;)
How awesome would The Equalizer, Training Day, Mile 22 and The Bourne Idenity series be but with puppets? This movie looked into the void. The void looks back and we open up all kinds of potentials. But with puppets.
What do you mean we've never seen "puppets using their legs before", Corey? We've seen this, at least, since The Muppet Movie in the late 70's. Sure, it didn't look quite like this, but they've shown the Muppets in full frame before.
I'm sorry Coleman, but there comes a day in everyones life where you must look yourself in the mirror and say, "I am above this. I AM better than raunchy puppets!"
Tissan Young it really is: 1. It’s raunchy 2. The characters are most likely assholes 3. It’s released in the month of August (bad movie month) 4. Tries to be edgy but fails big time at being funny yet mind blown.
I'm interested in this movie. I have a free ticket voucher so no sweat off my back. As for Melissa, she's better in smaller increments. She stole the movie in "This Is 40." I can't watch any movie where she is the star her being a female version of Will Ferrel/Kevin James, but she killed it in "Spy."
The performances are all really solid (imo, Melissa McCarthy is like Adam Sandler in the sense that they CAN both act when they stay in script). The puppet performers are on point. And honestly I wish they had done more with the history/world building since they hint in the ending credits about the Puppet Civil Rights Movement. Honestly I think what "ruined" the movie is the fact that the mystery itself is very by the numbers femme fatale double cross plot. It's really so overplayed, and once you realize who the killer is you kind of tune out. Oh yeah, about Meet The Feebles; that was the FIRST Peter Jackson film I'd ever seen, and then to hear later that he was going to be working on Lord of the Rings it made my brain explode. 😂
I feel like people just can't bring themselves to enjoy a simple comedy anymore. This was a comedy that was what it was and it never really pretended to be anything else. I understand that modern movies have spoiled most people by feeling the need to give us all manner of unnecessary plot twists and give EVERYONE some ridiculously convoluted back story. But sometimes it's ok for simple fun to just be simple fun. And I think that Happytime struck a pretty good balance there. I keep hearing reviewers say that they were board with it about 30 minutes in, but neither myself nor my wife got that at all. With a 5.1 on IMDb and a 22% (critic score) on Rotten Tomatoes, The Happytime Murders is getting a LOT of undue flack from critics. Not only was this film funny (assuming you're into raunchy laughs in the first place), but it was more serious than you would expect and it was better than it had any right to be. The writers actually took just the right amount of time to create fleshed-out (no pun intended) characters here and give them just enough motive and complexity, whereas they could have EASILY just...not. Which a lot of modern comedies of this nature don't bother doing. And Melissia McCarthy surprised me quite a bit playing against type as the "straight-man" in this comedy-noir...for the most part. I don't know what people expected going in as the trailers didn't lie to the audience, but even if they had the lowest of expectations, this movie should have pleasantly surprised most people and it feels as if they didn't want to like it or it was never up their alley in the first place; which shouldn't be the movie's fault. Hell, just seeing the magic of the world famous Jim Henson puppetry was almost worth the price of admission alone for me. And it WAS really good puppet work. Well...despite all of the hate that this movie is receiving, I haven't enjoyed myself this much or laughed this hard since the South Park movie in 1999 and, if nothing else, at least this means I'll have a shorter time to wait until I can get my copy on Blu-Ray...
Bingo. I kept hearing about no desire for solid storytelling on the part of the filmmakers and flat characters, but I got into it even though it was clearly just a parody.
Guys, I just came across a movie called Jack Brook's Monster Slayer. Would LOVE to see you guys review it because oh my goodness, it's very interesting indeed.
Hahaha. My husband said this is funny. We have opposite work schedules right now, so he saw it was on Netflix or Prime or something....but I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but looking forward to it when I have time. What the hell!!"Let My Puppets Come" 🤨..😂😂😂..they must have movie reviews of that on YT. "It's funny seeing puppets die", lol...You know one of my favourite comedies of all time has a puppet presence...Forgetting Sarah Marshal 😄...."And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the Lord I will slay him! A-ha-ha-haa! Take it from me I swear I will let it be so! A-ha-ha-haa!"...."How much I love you, die, die, die! I can't." ...Oh Peter's Dracula song. One of the creepiest and most hilarious cinematic serenades in recent entertainment history.
Anthony Aguilar not really, all he's doing is expressing his thoughts. It sounds more like the OG comment hit a nerve with you because you can't take it when someone has a opinion.
Also, I think that double toasted should have a rating or score thing in the middle of rental and some ol bullshit. Because rental is basically average and some ol bullshit is god awful. There's kinda a huge gap right there.
Disappointing 26% on Rotten Tomatoes “Happytime Murders got a disappointing 22% on Rotten Tomatoes "The movie wastes its intriguingly transgressive premise on a witless comedy that blindly pushes buttons instead of attempting to tell an entertaining story."
When she started laughing, I was like “Yep. She’s definitely Martin’s daughter, alright.” 😂
Kevin Rivera does she tell puns? 😂😂😂
RalphJr2020 God, I hope so lmao
I was about to say that lol
no you weren't. LOL
Martin =the dad your dad wishes was his dad.
That is definitely Martins daughter, she's got his smile, his nose and even his laugh, so adorable.
Low-key, she could pass as his baby sister.
Awww martin’s daughter is adorable
1:05 She felt that Toasty Goodness all over her body.
She looks like a little martin.
@Dexter White i somewhat doubt that...
Dexter White Uh... speak for yourself
Dexter White woah, where the fuck did this come from lmao
Damn, she even got the martin laugh
Martin brought his daughter. That's sweet.
God bless Martin's comfort talking about the smutty aspects of this movie in front of his girl. My son is a grown man and I still have to leave the room when we're watching an R-rated sex scene. Respect for parental honesty.
Martin's daughter looks exactly like a female version of him.I'm dead
This seems like a slightly amusing minute-long Robot Chicken bit painfully stretched out to feature length
The story merits the length. It only slows down for a brief moment in the middle but it is very well paced overall. I think this review nailed its analysis of the film. You guys are so great I watch your whole review of movies I don’t give a single shit about.
The JayShray Way same bro. I would never watch this even if they said BETTER THAN SEX
Anthony Aguilar your opinion

Not Chuck Productions the internet is for porn. The internet is for porn porn porn
Yes I surprised as well. Kory has never mentioned Avenue Q in any puppet discussion. s it possible he doesn't even know? If he doesn't it would be a great find for him.

Mongrels... bit obscure here in the states but it's basically a British south park but with muppets.
martin's daughter is so beautiful
Now you've invited people that disagree to say so.
Almost as beautiful as the items you'll get at DTMERCH.COM
And Uncle Korey is corrupting her with this puppet porn
She is as precious as Martin's laugh, and that is saying a lot.
she cute af
Those Puppets could've looked better if they sported some DT Merchandise.
Your daughter is a lovely woman, Martin! I can tell you guys truly love one another. I also remember you mentioned in the KING ARTHUR review that one of your kids' name came from Arthurian legend, so I can breathe easy knowing you didn't name your child "Merlin Thomas".

13:00-13:02
Martin's daughter looks so confused as Korey and Martin discuss the puppet designs. It's pretty hilarious.
she had that face because she heard someone knocking at a door; you can even hear Martin saying: is someone knocking at the door?
Having Martin as a father must be awesome! I would talk to him about movies all day just to hear his insight and thoughts.
Awww Martin’s daughter looks just like him. 💖 got a slice of wholesome toasty goodness today.
Martin's kid is awesome!
Is Martin going to announce he’s leaving too and his daughter is his replacement 🤔
DON't YOU DARE PUT THAT OUT INTO THE UNIVERSE
Great video :) Martin's daughter has her dad's laugh and sense of humor. :)
I wonder how Martin and Korey started their friendship? They are totally hilarious :) Great comedy duo :)

Unpopular Opinion: I didn't like Sausage Party.
That’s unpopular?
There’s a ton of people who hated that shit, but these guys loved the movie and I totally disagreed with them.
I HATED Sausage Party. Animated food cursing every three seconds stopped being funny after the first five minutes. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck goddamn shit pussy dick! Hey, I just wrote the first draft of Sausage Party II. You're welcome.
001monkeylove I agree I watched it on Netflix and more than anything I was disturb of the ending
I really don't feel comfortable watching Sausage Party, and I just watched some clips. The baby carrots getting eaten fucked me up.
I agree with Martin's "What?!" when his daughter mentioned it was previewed before that Eighth Grade. Wasn't the same movie the industry attempted to circumvent the MPAA on showings?
Read it for yourself: www.cnn.com/2018/08/07/movies/eighth-grade-free-screenings-trnd/index.html
I'm surprised no one talked about the TV show crank yankers
At this point I don’t care how good the movie is, it’s been advertised so aggressively and shoved down my throat so often that I just don’t give a shit anymore. Doesn’t help that it looks very try-hard to me, kinda like Sausage Party

Holy crap, Martin and his daughter have a nearly identical laugh 😆
Martin's daughter is lovely.
Crank Yankers gets no love
One of the funniest shows on Comedy Central
You guys should have done this review as puppets. I mean, you guys used to be cartoons, why not puppets? You guys as puppets would be awesome!
Another commenter mentioned it but Avenue Q is still the best show/story that integrated puppets and humans. The story is very relatable and they went about it in a way which is risqué nut not raunchy. Not to mention amazing songs from the musical and a great cast of character types.

Martin's daughter is adorable. Beautiful young lady. You must be proud.

Lookin just like her dad
martins daughter is gorgeous
she is martin's little girl? pleasure to finally see you miss
That's Martin's daughter
Anyone remember Team America? That was totally hilarious. Especially the sex scene. And the I'm So Wonwey song.
"Why is everyone so fucking stupid? Why can't they be more interigent? Rike me." - KJI
out of all times, you bring your daughter now? toasted for life :-)
SUP BABY. My computer ate this video up like macaronni waffles soda
She looks just like Martin
Damn. That’s martins daughter all right. Puts a smile on my face. Lol.
I didn't realize that Jim Henson's son directed this movie. It's a puppet movie sure but have to say I didn't expect that.
What do you mean we've never seen "puppets using their legs before", Corey? We've seen this, at least, since The Muppet Movie in the late 70's. Sure, it didn't look quite like this, but they've shown the Muppets in full frame before.
Meet the Feebles I remember finding at the VHS movie store. LOVED IT! haha
7:37 Make this woman a regular!
These guys are from Spill.com , I miss their reviews , they were funny!
Martin bringing his daughter for double the laugh's. Awesome
I'm not going to watch the film, but I'll get that DT gear. Once the Disney checks come through.
Been ready for this one
I'm sorry Coleman, but there comes a day in everyones life where you must look yourself in the mirror and say, "I am above this. I AM better than raunchy puppets!"
Sex and Violence was the first TV Pilot for the Muppet Show
She looks like Martin. Immediately I saw her I wanted to ask if they are related.
Martin is so funny, man
So is this like another Sausage Party or something?
Tissan Young it looks like it has the same type of raunchy humor.
Tissan Young it really is:
1. It’s raunchy
2. The characters are most likely assholes
3. It’s released in the month of August (bad movie month)
4. Tries to be edgy but fails big time at being funny yet mind blown.
It's like TED but a little bit funnier bc of Melissa McCartney, where as Mark Wahlberg wannabe action star was the other half of TED.
Just saw the movie Funny from begging to end Best Puppet Movie EVER!!!!
I would love to go to a Thomas family cookout
33:10... my count is 11 "don'ts" while Corey was stuck on his stutter.
I'm getting a Team America vibe from this
And I love that damn movie
Also Martin's daughter looks exactly like Kai Davis

Really high matinee. I had a good time, never bored, no masterpiece but was simple, easy-to-digest R-rated fun. With puppets.
Looks like we got a female Cat-Daddy!
SpideyKnight #catmommy
Martin daughter looks just like him
Remind me of the puppet episode from the TV show 'Angel'.
When he said "No offence to Big Willy, "I thought Korey was going to talk about I, Robot.

Anybody remember the BBC show Mongrels?
Guys, I just came across a movie called Jack Brook's Monster Slayer. Would LOVE to see you guys review it because oh my goodness, it's very interesting indeed.
Those shirts got that Toasty goodness like a cup of ginger tea on a cold Texas morning
Now watch your tone in regards to HBO and puppets! HBO had Fraggle Rock!

There was another story similar to this movie on Yahoo Screen years ago. Forgot the name, but the eventual bad guy was named Rainbow
Korey really loves his puppets
This is her "Theodore Rex" movie !
So surprising they didn’t mention Avenue Q
It's crazy this film is trying to capture that magic like with Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Martin =the dad your dad wishes was his dad
the first time I saw the trailer I thought it was "Avenue Q" was going to the-r that Dave Chappel skit
Cousin Skeet Skeet LOLOLOL
There's more to Jackass than filth. It took real creativity and balls to make that series as good as it was.
Nobody Special Didnt one of them rip open their balls?
TitanStoriesFromBeyond are you talking about the h3h3 video.
Martin hit a nerve with this one
Anthony Aguilar not really, all he's doing is expressing his thoughts. It sounds more like the OG comment hit a nerve with you because you can't take it when someone has a opinion.
Reptilian Lizard I can’t take it when someone else has an opinion? Lol. Who tf are you?
Martin's daughter looks just like another RUclipsr, Rambling Kai.
LOL "I thought you were pyuwerr"
To finally got a black woman in here
Also, I think that double toasted should have a rating or score thing in the middle of rental and some ol bullshit.
33:10 Damn korey what happened 😂
