I remember hearing them and aways turned up the volume.. and the emotional memories i was having at the time in the 90’s still get a cool nostalgic feeling when ever i hear them. Underrated for sure
Got into these guys when i was 14 and happy days came out...Saw the Waydown music video and got the album for my birthday,it was the 3rd album id ever listened to from beginning to finish without skipping a track..so for christmas i asked for Ferment and Chrome and had my mind blown...I cannot find music with the same feel as The Wheel, and really wished we got that reunion.
The kept to their heart even though each album was different which made them great. They were a major part of my life and wish they were still around and I wish I saw them in redbank nj.
Comparing CW and Coldplay is sort of like comparing my friend's 4th grade child's "artwork" to a Rembrandt. Both are "art", I guess--- but one has talent, composition, intellect- and the other is just trying to copy what it sees------------- (Certainly I compare CW to the Rembrandt)
How so? Have you seen Rob or Catherine Wheel live? They're worlds apart, apples & oranges in the songwriting department, totally different musical styles calling for totally different stage persona and attitude.
Rob Dickinson looks a little like Jude Law if Mr. Law were not alergic to food. I'm certain that Rob writes better songs though. Actually, maybe Jude Law has a foot locker full of 4 track tapes that he's made. For now, he's busy punching Robert Downey Jr. in the face in a theater near you.

TRUE UNDERDOGS!!! Well said!
Has anyone seen the Porsches Rob builds now with Singer? Amazing! I'd say he's happy where he is.
Yes and I’m so happy for him to be doing something he loves/another form of art…but I’d still LOVE a Catherine Wheel reunion someday.
@@lisa4662 agreed!
enough already, regroup CW
Where is part 2??
WHEN is THE CATHERINE WHEEL going to regroup already? They're the real whiskey to Coldplay's near beer.
"Loud rock and roll without the machismo"... that's a good description of so-called "shoegazing" music.

nk: A little hard on COLDPLAY, don'tcha think? Two very talented, creative bands, the diff being COLDPLAY knows how to MARKET itself.
@morymb COLDPLAY, of course, connoting the band and everyone working on their behalf, none of whom work in a vacuum.
@@SAHogan-ih3bo uh no I think the big difference is CW is leagues ahead in musicianship lol, regardless of who marketed better.
@@blindsidexv6244 BF is a singular guitarist, I'll give you that. Otherwise I don't see CW in the same league talentwise as YES, ZEP, or PURPLE.
CW best band of the 90s
Its funny how he wanted to shy away from the shoegaze sound. Ferment is such a good album and obviously their best seller. Keep it psychedelic!

Coldplay makes me sick. You hear them everywhere. They are such wimps.
if u havent heard xatherine wheel yet u r seriously missing out on some of the most melodic edgy "indie" rock that exists!
He deals in fucking expensive cars ;-) Do a bit of googling Sir...
The Possibilitizer-Realitizer of Me and Mine and Humanity and All
Evan Ralston by The Possibilitizer-Realitizer of Me and Mine and Humanity and All
Yes cold play ripped them off sort of.
Ironically, I think CW never quite lived up to the amazing promise they showed in their first two albums - clearly Rob would beg to differ!
RO: I agree. Dramatic falloff in quality afterward. Some scattered gems but no more great ALBUMS.
@@SAHogan-ih3bo I still like Adam and Eve. Wishville was eeh.
@@Tolohtony Like I've said, all their albums contain at least a couple of gems, even if they're not uniformly great. To each his own!
Their best record by far was their first "Ferment" which I have and love. It was down hill after that.
W: "Chrome" is in the same league, if a bit more muscular. Give it a re-listen.
Dude no way it went down hill after that lol
@@SAHogan-ih3bo I agree with you on that.
@@blindsidexv6244 Ferment stood up strong on every track afterwards the nuggets got fewer and fewer.
@@WhiteNacho I personally thought their only weak album was wishville, everything else I loved
CW > coldplay!

I know this comment is over a decade old but I’m just here to remind you it’s still cringy and weird as hell.
cacoph-caCOPHoney...
I think Bruce will always be a better performer and singer/songwriter than rob will ever be
harry gorrod obviously everyone in this thread will disagree but I'll agree with you
I think you are crazy saying that but to each their own lol
