Insulating the ceiling would help so much! If you are going to use that foil on the ceiling put it at the bottom of the rafters so you have a pocket of air between the foil and the ceiling. That empty pocket of air will act like insulation. Install the foil like it's drywall if that makes sense. You want a continuous wrap with air trapped above it.

@@1bigimpact Since it's not your building I totally understand. I live in a rented condo. I used the foil bubble wrap to seal off the Western window in my bedroom. Tape up and seal that air in as best as you can. I work in HVAC. Insulation and air sealing are are often the key to comfort.

That foil will also act as a reflective barrier to reduce radiant heat transfer. It will work. Real insulation plus an air barrier like drywall is better.

thank you so much i know but its not my building and just want a fix for the term of lease to try to reduce heat and cost if i renew i think ill ask to get it done that way thank you again!!!!!
