Thanks so much for these. Always loved exploring books and to get to look through such solid ones with someone talking through their thoughts on them feels really special.
Incredible!! I am 50 and just got back into the art as to make some type of attempt at doing a large back piece that I can call my masterpiece..I can’t imagine someone sitting for that time period for so many years…… Just brilliant thanks for taking the. Time to show this …
Filip was definatly inspired by Horisune II in general, if you look at the statue backpiece and the butterflies in the background, they are the same butterflys Filip used in the chrysanthemum backpiece, so I also really think he was inspired by the work in progress front piece.
Thank you so much for sharing this book! I really love his dragons and they look alive and powerful. I'm wondering where you found this book or if you know where I can purchase this book? Please let me know if you have any info. I appreciate your help!
Love your chanel, this book is a jewel! I wonder if the green in the tiger's back is the dragons glow on it, definitely gave me that impresion! The clear Chrysanthemums bodysuit from Filip Leu is it the one on Maxime ? It reminded me of it a lot when you flipped the page, Filipe Leu used some butterflies ton that one hat seemed inspired by Horitsune II as well.
I wish you could find this book more easily but maybe that's what makes books like these so powerful. Anyways I am hoping to find a copy when I go to Japan, among others.
I think I like this guy even more than Horiyoshi III, wow!

Arguably the best backgrounds and he inspired so many of my current favorite artists. Lucky enough to have a miyazo tattoo myself.
Did u need a translator? I’m looking to travel to Japan soon
