Mission statement for UNDER THE SURFACE
Tattoo Magazine was published by Easyriders. Outlaw Biker eventually put out magazines like Tattoo Revue, Tattoos For Men and Tattoos for Women. I worked for Outlaw Biker in the 2010s when magazines were becoming less and less popular.
what a crazy skinhead disposal story hahhahahah
Thanks for the Trigger warning, how sheltered are your fans ? C’mon man quit catering to soft fucking Lame Ass people soon as we stop bending to the will of the offended then obviously they will stop , yeah these were draw back in the day if people don’t like it all then let them tune out , we used to know that
THANK YOU FOR THIS !
Around 20 mins you mention an Indian sheet with hindu stuff that was from the UK! there was a UK/ Indian tattooist I'm sure he was called Sinbad !!I Dunno the timeline but if I guessed I'd say 60's 70's 80's wonder if it was maybe one of his tattoo flashes, interesting anyway good stuff buddy all the best from sunny Scotland
Great video
He's dragons are the best
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
48:18 she is using man pajama, so the pants are too big for her
i think Horitsune 2 have better backgrounds..
and the collaboration is between him, paul and guy
I don't understand at all, in the old pictures the shadows of the black and gray tattoos looked more homogeneous... is it because of the quality of the picture?
Not my favorite horishi but it’s a good piece for collection…very good book…thanks a lot for share it!!❤️🙇🏻♂️
What's horitsune Instagram?
36:43 what happened to this person’s bottom? I’m wondering what was the cause of this?
yeah I need this vid to stay up forever
it would be my great wish for you to make more videos going over japanese tattooing books
33:00 on right side of page water and kiku, he says that upper part/hikae represent heave, below waist represents earth/water. yet he has water in the sleeve and hika/heaven area. now he does say wind/clouds are preferred for heaven area(upper part), so is that how he gets around the rules? by saying it is just preferred to do cloud/wind in upper part, don't always have to do it?
Thanks for sharing this brother! Looking for a great book to learn more about all the rules and things that we don't find out here about american traditional tattooing. Hope that can be your next video
Damn you are a moron dude..dont know what you are talking bout do your homework before y judgeing others cuz you sound like a goofy who dont know anything about japa ese
Nice Magazine the woman in the cover Is #suzannefauser tattoo Artist
Incredible!! I am 50 and just got back into the art as to make some type of attempt at doing a large back piece that I can call my masterpiece..I can’t imagine someone sitting for that time period for so many years…… Just brilliant thanks for taking the. Time to show this …
extremely cool vid
yall should bring the channel back ngl
@9:40 that a huge tree behind him and not wind ! it's a base of a tree trunk under him
I'm so glad I had the forethought to buy the reissue collection Hardy put out some years ago. It is very hard to find these issues or that collection for a good price now.
I worked for this magazine (and the other Outlaw Biker titles...Tattoo Revue, Tattoos For Men) and learned a lot looking through the back catalog. I love the layouts of magazines and it's really a lost art now. Tattoos just look so cool in print.
Sitting here with my 2nd session on back healing now. Revisiting this video because Ive wanted this book for a while and these back pieces (really the body suits) are just truly powerful. It's quite a committment from both artist and client and these are still all next level pieces. Love them all but maybe the Kyosai dragon at 44:40 is my favorite
I am wondering - did you ever do a video on the Horitoshi book?
8:38 Cap coleman eagle, probably the most used design to cover up old works
Yeah that’s not Caps design bud, it predates him by a while.
May I ask where you purchased this book? or from where can I purchase a copy? Thanks!
Great video! thank you!
Great video! I just discovered the channel and really dig your content!
Awesome
Thank you so very much for showing this book! I've been trying to get a copy for years, and haven't had the ability to find one.
It seems like you don’t realise Miyazo is ‘the lad’ in the first pics in the book.
I wish you could find this book more easily but maybe that's what makes books like these so powerful. Anyways I am hoping to find a copy when I go to Japan, among others.
how has this only 830 views????
When it comes to tattoo content a lot of people would rather see "tattoo fails" or anything that has drama or controversy. Not tattoo history, sadly.
Thank you so much for sharing this book! I really love his dragons and they look alive and powerful. I'm wondering where you found this book or if you know where I can purchase this book? Please let me know if you have any info. I appreciate your help!
And do a video of your favorite pieces you’ve tattoo and why
Interview bill canales and hernan Coretta!
For me the back piece on minute 47 is simply great, I love the bigger claws, gives a lot of dynamic and depth to the whole image a bit disappointed you don’t like it
Would love to know if possible who the artist is on the page at 9:26 Bob shaw? Or?
goddamn hes just brilliant. also the flyers and typography stuff is SO good.
Can I find it in Amazon? Is there a first edition? Greetings from Mexico
Thanks really cool walk-through.
Awesome series mate!
The back piece that you thought was lobo is actually mick from Zurich. It’s a Felix Leu design tattooed by Filip
Seen this I think the answer is somewhat yes, Filip Leu is the best tattoo artist right now, probably ever, because we are getting unfortunately backwards since that, I can see it in contemporary works, that go more for minimalism, hardly doing a bodysuit with a fraction of this artistry. Great video, thanks.
Awesome
