  • Riedell Solaris roller skate boot size 10.5 mounted to a Labeda Pro-Line plate size 775.
Rolling on Grey Suregrip Monza 95a with Rollerbones Swiss 6 bearings.
Roller skate mount process 8X speed.
After mounting these up, they had fingerprints all over them.
I gave them a good shine with Mothers Aluminum polish.

Shew! I feel old lol. When I was skating, the Riddell Grand Prix with the laser plates and power grip wheels were the pinnacle of skates!

Your skate builds are great! I'm pretty fussy about who builds my skates so I do them myself, but you look like someone who takes the same amount of time getting them right, rather than rushing them. Good work!

Thank you! I’ve been building skates for ages and just recently started recording some of them. I want my customers to be 100% satisfied with the build.

Great setup. Similar to my setup. I have the 2012 red and white riedell 911 boot with the labeda pro-line plates with 7mm bone Swiss ceramic bearings in red power plus sure grip wheels.

Excellent vid! My exact sizing as well!! Love it!

I find the sizing here interesting - by normal standards this is a very long mount no?
It does look beautiful having more space between the wheels TBF, but I wonder about agility, especially with such a small kingpin angle.
I've ordered them size 10 with a 675 plate which is considered a shortish-standard mount

Is it important to use the spacers between the bearings?

A bit confused about the washers. Why use washers *and* locking nuts? They would seem to be at cross-purposes, right? Or am I missing something?

    • @kdschroeder25
      @kdschroeder25  2 года назад +1

Washers keep the nuts from chewing up the plate.

Love these jawns. I’m assuming labeda makes the best chassis for roller skates as they do for roller blades like roller hockey skates. Are those your favorite wheels? I’m interested in making the move from blades to skates and am looking into the solarias pros

How tight should the mounting bolts be? Is there a torque spec?
I've seen videos not recommending overtighteing because it causes stress on the boot and can cause separating over time? How are you gauging the tightness ( bolt is flush with the inside of the boot, for example)?
On a side note, I typically wear a heeled skate, but that solaris looks so comfortable!

I hand tighten everything. Don't over tighten to where the sole starts to dimple inside or the bolt might strip/break.

Mounted my Solaris boots and didn’t initially like the feel. The left boot was too far back and inside on the plate. Felt like I was rolling over the left front wheel and had no push. Remounted the plate and am pretty happy with them at this point. What did you use for reference when measuring the boot? Seems deceptively simple to mount skates and want to avoid re-drilling holes on my next pair. Thanks for sharing your work!

I've been doing it for over 30 years - I just eye them up and check for center and axle placement. You could also use a centering boot mark frame.

@@kdschroeder25 does using spacers depend on the type of wheels or is it more the type of plate? Sorry for all the questions I'm a noob.
