so humanity was giga chad for about 25k years then a conbinde robot uprising and the warp (basically hell but you have to go there to move faster then light works kinda like the nether from Minecraft as 1km in the warp is like 1000km in real space) the warp became real hard to navigate thanks to warp storms so FTL no longer works and most of humanity's planets n are devastated from the robot war then space wizards start to ba a thing problem is wizards get there power from the warp where all the demons are so demonds start pezesing them and making life even worse for humanity. earth now called Terra is a s**t hole then a man called the GOD EMPEROR OF MANKIND (who in my headcanon is a reincarnation of Ronald Reagan I know it not true but it should be) the emperor makes 21 sorry I mean 19 sons who are basically all gigachads. then the chaos gods who are the gods being gods of violence, lust, disease and being a d**k kinda they gods for demons kinda they steal the Emperor's kids and scatter them around the galaxy. then the emperor make some gigachads lites to conquer the earth then after that he makes better gigachad lites and calls them space marines. then he teams up with mars to go retake all humanity's lost territory and find his kids who are called primarchs btw space marines are made but changing someones dna to be like a primarch so space marines call the primarchs their fathers. the emperor gets all his kids except for the 2 we don't talk about then after retaking most of the galaxy 1/2 of the kids and their space marines (each son got made a genral and given the space marines that were based on their DNA) rebled and joined chaos (the demons) one civil war later the emperor is kinda 1/2 dead on like hospital life support but unlike life support it takes the souls of wizards to power not electricity. then one of the still living loyal sons guilliman (papa smurf) makes the codex astartes (shut the f**k up Leandros) it basically a rule book for the space marines. the emperor told people to not worship him as he isn't a god but as he kinda stuck of a chair on earth around 3 or 4 thousand years later they start worshiping him and 6 or so thousand years after that is what called modern 40k set in the 41st millennium aka about 39k years from now. the empire of mankind has kinda gotten crap to live in as the leader the emperor is asleep at the wheel and all his sons ether died betrayed the empire of just racked of for a bit. so of them, just nobody knows where they are the only reson the empire is still kicking is it has unholy amounts of manpower to throw and any problems when they appear. the average man works 15 to 18 hour shifts and doesn't really get payed if you even think slightly different to the normal you are burned at the stake and just because why not demands brake into real space and kill people in horrible ways semi-regularly. side note the Eldar (space elves) had a big cool empire of there own but the warp and demons feed off people's emotions and the Eldar happy fun timed so much and so hard it made a new chaos god and killed 99% of them now the last 1% is split between the eldar and the dark eldar but as I am not pancreas no work I am not an elf simp so fk the eldar yes I play imperial gard yes thats why I hate them so much. I have spent around 20K aud on this game and I both regret nothing and everything. if you looking for books to read I would start with the Commissar Cain series as it more grounded and has a lot of the Warhammer sillyness toned down than move on to Dark Imperium as it tells you the major things happening in the setting right now. that should give you a good grasp of what 40k all about other good books are Krieg because funny trench warfare outguned because propaganda funny gaunt's ghosts is a more serious Commissar Cain then the Horus heresy is really long and not recommended for newcomers but once you understand 40k it is really good. Yes I know I didn't talk about the orks or TAU. orks just like killing people and are pritty good at it and I hate the Tau so much I almost vomited writing there name. ok there new lore is pretty good but I to lazy to talk about it. PS sorry for the spelling dyslexic and it been a long day.
