The Police in Hong Kong used quite a variety of vehicles over the decades with many of them being used in films ranging from Minis through to Mercedes vans. They had begun to favour Japanese vehicles from the late 1970s onwards which is not surprising as the police in other Far Eastern countries mainly tended to use cars from the "Land of the Rising Sun". then German vehicles were picked from the late 80s to the 90s like Mercedes by the HK Ambulance Service as well as the Police. Hong Kong Police have used Land-Rovers, Ford Transits , Ford Cortinas and several Australian Ford models ,Toyota Crowns , Leyland Sherpas and large Japanese trucks including Daihatsus.
The Police in Hong Kong have (and I Think Still DO) used Land Rovers of one form and another as well as various Japanese makes & models,Ford Cortinas,Escorts and Transit Vans plus various Australian Ford models of which feature in the Jackie Chan "POLICE STORY" Films. The livery was as in most Asian countries Black/Navy Blue and White, fitted with US style Red & Blue rectangular light barsin the late 70s/early 80s making the cars look like American Police cars.
I think that's from Uwant.com and I remember I found this in the following link below: www.uwants.com/viewthread.php?tid=12092508&extra=&page=1 And oh there are so many pages! You have to find it page by page!
Sadly, I presume that car was fake, as you can see it has small blue and red lights which back then they supposed to be all blue, and it's registration first two letters are 'BP', which also supposed to be AM6xxx to AM8xxx, AM98xx or AM99xx reserved for police vehicles, and I read that someone on FB mentioned the film crew bought the MKIII from a scrapyard then modified it for filming. Other than that, I haven't yet found any info and photos of MKIII Cortina being officially used by RHKP, but they do appear in other HK films in 70s, most are estates, but again i don't know if the film crew bought the cars then modify.
Get this! I transferred to an international school a few months back, and my media teacher, british fellow was an inspector during the late 80s. Vauxhall much :3
I still remember all the police vehicles back from that era. Nice!
Ford are no longer in service! All Benz and Iveco!

Wasn't a Police Cortina Mk III used in a Pink Panther film shot in HK?

I miss the days when the HKPF was the RHKPF, and when they wore BA summer dress :/
Yeah me too, green uniforms are awesome!
