I'm so used to the insane benefits and support American athletes receive. 2 practices a day, weight training, physiotherapy, massage therapy, recovery baths, and nutritionally-balanced meals, not to mention a roof over their heads and as much rest as they need. These young Indian athletes are so hard-working, they would absolutely be winning international competitions if they were given the same support.
Cuz India has a huge population and corrupt goverment. I am a 100m 200m runner athlete and we have to pay bribes to scouts just to get selected for an event after proving our talent.

I have seen athletes running at JLN Stadium or nearby kartavya path. Many of them are from grassroot. All these are true strugglers. There stories are inspiration but at the same time it disappoint me somewhere.
No doubt our system is doing something by providing jobs for sportperson, accessibility to sports amenities,sport quota in defence,etc. But still there is long way to go.
the coach is a gem . Wish we had the same mentality with cricket and football in indian . India top of the podium ..
This is so sad, so many medals, so much training, so many events and being treated like this. I am not undermining the ability of Indian athletes but this where we are clearly failing. Olympic medal is a glory to achieve and every single politicians will take credit for it but when it comes give sustainability and justice to these athletes, every politicians will either run from their responsibility or promote propaganda of anti-national or call them free loaders.
What do you expect when we have arrogant religious fanatics like Brij Bhushan and Anurag Thakur in administration?
that's the issue why do you think our education system and our healthcare and our sport facilities are not improving because these thing don't get them votes to win ..... like if you take an example of UP bjp did better than any government in the past still they lost just because of a party that promises to give free money and to increase reservation for some specific caste so people voted for these thing ... @@drago4803 Its quiet a deep psychological and philosophical question and it can go deep down the rabbit hole as we discuss more. Let me cut short for you, its how human society evolved over time. Playing sports does not mean "not contributing to anything". In Societal sense it is contributing through many way for instance, motivation for fitness, pushing physical level, entertainment etc. Contribution can be further extended to what transaction is being made out between the parties and in what context.

I had practiced in jawaharlal lal nehru stadium. I took a pause in my journey in 2022 when I was in class 10th due to financial problem.... I decided to continue my study... now I have completed my 12th (science stream - pcm) and I am start preparing for nda exam... There are so many problem if you have not enough money and family support as it will cause depression and increase pressure in the athlete life in sport... I think government should support these athlete by organising tournament and give atleast enough scholarship to meet their expenses of around 6-12 months.

1.Money- for balanced diet, supplements, message therapy many other expenses, gym expenses.
2. Education- amazing coaching.
3. Mindset
4.hardwork
5.genetics
6.Patience

Arey simple admi bhi yadi sirf gym kare tab 5 k minimum kharch ayega for high quality protein, supplements.
Gym ka to chod do. For building amazing strong body.
Yaha to socho world level me compete karna hai. Without money in sports possible nhi hai progress.

High-time Indians look beyond cricket and IPL. Who are the athletes, boxers, wrestlers and hockey players who have been making India proud with medals? Most of them come from villages and small towns with very humble means and fought much harder to make it to the national and international stage. If we celebrate their medals, we must celebrate their struggle too, and they are in thousands.

YEah, I do like the system of private sponsorships the American athletes get. I am not saying that government shouldn't spend on athletes, but privatisation in this sector can completely change the face of Indian sports.

It's truly disheartening to witness the challenges faced by national-level athletes, even those who hold national records, in maintaining their training regimens. Who bears the responsibility for this situation? AFI ought to step in and offer support to these committed athletes who have already demonstrated their prowess at the national level!

its all about popularity of sport among people ek taraf ek bowler ko 2 mahina khelne ke 24 crore milte hai kyunki wo cricketer hai aur dusri taraf ye
BNHS had program of adopting a bird / animal. Essentially someone to adopt a bird and pay for its conversation. We should have something similar for these athletes.
In developed countries most of the athletes work outside.. Even in tennis most of the players except top 2-3% work somewhere to make end meet.. So there should not be too much fuss..
This is the reality of sports persons in India, where cricketer gets 100 crore ads sponsored, and then these athletes who worked as a gigs workers just to buy a 5000 rupees shoes.
Okay i will say this we need this to have an audience for these sports for that there is a need of a call it a movement or anything to sustain this financially like in US the college sports is a spectacle for one to enjoy just like that these athletes needs that rather than just a sad video which will neither get any views or any liking and there will be a small number of smypathizer's only.

@@lovlina11 Reservations are a solution to nothing, the award money for competitions should be increased and tickets should be sold along with live telecasts of state and national tournaments. Making sports popular among the people is the way to go.
