    Amazing explanation. What would be the coordinate of z if a range was given?

    • @monsieurLDN
      @monsieurLDN 7 месяцев назад +1

      They wont give a range z in the second example becayse you want to parametrize to the xy plane

    I have a doubt. Suppose in the last example i only want a part of a plane so how should i choose the limits?

    • @drpeyam
      @drpeyam  3 года назад

      Depends on what part of the plane. Usually it’s just the bounds of the parameters that change

    What is a good textbook on real and complex analysis for an undergrad level STEM student? Is Rudin's OK?

    • @drpeyam
      @drpeyam  4 года назад +3

      Rudin is bad for a beginner. Try Fitzpatrick for real and brown and Churchill for complex

    I had a fun time deriving the parametric equations for a torus while bored at work one day.

      Also, I found out it's MUCH nicer to describe a path along a sphere in terms of polar coordinates (aka parametrization) instead of in rectangular coordinates

      @@GhostyOcean try describing the geodesic on a sphere in spherical vs rectangular coordinates

    • @GhostyOcean
      @GhostyOcean 4 года назад +1

      @@thedoublehelix5661 if the geodesic is along one of the axes then it's easy in either way. I'd imagine it's EXTREMELY easy with polar along a skewed geodesic in comparison to rectangular.

    the last one about the plane was not clear like other surfaces. a lot of hand waving and glossing over vector algebra. it will be nice if you can point out the underlying vector algebra video if you have done any. thanks for responding.

    • @drpeyam
      @drpeyam  4 года назад +1

      I mean there isn’t much vector algebra involved, you find one vector and then another one and then take linear combinations. I have a lot of linear algebra playlists that cover that, such as one on Linear Equations
