- I now finally have the DNA results of both my rescue dogs so let me tell you what breeds they are. What would you have guessed?
I didn't film the testing process but both test were saliva swab tests and the results took around 4-5 weeks to get.
If you want to find out more about my dogs' backgrounds I've done a separate video where I talk about the adoption process: • Adopting a dog from Ru... &list=UULF_wCE-Cg93kRDlZlhl4CZDA
This video was not sponsored by either of the brands mentioned. But for future rescues I sure hope to be sent a test. x)
Just a note; I obviously knew both my dogs are mixbreed and that is not at all why I might seem a bit disappointed in the results. It just feels a bit silly to pay over 100€ per test for breed identification if it's only going to tell you that you have a mixed breed dog. Wisdom panel returns your money if you get a so called "super mutt" result but Embark has instead added village dogs as "breeds" in their database which I find a bit sketchy.... Anyways, love both my dogs very much and I don't really care what breed they are. The DNA tests are mostly just good fun and should always be taken with a grain of salt. I just find different dog breeds, appearances and behavior interesting to analyze.
That’s totally understandable! Like you could have just guessed ‘village dog’ without paying any money. Seems a bit lazy on their behalf
When people would ask what breed someone's dog was, a popular response was "he's a Heinz 57".
You have two wonderful dogs, no matter what they are. I'm so glad you adopted them. I live in U.S. and have six adopted dogs. Four are from within the U.S. borders and two are from Puerto Rico.
The best breed is "100 per cent mine" (I mean My Dog) 😆
Thanks for sharing the results, very interesting about different mixtures and breeds
Both your dogs looks so happy and sweet! 💚🧡

Ah wow so interesting! Would have guessed some kind of shepherd dog mixture (both), maybe even aussie shepherd (long shot) 😊 They say mixbreed dogs are the most balanced dogs (in behaviour), would you agree based on your experience? I dream to rescue a pair of dogs one day! For now I'll watch Frodo & Koda 😂 Love them ❤
The bear dog are VERY brave
Interesting, never new you can find this about dogs.
Malian Bear Dog is what I thought.
I was 100% right
Kalyan Bear Dog sorry for spelling
:)
Embark has gotten so sketchy and money hungry.
Back when I dna tested my dogs (3) there was only one breed reveal test and you could opt to pay extra for the health portion. Included was a family tree, an age chart that was surprisingly accurate and we got these cool dog tags that you could put on your dogs collar that had a barcode to that dog’s embark profile.
Now you get no freebies and they decided to chop up the tests into breed, health, age and purebred for maximum profit. Lame af.
I can’t say anything about the village dog issue though. That’s just how it is with heavily mixed dogs. One of my dogs came back with 7 different breeds so if the breed information is there for Embark to take I don’t see why they wouldn’t list breeds.
