at 2:10 you didn't explain the best: how it works is that on the specific stroke breastroke, you are allowed to do a "pullout", (you can't do this in any other stroke) when you turn or dive in. The pullout consists of one singular dolphin kick (which is allowed multiple times on other strokes), followed by a push from your arms (think of it as an arm circle) then a breaststroke kick. Van Der Burgh bent the rules by doing multiple breaststroke kicks, while only being allowed one.
Poor explaining on the swimming side of things. It's not about how many kicks unless u are swimming BREAST STROKE - in which competitors are allowed ONLY one underwater dolphin kick- The dude cheated by using 3 underwater kicks at a BREAST STROKE race instead of one. Otherwise every other stroke - which IS NOT breast stroke - you are allowed to kick as many times as you like ... The only limitation is that you do not exceed the 15m mark ... i.e u are supposed to break the surface within that 15m or face disqualification... It's a bit misleading the way you explained it... Cz at 2:23 we see everyone doing more than 3 kicks.

So from my experience as being a gymnast, younger for a very very long time was considered better. In the beginning with women's gymnastics it was adult women and gymnastics wasn't nearly as hard. But then Bela Karolyi came around and it switched to very young girls because they were easier to control and had a much easier time doing everything because of their size, it was also better to be young because you wouldn't go through puberty until you were 16. Nadia Comaneci was the first gymnast to get a 10 at the olympics and she was 14... they eventually made the rule because it was smarter and it better interest for the girls. But the older you are, the more you grow (which can throw you off of your skills for over a year) and the harder the sport is on your body (the less pounding it can take). This is why most female gymnasts in america are 15 turning 16 the year of the olympics. Simone is another story and she's just the best there ever will be and has put more of the solid muscle gymnast (but even that hasn't been around for that long)
Increasing size implies you have to spin faster, speed of the outer body parts, in order to achieve a given number of rotations in a second, which determines the maximum number of rotations which can be made in a jump. The force needed for perform a rotation goes up as the square of the shoulder width, and the square of the height for tumbles. (The mechanical work needed to achieve a given speed is the square of the velocity. (Newtonian mechanics) ) All impact pressures are greater for 2 reasons (a) with increasing size, the weight per unit of surface area goes up. (b) greater impact speed
100% can u imagine the amount of human body enhancement pharmaceuticals we would have... it would epicly transform the entire human race in such a "dope" way
There is reason to believe she was cheating from age 12 onwards : her cross fit performances are not impressive, yet she was utterly dominant as a teen. 4:32 why tf are u showing a ballet dancer while talking about gymnastics they are literally 2 very different sports. Edit: Idk what the internet or professionals say, but most dancers consider dancing a sport so that is what I am going to call it. Please don’t assume anything about the two if you have not done them. In comparison, saying dance and gymnastics are similar would be like saying football and soccer are similar. Actually it’s known that female gymnasts peak from 12-16 years of age. So being young actually could give her an advantage. An example of this is Katelyn Ohashi, who peaked at ~14 years of age but was ineligible for the 2012 olympics
@@thetreekeeper143 The advantage lies in their bodies... younger muscles/bones are more flexible and lighter, therefore the younger gymnast is able to contort the body with more ease, jump higher, & land lighter. To be honest the first honorable mention wasn't really cheating she was abused and her life was ruined and to be honest she was so skilled that she could compete to years too young she was really a prodigy
Sam K. It’s only ignorance in your comment. As ex-nurse, i saw a young woman who had a feminine body but her DNA was male and she had no vagina ( we don’t examine gynecology on a young kid), no ovaries but inside testicles, a uterus with rare periods and no feminine hormones but a lot of testosterone. She was a « great hermaphrodite », a gender error who the base is always a male on DNA but with an exterior feminine body. The mind and manners are always male too. We discovered her case when she should make tests for pre-Olympic standards. It’s not very rare.

Nope. Russians got banned for only a FEW athletes that used the prescription medication Meldonium. Look it up. It's not a steroid...doesn't make you faster, stronger or better. It was all a political conspiracy and one day, this will be revealed. It was banned in December 2015...6 months before Rio. To date, it has not even been proven to enhance athletic performance. Secondly, you should be looking at the Americans when it comes to steroid use. Those big, fast, powerful and athletic competitors who seem to win every sport...you should not be looking at the lithe/skinny Russian tennis players, gymnasts and swimmers who lose to those big Americans. Use your common sense...you almost did.
The sad thing about Marion is that she hardly need it. It may have even hampered her performance. When I was running college track I started to take androstenedione my junior year. It increased my endurance in training and therefore my performances. But it likely led to a serious injury at the conference championships. The improvement in my performances weren't so significant that I might not have done as well or better without it. Use was encouraged by a coach, who said I was too skinny.
I cheated during my junior high school year by making notes during exam because i was always at the bottom 5. I just wanted to pass and not left behind. Thank god after that i moved to an 'easier' school and the other students turned to me for cheats lol.
I have been a competitive swimmer for 8 years and I can confirm that number four was so far off from the truth. There is no limit on dolphin kicks other than you can't farther than 15 meters underwater except on breaststroke which is what he was swimming. But they don't do enough to stop him from breaking the world record.
I cheated at my See Test thingy where you need to klick a button if you see a light point, well one thing is, you are able to hear when the light points pop up, so I just klicken when i heared them even tho I couldn’t see them :,)
I was going to take the ACT test. My grandpa gave me a way of cheating and getting away with it. It was the same way that he got into nuclear submarine school. I turned out to have the highest scores in the region.
Unfortunately, I never cheated in sports because I was so competitive I had to do it honestly or didn't count in my mind; BUT I did cheat once on a chemistry test in high school. Had a small cheat sheet on the inside thigh stuck to my jeans lol got a few wrong on purpose of course so it wasn't obvious 😂🤦♂️
LOL yes same here. Getting a few wrong makes it like nothing happened. My Spanish teacher in college said she would know if we cheated since the answers for lessons were in the back of the textbook. Even with this new rule, its very hard to tell if someone only does 1 dolphin kick. Most officials also get disadvantaged from glare of the water. Most illegal double butterfly kicks go unnoticed.

Being a world record, they likely used underwater cameras to make sure the swim was fully legal. If he had merely won, it is unlikely anyone would be bothered to check.
To be honest the first honorable mention wasn't really cheating she was abused and her life was ruined and to be honest she was so skilled that she could compete to years too young she was really a prodigy
Yea I agree
Her youth gave her an advantage as young people are more flexible
Was once caught googling an economics exam. Good thing it wasn't a national certificate sitting. 😂
I love how Ben Johnson is always in those lists as if Carl Lewis was clean
But he didn’t get caught
I hate when people make claims without evidence. Good job greg
@@37parman hahhaha!!! no evidence...hahahaha!!!!!!

What about flojo?
Shabby footage. The men’s 100 footage is Lynford Christie from Britain winning 4 years later. Not even the right olympics.
Out of curiosity... HOW WAS THE NURSE "NOT SURE" OF HIS GENDER?!?!? JUST LOOK UNDER HIS DIAPER!!!!
@@murielvaillancourt3855 Well, you didn't have to call me ignorant, but thanks for explaining it anyway
"Sam K" not so easy
I cheated on an 8th grade history test once. They always say “put your stuff under your chair” and I did. Just my notebook was open to a page where I could see the notes we went over in class and my backpack was hiding it...
My College Coach said..... If You ain’t Cheating. You ain’t trying!!!!!
I cheated in Halo Reach when I was playing in a custom game with friends. They somehow didn't see me enter their separate party and I was able to hear all of their plans and tactics without them even knowing. All I had to do was remain silent and react to their movements. Also.i won the game and they still didn't realize that I was listening in
When I was doing these fake tests in year 2, I was an idiot. I was that terrible at division, when a division question came up, I took my pencil, and I turned the division sign into a plus sign @-@
Why are they talking about Ben Johnson but showing Linford Christie winning?
Yep, ridiculous.
That was the semifinal 1 heat of the Olympics. Ben let up at the end there... Doesn't really matter I guess. Both were cheaters.
@@msouza808 it does matter, Ben Johnson broke the world record at the biggest event, admitted his guilt and has shown no remorse. He even continued to brag about how nobody had ever broken his world record (until bolt came along).
Christie always denied ever being a cheat (British authorities even cleared him after he tested positive after his last race, until the IOC stepped in with its considerable weight and the grits buckled and banned him). As far as I'm concerned, I'm to be convinced on that one. Not saying he didn't do It btw. But he never ever broke the world record.
@@msouza808 yes it does. They are different people.
In that final, all of them bar one tested positive in the end....
I cheated at the game “uno” when I was little me and my brother were playing with my grandma and I put a draw four on my toe and my brother grabbed it with his toe and played the card on my grandma so we could win. Lol 😂
LOL
Love how everyone is confessing to cheating
I hid a list that had the spelling words in my desk, and got 20/20 and got my test almost ripped up.
i know goddamn well everyone has cheated on a test
Not me I don’t have any tests 😁😁
Then you look at Russia who got away with decades of steroid use. The fact they still lost in some events amazes me.
The fact they’re ‘punished’ yet still allowed to compete under the supposedly neutral ‘Russian Olympic Committee’ flag is even more baffling.
3:05 that high jump technique looks absolutely ridiculous and hilarious

I was cheating copiying at my classmates paper on a test

Unfortunately, I never cheated in sports because I was so competitive I had to do it honestly or didn't count in my mind; BUT I did cheat once on a chemistry test in high school. Had a small cheat sheet on the inside thigh stuck to my jeans lol got a few wrong on purpose of course so it wasn't obvious 😂🤦♂️
LOL yes same here. Getting a few wrong makes it like nothing happened. My Spanish teacher in college said she would know if we cheated since the answers for lessons were in the back of the textbook.
