She's dating the gangster was based from one of the best selling book and the original ending is Athena died early and Kenji committed suicide but they changed the ending in the movie but still the movie hits differently compared to the book and I really loved it.
I didn't have any phone 5 years ago so I hadn't finished the book. This is so sad to know.
Its from Wattpad/ebook I read it first before the movie.

The old Athena (Dawn Zulueta) and Kenji (Richard Gomez) was one of the most loved Love Team of their time. Even Gomez's wife is a hard core fan of the said love team. That's why when the old Athena (Dawn) made a cameo on the later part of the movie all the movie-goers inside the movie house were in awe seeing them in one movie after so many years. It's a kinda producers' little surprise for the audience.

even when you watch it all over again, the emotions and feelings are still the same. this movie is a timeless!!!
many people cried with kathniel's 'THE HOW'S OF US' sis everyone leaving the cinema sniffing and still crying so watch it! also it was the highest grossing filipino film in ph that time it was really so good bet you'll cry a river again!
I love this movie the twist they gave it that made it different from the book was perfect. I was a fan of the book, and I remember being so happy that Kathniel was chosen as the main characters. The book still made me cry more,but the movie is perfect too.
I absolutely love this movie! I love all the movies that KathNiel were in together! This movie though really does hit you in the feels. It always makes me cry whenever I watch it especially when Athena dies in Kenji’s arms.
I was so young when they became an item. Like, they started out as a love team in the series "Princess and I". I thought they weren't going to end up together in that series but they did! And on their second series, "Got to believe", it was so fucking romantic! It's like the opposite of "She's dating the gangster" because in "Got to Believe" Daniel was the one with an illness. Instead of a heart illness, he had a bullet stuck in his skull which made her mother overprotect him. The ending of the series was amazing!

Great reaction again, Nicole! She's dating the gangster remains in my top 2 favorite KathNiel movies ever along with Can't help falling in love. If you are looking for a new BL, there's going to be Gaya Sa Pelikula (Like in the Movies), the writer is a big KathNiel fan and said that it's going to have a lot of KathNiel references throughout the series. It even had a She's dating a gangster reference in the teaser.

To think that the older Kenji and Athena have a lot more history than Kathniel in real life....

This reminds me of my innocent childhood. When I first saw the movie I didn't get the plot. Years later after watching it again and finally got the story, i cried. The fact that the old athena and kenji also experienced kind of the same events, made me more emotional. Real life couple but things happened and they broke up one now they have their own happy family😭😭. My OG loveteam before Kathniel ❤️❤️

I’m not filipino but I’ve seen several filipino movies and definitely the movies starring Kathniel are my favorite, in my opinion, it’s amazing the chemistry this couple has, even though they already broke up a few months ago, I hope they get back together again.

And if you want you could also watch "Hello, Love, Goodbye" Kathryn is the main actress there but her partner is not Daniel, it's Alden. And I guarantee you it's really good it will touch your heart.
