Glad the old town in Puerto Rico is doing well. When I visited (years ago), I skipped going inside the fort because I wanted more time for pina coladas! It does look pretty neat inside. That was so nice of Randy!

I'm from Puerto Rico, somehow stumbled here, and love your videos (also saw the one in Condado for day #1... I live in Condado). Agree 100% with everything you say and thank you for your recommendation: come visit, is the best way to help. I remember after Hurricane Katrina New Orleans said "we are open for tourism and business travel. Don't have pity of us, bring your annual meetings here, come again. Best way to help is reengage and foster tourism".... same thing here in PR. We have the 3d largest system of caves in the world, the only tropical rain forest in the US, the largest radio telescope in the world (although China is building the largest now), you don't need a passport to come, food is amazing (tons of restaurants and local fresh cuisine) and people are mega friendly. Thanks for your videos.

This is my last video from San Juan. In my next video, I will be going to the countryside of Puerto Rico, where the hurricane damages are much worse.
First I wanted to share this video on Old San Juan, truly one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods I have explored in any city. In Old San Juan, the power is back and the area is ready for tourists.
Other parts of the island... not so much. Many people in rural areas are without power and every day is a struggle. I hope you stay tuned for the next videos. I will work hard to show you both the struggle and the beauty of the Puerto Rican countryside.
    Puerto Rico Se Levante! 🇵🇷

The New Travel Thanks! You're doing a great job showing that PR need help but at the same time is a wonderful place. I spent 3 months without power and most days without water. There's a lot of places that need help and showing this videos, people is aware of the problem we are facing. Have a great time in my beloved island. If I can help you with something, try to reach me. I will love to help you to enjoy the beauty of PR.

I used to live there. I had to work a lot but the weekends were fun. If you love scenery, rent a car and go to to west and south of the island. I was lucky to work with people who enjoyed seeing the island. If you are looking for damage stop in the smaller towns along the way. Good for you traveling and creating awareness. Your video was well done with great editing. Being broke in PR is way better than being broke here in Columbus, Ohio. Many people don’t know that you don’t need to change money in PR, it’s the US Dollar. You don’t NEED to know Spanish! 80% of the people are bilingual. You are not going to be mugged walking down the street. PR has everything the 50 states have. Same with USVI’s. The more you see, the more you will be addicted to PR. Safe travels! I love you San Juan and PR!!!

I'm watching this because I've planned since last summer to go to PR for a mini vacation. Anyway, some people (Puerto Ricans) have told me that I shouldn't go there anymore because of "feeling guilty". But I did some research and tourism company in PR is saying that PR needs tourism income. So I don't know what to do now, go or cancel, still got 1 more month before my planned trip.

  • @josebenitez3732
    @josebenitez3732 6 лет назад

    Whitehouse? NO!
    Capitol Building (Legislature) "El Capitolio"
Governor's Mansion, "La Fortaleza" is next to "La Puerta de San Juan" (The Door to San Juan) in the old city. Next to the entrance to the harbor.
    Yes, visit the Island!
Try to stay in Old San Juan for at least 3 nights, there are several well priced hotels. That will save you loads of cash and time in taxis rides. It will also give you time to see all the historic sites, bars, restaurants and stores.
Old San Juan is a pedestrian city, so get on your walking shoes and enjoy.
Many donations, in some cases, to charities are unfortunately consumed in by administrative and fund raising cost.
So heck to make sure you get the biggest bang for your donation dollars.

You have to be careful donating to Charities. The majority of them take hefty fees from your donation. So say you donated $10. That $10 once the Charity takes their cut out of the money and by the time it reaches the Destination will be around $4. Vultures those ones are.

How about some historical context while you were at the Fort? Take some cues from rick steves and try offering a little more educational narrative in your videos.

Ok haha no problem, I say that because sometimes people confuse the two. When I was in Costa Rica I met someone who was getting msgs from their family asking how they were doing after the hurricane. Even though it's a completely diff country 😆😏
