Great video on showing the difference between serrations and straight edge. I think having your mom demonstrate it is better since she is not as strong as you. It shows how devastating a knife like that can be even with less force 🔪
As Thompson said there are smaller people, older, people, weaker people. I would add not everyone can afford a gun and not everyone wants to empty a mag.
Very cool having your mom help with this. Coincidentally my 70yr old mom was looking at getting a Spartan. I'm not going to lie, I was waiting for one of you to lose a finger. Lol.
The serrated spartan was one of my suggestions when cold steel where took over, and they asked what we wanted to see such a sick blade no idea why this was never thought of before the design just screams serrate me lol. So glad cold steel listened to it's fans and continues to deliver for us. Best wishes and much love to mamma slash hope you're well Josh and family.
This LANSKY is a nice sharpener for the Cold Steel serrations. I know that because I have used one like this for more than 12 years. However, the Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker provides excellent results to the Cold Steel serrations too!
@@Jimislash it's too bad that a lot of people veer away from serrated edges because as Sal Glesser has mentioned, and my truly extensive experience indicates, all other things being equal, a serrated edge will outcut a plain edge by a factor of 2:1. Of course like many other things in life, all serrations are not made equal: Cold Steel and Spyderco serrated edges play on a different level!
I like the Spartan, but I like the 4Max Scout more. That is why I bought mine. Nonetheless, it was nice to see you and Mama Slash having some Mother and Son time with knives! Cold Steel - Bringing families closer together by tearing things apart. Such fun!
full honesty, i like the old ones, i can see a little bit deeper belly and a less acute drop to the point. it was a lil more kukri before, now a lil more kopis
I have no issues sharpening my smooth kopis blade Spartan. Just use a rod. It's definitely faster than dealing with serrations. I knotice the serrated version is full flat ground. So the tip will be weaker, but it weighs less slightly.
watched it twice - excellent demonstration - for everything except delicate wood carving - serrated seems to be the way to go Mr slash - and the spartan is next - excellent defensive weapon
Probably the serrated blade is a better cutter because its like a piece of obsidian glass arrow head But what do you do if you don't have a Lansky Cold Steel Propatory Sharper? 🤔 I will take the staight grind. But a sheath would be nice for carrying this knife 🔪 open.
Just received the serrated Black Talon 2 the other day and wow wow wow this thing is sick I now know what you mean about the cold steel knives thanks Mom, Jimi
I love everything about the Spartan except for the weight… Drags the pants down too much to carry everyday in the pocket. Have the old one, but want to get a serrated one now, I know I love my fully serrated Talwar ❤
Great video when ever I get done watching your videos I buy another coldsteel and brisket !!! Can't go wrong for sure !!! Also great job from your mother just very Nice !!!
Jimi, the new Black handled serrated Spartan at Midway USA says, has a weight of a little over 5 oz. Is that a miss print? Cause if that's the case, that'll be my next Spartan! Anyway, food for though... GREAT VIDEO here too btw!
Mom wants a guitar finger! Better learn some Elvis quick (or whatever Mom likes the most...) I guess I have to buy another Spartan, it is just too good with the serrations. Thanks.
Actually this is a good video. For a lady to cut such a thick chunk of meat with almost no effort shows that Cold Steel D. E. L. I. V. E. R. S. ! I knew the serrations make a knife slice better but how difficult is to sharpen a serrated knife? Thanks in advance. One more thing. I would like to see a “cross” between the spartan and the AK-47. The Spartan could use a metal piece at the bank end to crack things just the AK-47 can. How do u use that sharpener?
This was the first video in a long time that I was afraid for your safety Josh.... The only thing that I've always had a question about on the Spartan is how that grip locks your hand into basically one position. It seems to limit the utility of the knife but if you're just going to slash hobos I suppose it's not a big deal ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Mom is so cool! And nice nails, too!
Love your Mom! I love how you two interact with each other.

Hi Mr Slash and Momma Slash. Thanks for sharing your moms brisket recipe. Thanks
Brother, congratulations to your mother!! She is amazing!! I wish mine had been like this...
Thank you so much. I am very lucky.
Brilliant!!!
sure its liter slash - when they cut the serrated edge - they take away metal - Hi Mom - love the moms - they are all the best
Brisket Bob is a goner if he shows up at church on serrated Sunday 🤣
Always great to see mom absolutely terrifying you with those awesome blades. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

Those serrations are like metal pirahna teeth!! 🐟🦷🦷🦷🙈
😆 🤣 Mama Slash almost Slashed you look out 😆
She got close. :)
i think the difference in weight is from the blade grind. the old one was hollow with a thick spine, while the new one is flat ground
Seeing your mom cut that brisket with that serrated Spartan convinced me to buy one now! Your videos are awesome!
Thank you! :) She's vicious.
Josh, The fear in your voice was hysterical. I'm laughing so hard, my sides are aching. That's one sharp knife and one mean (in a good way) Mom.

It doesn't lock your hand into position, unless you need it to. It's easy to move to the forward position or further back if you want to hack with it.
