1 Year Old Snowboarder

- 1 year old Zeke Snowboarding at Appalachian Ski Mountain and Copper Mountain before his 2nd Birthday(22-23months). Here are a few thoughts on young kids snowboarding(I'm not an instructor or even that good of snowboarder myself):
Your kid may or may not like it but why not give it a try? What's the worst that can happen? Kids are like rubber at that age.
It takes a lot of patients and effort from the parents.
Rent the right equipment. 80CM Burton and they make down to a size 7C boot. Put the right gear on to keep them comfortable. Even though it isn't usually associated with Snowboarding we like Obermeyer.
Older siblings are great motivation!
Do it on the kids schedule. They might last 5 minute or they might last 2hrs. Snowball fights are important!
Explaining things is about worthless. Try different things to get their focus. High 5's, candy, toys. At a young age they are most likely only going to be able to turn by pointing so use the items above to try to make that happen.

we just recently took our 3 yrs old start snowboarding , guess we weren't too early !! (I thought we were, lol) gonna go again this Wednesday for the 3rd trip :P
+Julian Shen (RX78) Keep em going! My parents taught me to ski at the age of 3 and how to snowboard at the age of 11, such a wonderful sport to know how to do since it's one you can enjoy for decades just like tennis! I mean people are skiing well into their 70's and even 80's!
That child is not a one year old.
This is awesome! I'm looking to get my 1 1/2 year old started but where did you buy all the gear I'm having a hard time finding something small enough.. any input would help ! thanks
+Katie Peretore You may be able to search burton 80CM and find one online but not sure how many Burton makes. They only started making the 7C to 10C boots last year so they are even harder to find. Your best bet may be to check at some of the rental shops and see what they have. Surprisingly there are quite a few here shops in NC that had the small boards and boots that would do season rentals with them.
