Stardust Speedway being in the bad future in Generations makes sense when you consider Eggman erased all of his previous defeats with the Time Eater, so Sonic has not created good futures yet. Same thing goes for Crisis City being here they haven't undone the events of 06 yet because of that.
@@bracken8782 That is just because the bad future is more recognizable, especially because it appeared in Generations rather than an actual in-universe reason for it.

about the sunset heights thing, Shadow DID visit Sunset Heights. After Sonic freaked out seeing the copy of Shadow despite beating him about 4 times, the real Shadow DOES appear and uses chaos control to kick himself.

Theres also the hub world, Sonic's hub is 2D therefore act 1 and Shadow's hub is 3D which is the games act 2. They made it so gameplay is parallel. So cool. Anyone noticed this? if theres more stuff like this do let me know.
53:45 I got to the damn save select for Generations and I literally said out loud, "Holy Shit! They added Save Slots!" And then became disappointed in myself for getting excited over save slots...
18:31 The bad future does not mean Sonic didn’t get the good ending as another way to gain the good ending is gaining all the time stones- which we can assume he did due to the current time not being rules by robotnik. We can also excuse that you fight metal Sonic in the bad future (which may lead to people assuming the bad future is what won) by remembering that each location takes place in the moment in time Sonic was there. This is why the ark is not destroyed in Shadows rival battle, silvers future is still messed up (even though it’s a completely different fight…I got no excuse for that one) and the death eggs is currently traveling skyward in sky sanctuary
31:40 Or, here's one. Eggman used the Time Eater to erase all of his defeats, he straight up says that's his plan. All of the events he erased are then represented by stages in White Space. That means White Space is where things that are erased from the timeline go. Crisis City was also erased from the timeline by the events of 06 itself. It's not there because those events happened, it's there because those events un-happened. That also explains Bad Future Stardust Speedway for Metal Sonic's battle, it's there BECAUSE Sonic prevented the bad future through time travel, thus erasing it from the timeline.
Sky Sanctuary being picked for this game was actually genius. It's a single act, is the most iconic part of the adventure, and has absolutely _heavenly_ music. God I wish I could play this game in full.
With Shadow's story being so good and Sonic's rewritten story being pretty rough makes me wonder if Ian had to deal with some Sega shenanigans when he redid the story for Sonic

@@MechaKnuckles The story is just kinda nothing, there's barely anything going on. There is a theme of Shadow embracing his past again, but the theme is so underused it's not that hard for it to go completely unnoticed.
20:36 Lol For me, it was morbid as a kid and I loved it! Imagine defeating your arch enemy when a strange creature, who you know at least can freeze entire dimensions, just pops up and starts kidnapping him in front of you, and then said enemy is begging you to save him and you couldn’t. It added that extra layer of “This is actually the strongest enemy I’ve ever faced…” energy and it’s amazing! I highly recommend listening to the original sonic generations dialogue, it added a sense of despair I think it goes under appreciated.
Random thing, but I love how the red rings are handled in Generations. If you’re good enough, you can collect all 5 rings in one single run in certain stages.
56:02 the reason Classic Sonic’s drop dash is a skill is because if you equipped the homing attack there would be input overlap. Making it a skill makes it impossible to have both the drop dash and the homing attack equipped at the same time

Technically Shadow did appear at Sunset Heights, at the end of the level the real Shadow shows up to defeat the illusion Shadow. I know it was a cutscene but he was still there
For the record, the animated prequel, Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings, explains how Black Doom is back. In part 2, we see a Black Arms larvae. That grew into the Black Doom we meet and fight in this game
1:24:17 In Frontiers, Sonic actually said that he wouldn’t mind letting Shadow a hand as a short dialogue while exploring. Specifically in Chaos Island.

Also way too little love for Seaside Hill Act 2 IMO, I think it is literally one of the best 3D Sonic levels! The openness of the design, the depth, the number of material alternate paths here is IMO just insane. Goated level and you really should spend the time discovering at all.
2:24 this exact concept is done in space invaders extreme and it's better executed there since there's less and shorter stages meaning you can 100% the game in about an hour
26:14 My best guess… has to be maybe for the eras those friends came from? Like Amy was in Sonic CD so that could explain why she is considered closer friends with Sonic (literally placed in game). Maybe the stages are made that way to represent a timeline of sorts.
Don't forget the CHAO as a species were introduced here alongside Chaos who is a mutated Chao from what I've heard. Seeing a character with a chao as thier best friend makes sense here, even without the small extra cameo.
1:03:32 I think the best way for them to approach Amy being in love with Sonic and her energetic fan girl persona without making her obsessive anymore Aa d Still giving her character motivations outside of Sonic is making her like a fusion of Aerith & Tifa from Final Fantasy VII: she should be spunky & flirty with Sonic, even teasing him a little bit displaying their camaraderie and proving that they see each other as equals who care for one another. She should be inspired by Sonic to wanting to be a hero in her own right but as a more emotionally open character to contrast Sonic’s stalwartly indomitable cool persona, and he can be protective & supportive of her.
I hope with the success of shadow generations the Internet will finally let go of all the blind hate towards shadow 05. Shadow 05 isn’t even a bad game, it’s a cringe game chasing a trend, but not a bad game. There’s a difference, Shadow 05 is still fun to this day if you know where all the enemies are, and the Shadow 05 Reloaded mod makes it even better.
I think Shadow 05 really fun... if you know which missions to dodge. It's possible to get all 10 endings without touching any terrible missions, but if you don't know about that and insist on going through pure hero or pure dark paths, it's going to be a nightmare of looping through the level multiple times to find that one last alien. At this point, when I know how to play this game, I have more fun on a playthrough than with SA2.
Technically Radical Highway is part of the Westopolis, and these levels use a lot of ques of that level from ShTH, so you can argue, that ShTH is represented in this game
Sonic forces was my very first sonic game. And i only watched the first trailer and second trailer for shadow generations. So i had no idea that sunset heights was in this game. The amount of child like glee i had playing shadows sunset heights for the first time not knowing it was in the game was fucking magical
I think Amy being at Chemical Plant is a nod to the fact that Sonic CD and Sonic 2 were being designed in parallel as the direct Sequel to Sonic 1. This is may also be the reason why Metal Sonic is there, as he is tied to the legacy of that development, same as Amy. For Tails, I can only hope I remember this right, it's because Sonic Technically met him before the Events of Sonic 2, but before Sonic 1. Not even in the "Before the Sequel" way, just that they did meet before and it's why Tails can fly his plane.
Man your take on Amy is so superficial. You just don't get what they were going for. The cupcakes literally express Amy's love for Sonic in the same way, but less obnoxious. And Sonic not paying attention to her offering the cupcakes (colored in their prime colors) is extremely emblematic of their relationship. And the smacking Knuckles change was not for Amy, but to make Knuckles feel less disrespected. Her overreacting to his line is why classic Sonic reacts with confusion and Sonic is embarrased, not because she smacked him into a tree. But hey at least you acknowledge all the good parts of the gameplay improvement for the remaster, like the red rings now finally having a visual indicator for collection purposes.
31:25 Removed, but not fully erased, they still remember, yet it's like a bunch of foggy images you can't quite make out as described by Elise, she still remembered Sonic, but she doesn't know him anymore. And thus the Time Eater can shatter this timeline wall and allow even these shattered fragments of the erased Timeline to come in, allowing the events of 06 to trickle in thanks to the manipulation over all of Time & Space.
The Black Arms are a hivemind, they are all one connected conscious Even just one surviving member can allow them to slowly rebuild, Dark Beginnings shows that there was a surviving member of the Black Arms on the Ark, that surviving member is likely what allowed Black Doom to come back
Nah man turning the open zone into a stage was such an obvious choice. I genuinely hoped they would do that if they ever made a 'sonic generations 2' then they did
I would also like to mention about Planet Wisp, the Music for Classic Sonic is remanicent of Bad Future Music from Sonic CD. It's very gritty, with aggressive synth, and a rocking guitar. Just saying, it had more thought put into it.
I'd argue that while Sonic's challenges may feature more variety, theyre also a lot more annoying due to how stiff Sonic's control is. Shadow's are way more addictive to go for S ranks on because of how much better he controls, and the levels have collectibles in them, which makes it fun to go back to them for more than just S ranks. Also imo, i found the Shadow challenges to feature WAY better level design.
48:54 I was in a very unique scenario. Despite being only like 7 or 8 years old playing this game on my PS3, I had experienced every single level in the game at one point or another (Except for Sky Sanctuary) it was so fun actually recognizing all the levels brought back Yes, even Crisis City, I used to have 06 and played it through the multiplayer mode
I personally find all the missions to be a step up from Generations in that I actually want to play and replay them for faster times. They could have been better on the music side. (Considering most of the Shadow soundtrack is there) Lost Impact during the mission with the Artificial Chaos, Radical Train on literally any of the Rail Canyon missions, hell even Westopolis or the Westopolis Remix that was used in Episode Shadow would have slotted in to Sunset Heights quite well. Mad Matrix or Digital Circuit (I don't actually remember which one is in the game) on Chaos Island would have been cool. Thankfully you can change the music yourself, but having those tracks be the defaults for some of the missions would have be better. I also don't mind all the Radical HIghway, I think it is very symbolic and I think they definitely don't all feel like Radical Highway. The Rail Canyon and Sunset Heights ones in particular definitely had me feeling more in Westopolis than Radical Highway but that's just me
I had partially lost my voice during a section of this video. Can you guess which part?

Like Amy was in Sonic CD so that could explain why she is considered closer friends with Sonic (literally placed in game). Maybe the stages are made that way to represent a timeline of sorts.
Each time he mentions Molly McGee Season 2, I want a Molly McGee Season 2 video more and more
bickuribox12 type intro goes hard
Shadow 05 is imo as fun as SA1 and Heroes.
Brother tip my hat to you awesome video
Name any other personality trait Amy had other than having a creepy obsession over sonic that borders on psychotic and being overly enthusiastic
Sonic forces was my very first sonic game. And i only watched the first trailer and second trailer for shadow generations. So i had no idea that sunset heights was in this game. The amount of child like glee i had playing shadows sunset heights for the first time not knowing it was in the game was fucking magical
This was a great video!
I'm curious as to what is the music that was used here in 1:20:05?
1:05:44 dude again forgot Shadow The Hedgehog On PS2
Goddamn, a one hour long review💀💀
its longer than dreams response
0:01 I felt that in my soul

The Black Arms are a hivemind, they are all one connected conscious
Even just one surviving member can allow them to slowly rebuild, Dark Beginnings shows that there was a surviving member of the Black Arms on the Ark, that surviving member is likely what allowed Black Doom to come back
Do you think that the artstyle of the Doom powers is inspired by the Symbiotes from Marvel?
1:33:01 I spit out my drink 💀💀💀
Nah man turning the open zone into a stage was such an obvious choice. I genuinely hoped they would do that if they ever made a 'sonic generations 2' then they did
31:08 I legit forgot Sonic 06 existed until now
Fun fact: after you beat shadow, you get the fourth chaos emerald
oh my gosh its lego sonic!
I would also like to mention about Planet Wisp, the Music for Classic Sonic is remanicent of Bad Future Music from Sonic CD. It's very gritty, with aggressive synth, and a rocking guitar.
Just saying, it had more thought put into it.
17:38 I understood that reference
1:03:53 this is terrifyingly decent
Nah man, bro genuinely sounds like he could do a good Roger Sonic without trying damn
@@Starpotion I’m saying
I actually frequently do a Roger impression in memes on social media lol
@@XPool oh that makes sense lol
I'd argue that while Sonic's challenges may feature more variety, theyre also a lot more annoying due to how stiff Sonic's control is.
Shadow's are way more addictive to go for S ranks on because of how much better he controls, and the levels have collectibles in them, which makes it fun to go back to them for more than just S ranks. Also imo, i found the Shadow challenges to feature WAY better level design.

I was in a very unique scenario. Despite being only like 7 or 8 years old playing this game on my PS3, I had experienced every single level in the game at one point or another (Except for Sky Sanctuary) it was so fun actually recognizing all the levels brought back
Yes, even Crisis City, I used to have 06 and played it through the multiplayer mode

The Rail Canyon and Sunset Heights ones in particular definitely had me feeling more in Westopolis than Radical Highway but that's just me
Have you played Sonic P-06?
