Honored to have made the number 1 spot on the list! It was my number 1 experience hands down as well! Really enjoy your videos and happy to have made a great friend through our collaboration!
I’m excited. Got a warbow for Christmas. 95lbs at 28. I drew it back to 32 on the first try but my scale doesn’t go over 100lbs so I don’t know what I’m actually pulling. Merry Christmas and happy new year. You’ve been a great inspiration and a good roll model.
As an old school recurve bowman (glass and maple cir. 1960s) and scratch builder of cedar arrows, I appreciate your work tremendously. Naturally, I grit my teeth and wince when I see your arrows get destroyed, I know it's for an educational purpose. Been a subscriber for quite a while and though a former fletcher with my own small arrow building business from 1990s to 2007, I know what it involves. One thing that just happened recently was adopting something from your Sir Gains character. A delivery of presents from a relative at my home in the woods. My dog and I gathered the boxes and started back to the house. I suddenly stopped and turned to my canine buddy and said loudly "Loot! We got loot!". I just blurted it out without thinking! Apparently you have more influence than you thought. Thanks for a new phrase..."LOOT". 😅👍
Dash, it is good that you show us progress of learning. I personally think it is far more motivating and satisfactory to see someone getting better, than just immediately seeing someone be good at something. It reminds us that everyone starts from the same base, and through practise, everyone can get better. I've been watching you for about 3 years on various platforms, the progress is truly, truly amazing. Here's to many more years to come!
Your collaboration with Admin brought me here, and I've been enjoying your content since. The banter between your alter egos is hilarious, and I appreciate that you're sharing your own enjoyment with us. One interesting armor combination I've seen is plate over brigandine. Examples are the plackart on the bottom of the torso with a brigandine on top, or a half plate on top and brigandine on bottom. Good luck getting through that with a compound bow! Have a happy new year, hope you and the family enjoy the vacation.
I'm relatively new to the channel, but I'm glad to see all the things you are proud of this year! I do actually have some minor suggestions that I think could help you with future content! 1. You say you want to keep getting better at your slinging skill: why not turn it into a mini-bit. Like, every video you have a random interruption of like 5 seconds where you take 5 shots with your sling (edited together) and give yourself a score out of 5, with like a game-show type aesthetic before going back to your regular content. It can serve as a useful narrative break and can give you an excuse to practice on-screen every day! 2. For budget targets, I'd actually recommend watermelon as they are cheap, large, and while they are not realistic targets per se, they do a good job in terms of spectacle when showing energy transfer or penetration. you can even ham it up by anthropomorphizing their presence on your set! Obviously these are just ideas and you can do whatever you want. I can't wait to see what you bring in 2025!
It might be cool to test weapons made in rush or projectiles vs well-made to see differrence. Like bows, arrows, stone instead of lead shots, farming tools instead of pool arms, etc.
I'm glad I found your channel, I've seen some of your videos in recommendation before, but I thought it was some clickbait fake historical stuff, there are lots of those. No advice here as I don't think there was anything wrong with the thumbnails or titles, I just don't trust youtube to deliver good recommendations, this video also has a few that looks to be AI generated. What made me take a look was when I saw your comment on Todd's channel, I didn't think someone not actually interested in history would do that. The Metatron also gave a shout out to you channel after that so I'm guessing there is some correlation here, I do hope your channel grows. I don't think there are many youtuber who do weapon and armor testing and much less who mix eras, and I do find that interesting, it doesn't necessarily have to be about testing historical theories. Also like the characters you made. I hope you enjoy your vacation!
I found your channel this year and I have no regrets - I really enjoy the content and in particular I love the alter ego banter that has been developing!
Two stories ill share. One was when i was shooting my longbow in a line with other guys at the local range when the guy standing next to me compound bow wire string blew. It was so loud that i ducked for cover and string cut right across the left side of his face Speaking of wearing armour in extreme heat. I used to joust and had a full suit of plate which I was wearing during a procession at the ren faire in Houston TX. It was 99 deg and 70 percent humidity. My friend said Dude are you alright? Apparently I was red faced and when i took my helm off they rushed me to shade and pulled my armour off because I had stopped sweating! And you know what? Wearing a full suit of maile from head to toe, with the gambeson, coif and nasal helm during the summer here in Oklahoma felt far worse! lol
Hey bud, love your videos! Your channel kinda reminds me of an ancient weapons Garand Thumb. Its not as action packed I know, but I'd love to see you do a build along of a Balearic sling. Maybe a live like when you were making arrows? Just an idea.
@@dashrendar5320 He’s a bigger dude and he’s gonna hate me when I show him the new pocket knife I just got. Unless you already know what it is, look up the Kizer mini Militaw.
This is a great entertaining channel! Thank you for the sneak peak behind the scenes. I really like the characters like SirGains. I joke around like this with my friends. Since you like wood weapons maybe add a character that is fanatical about the quarterstaff. Thinks its the overall best weapon and he's called something like PoleDancer74 or StaffMaster76 :)
The Best of the Best is Great! Most of my LP's and CD's are BOTB albums, so this is no different. On a side note, wearing full plate armor historically, was for mounted knights. The Sallet helmet was primarily for jousting, because of the vision and breathing needs of the foot soldiers. All in all, this is a great video. Skal!
I got a sling from hilltop hurler for Christmas, and it’s awesome!! The biggest difference compared to the little one I made, is that I can sling much bigger rocks much more powerful.
It's been another awesome year dash I tell everyone about you. It's cool feels like we're friends. You're awesome 🙂 I hope you and you're family had an amazing Christmas. Enjoy you're holiday
by the by, I remember you stating how the kit of a Legionary doesn't exactly fit so well for the cold weather; perhaps trying to make a historically accurate kit of a 5th century comitatenses would solve this predicament?
Viking axes... French axes, British axes, Roman axes, African axeds, native American axes... I mean the whole continent not just USA, and compare them. Please and thank you

110 libbre a 32
Fantastic my friend. I am so thrilled to hear that. Thank you for the kind words and congratulations.
Nice! I would like to get a warbow myself. Hope you have alot of fun with it.
It’s amazing how much your channel has grown this year Dash. What an excellent time.

@mrSaber79: And by using watermelons, if they're not hybrids, he could end up with a new crop by the end of summer! Skal
Awesome recap! Have an awesome vacation! Keep your head on a swivel!
Thank you my friend! Will do
That POV pilum throw is awesome.
Haha yeah that turned out cool
Looking forward to 2025. You make me laugh, and I learn a few things. Doesn't get much better than that.
That’s all I can hope to achieve so I am happy I can do both 😁
see ya next year have fun
Thank you most kindly my friend
This video is just a massive edit of awesomeness. Also, I love how you shoot your play button, that is great.

When are we getting another greatsword video?
for 2025, the FX Pocket Chronograph v2 would be the best to get for more scientific experiments and concrete numbers. That what Jorge Sprave uses

You should do a video on ancient germanic weapons ( other than viking)
