    Hi! Loving your content ❤
The main thing I’ve found with suede is that you NEED to spray it before you ever wear them in order to be able to clean them. The spray is like a protective layer that helps prevent those deep-set stains you can’t get out. I used to manager a shoe store - before that I always thought shoe care was BS but I swear it does make a difference.
That said, even with lots of spray and care my lighter coloured Uggs do get stained eventually. I find the little square block with the nubby edges to be the best to get out staining but it isn’t perfect. Make sure you also spray after you clean!!

If you buy another pair of suede shoes you can waterproof/scotchgard them and it will head off the dirt because you can just wipe it off like a pair of canvas or leather-ish shoes. Or at least that’s what I did.

I love this concept so much! I feel like this really helps to challenge consumerism when it comes to following trends and having brand named things.
Also- I know your goal is to consume less this year in the context of clothing and shoes, however, I highly recommend the Gilly Hicks leisure brand associated with Hollister. I would be so interested to see you do either a in the fitting room or Try onhaul! I have my fair share of trauma from middle school with Hollister and just recently discovered their athleisure brand (it’s giving the same vibe as aerie). The clothing is so comfortable and soft and I feel like would be great basics to have!

I got the Ugg cleaning kit for Christmas and cleaned my Uggs for the first time after almost 2yr of wear! They look almost brand new now… you should try cleaning yours again, but more aggressive. Also fill your shoes with a shirt or something to get those creases out so the clean will be more effective!

I love my UGGs! The lighter UGGs are harder to keep nice. I have a light pair that is too far gone and those are the ones I wear for comfort and not looks when I want to avoid ruining the nice ones I have.
My darker brown/chestnut color ones clean really well. I watched a lot of videos to learn how to clean them and think I do a good job and the products work for me.
I usually use the bigger brush all over first and that removes a lot of dirt. And you use the other brush to scrub a little bit over the stains once the cleaner is applied to remove tougher stains. You can also use the cleaner again after they have dried if they are still dirty in spots. And the last step is that protection spray that helps to protect against the dirt and stains. A tip I learned is to also stuff the shoe with something to help hold it's shape and avoid wrinkles. I think that makes the difference as well.
For the inside I use the big brush to get out dirt and fuzzies then put the cleaner/deodorizer in with a sponge. I brush it all through and blot any extra moisture with a paper towel to get any dirtiness out then spray the deodorizer and let it dry. Brush it out and it feels much cleaner and smells good.
    It's a labor of love!
Dry cleaners around me in NY also clean the inside and outside of UGGs so you could also try that if it is offered by you. They also sell replacement insoles so I bought a pair of those for slippers that I had worn some of the fur out of after owning them for 3+ years. Good as new on the inside!

I got my first pair of Uggs in about 2007. They're the gray sweater ones with the buttons that you can wear folded down or all the way up. I wore them religiously for a year or two after getting them. And I can still wear them today. They've lasted me this long. So if you like whatever style Ugg fits your life, I saw go for it because mine are still going strong 18 years later. I recently bought a new pair in a different style, and I've been reading the comments about the best way to keep them looking nice. I don't wear them in bad weather, or even if there might be puddles outside, so I'm sure that's helping to keep them looking good. If you can, try to update us in a vlog in a few months about how your shoes are doing. Also your turtleneck and hair at the end are super cute! 😉

This won’t clean the inside of your Uggs, but to fluff them up, grab a steel tooth brush (like a steel wool scrubber, but with teeth) and go to town on the interiors. This is what I do to fluff mine up and it works great.

  • @erindixon2877
    @erindixon2877 День назад

For the dark spots, get the area damp. Mix a little Dawn dish soap in warm water. Dip a tooth brush in the Dawn solution and apply it to the darkened suede. Repeat as necessary until the spot lightens up. Wipe off with wet rag. You may need to get the whole shoe wet so it doesn’t leave a water mark as it dries. For the interior, use a mild soap designed for wool. Get the inside wet, scrub in the soap, let it sit for 20-30 minutes and rise with warm water. Let them dry.

UGG's were popular in 1992 way before the 2000's I've had the UGGs and the Bear Paw and the Cleaning kit is a must have from Day One. It kept my boots super clean and the inside spray kept the sheepskin nice and fresh and soft. Granted I live in Southern California and I wear socks with my boots. So keep that in mind. Thank you Rachel for doing a video. Durability is definitely the difference between the UGG vs Bear Paw my Bear Paws lasted 2-3 years where my UGGS lasted 5.

Hey! You gotta spray the Uggs as soon as you get them with the protection spray. They don't get as dirty as fast & clean up nicer. I reapply the protection spray a few times a year too & have a pair of boots that are still in pretty decent shape, esp for how much i wear them after 7-8 years. Maybe 4 years ago, I asked for black Tasmins, and the hubs got me a pair from a local (love that he tried) alpaca/sheep vendor. They were similar enough that I didn't return them. But holy hell, they stretched out SO badly after 2 years that they would literally fly off my feet while wearing them with my irish dance soft shoes on, too. Like, it was dangerous to keep wearing them. I got myself actual Tasmins 3 years ago, and they still fit like a glove! and besides the insides being pretty smashed down, are in pretty decent shape (& I share them with a teenager!) just treated her & I both to new Tasmins, mine are green 💚!! TL;DR: invest in the name brand, take care of them, and they will last a long freaking time, making them worth the money!!

I've never owned name brand UGGS in my life lol. Back in the 2007-2014 I just got the Wal-Mart dupes. They used to be under $20 and amazing quality, can't speak to how they are today cause just in general clothing construction is not what it used to be. But those babies got me through EVERYTHING. Snow, rain, dirt, beaches lol. A pair would last me about 2+ years. I don't wear boots now cause my body is horrid at regulating my temp (yay 30s) I'll for sure sweat and/or pass-out lol.
I'm also so paranoid about buying anything on Amazon these days lol. Like for clothing a good chunk of Amazon ish is just Shein/Temu/Drop ship crap and there's just a lot of resellers. If you image search you're surely to find somewhere selling the exact same thing for cheaper. Other product categories are also just being resold (& price gouged) or completely knocked off. Unless it's an ABSOLUTE need, I just avoid Amazon all together now and buy directly with the brand I want or go thrifting.

One thing you can do with a real suede shoe is when they are too discolored stain them in a darker color with leather stain 💡
To clean the inside of real wool can be done with a special wool cleaner.
I bought mine at the tack store as I also use it on my saddle pads 😅
Just make sure not to get them soaked and then dry them hot as real leather skin will shrink!

As someone who has been a life long Bearpaw wearer you are much better off getting a pair of those than either of these. The designs are so similar and they are still real suede and sheep skin like the uggs. Admittedly you do need to keep up with cleaning and sealing them from the time you get them but if you do that they will last years with hard wear. Sorry Racheal but you could have cleaned yours a lot better with that kit lol try really warm water and the cleaner, you won’t ruin the sheep skin. Because it’s a natural material it’s extremely hardy. You could probably even put them in the washer, in a washer bag, and they’d be ok! Hope this helps someone!

In 2nd-3rd grade (1979-80/81), I was REALLY hard on shoes ... like needing a new pair every 2 weeks. My parents thought maybe it was because I was getting cheapish ($5) shoes (there were 4 of us kids so ...). After contacting a boot/shoe store 35 miles away that MADE their own shoes and boots in addition to stocking other brands, my mom took me there because the shoes came with a guarantee. The owner guaranteed, IN WRITING, that the shoes would last AT LEAST 3x as long as the shoes I had been wearing or he would replace them for free. They were 6x the price ($30) of the shoes I had been wearing ... but they had blue suede uppers (treated to be waterproof and stain resistant). The first pair lasted exactly 5 weeks, so we made the drive again to get a new pair. That pair lasted 5 weeks and 3 days ... The third pair lasted 5 weeks and 6 days. The last pair last 6 weeks and 1 day. That was 22 weeks and 3 days (5 months and 4 days). I would have gone through 11 pairs of shoes in that time and been on a 12th pair. We decided that instead of getting the expensive shoes again, we would go to even cheaper ($2, unless on sale) shoes. They still lasts 2 weeks. Toward the end of 3rd grade, we moved and I went barefoot a lot more unless we were going to school, shopping, playing basketball in the neighbor's driveway, playing baseball or football, mowing the lawn, or visiting family. That summer, I would even walk to the park barefoot when I went to the swimming pool. I was on a baseball team, so I did wear shoes for practices and games. Around town, I wouldn't even wear shoes to go to the hardware/candy store, post office, local diner, pizza shop, or bank. My shoes lasted 3-4 weeks that summer.
