As someone who taught archery at a boy scout summer camp, them dry firing that bow made me ready to break a person in half... the arrows, ehh not to bad, dry firing a beautiful bow, unforgivable... except it is the modern rogue
as a recreational (and probably only at best an amature archer), I am right there with you. Cringed when he was trying to cut into an arrow, and was convinced that arrow was going to snap when I saw it flex.
@@keetonmitchell4669 As I mentioned previously, taught Archery at a BSA summer camp for a few years and the badge goes over some of these sorts of things. So if you watch any slow motion video of someone shooting an arrow, they actually all flex like that, although you don't see it as often, or as extreme, unless you have some serious poundage in the bow you are shooting. The flexing actually helps keep the arrow stable while it is flying because the force from the string isn't always right down the spine of the arrow, so if they didn't flex like that they would just hook to one side or the other after being shot. Again though, the amount of flex that arrow had from the weight was a bit excessive to cause the flexing to last as long as it did.
@@Nicse4s I'm aware that arrows flex, and the purpose it serves (not meant to be a confrontational comeback, just want to be clear I'm not a complete novice). While I'm limited in how much practice I can get, the physics of archery (among other similar things) has always been really intriguing to me. Seen some great videos about the archers paradox and different draw/release methods. It was mainly how much these particular arrows were flexing that caused me concern. Under normal circumstances I would have expected maybe only 60% of the flex we were seeing in those arrows.

Hey Brian, that first shot was actually a really good shot. I've got that same bow too, it's pretty sweet. Lemme say this though: if you ever do another archery video, just put your 3 long fingers right below the arrow, and it's way better shooting. Otherwise the string pinches your top finger and that kinda messes the shot up. That's the only thing that's holding your power back, I know you're an archery God at heart.
@@RoraighPrice I don't use em myself, I think the pain of a wrist slap should teach you not to shoot that way. If you're hitting your arm, it's bad form. But to each his own, Brian would probably want one.
I can vouch for this method. I couldn't hit anything when i was putting 1 finger above the arrow. Once I switched to having all fingers below the arrow, I started hitting the target like 90% of the time.

Just a little tip for archery. Draw the bow all the way back so that the fingers that you're drawing with are next to your cheek. Make sure if you do this you don't have the string touching your cheek and have something covering the inside of the arm you're holding the bow with unless you want a nasty bruise.
