higgins' joke about "i apologize for my dad" is my favorite joke from this show. the mood was so off in the room and he decides to bomb that joke in, was genius to me 😂
One small thing that I love about this episode is that it shows us why Roy made Isaac captain in the first place; it’s because he wears his emotions on his sleeve and doesn’t bottle things up inside. He’s not afraid to show his emotions, which as we’ve seen in this episode is something that Roy values very highly. “Never stop breaking TVs.”
Jade just staring Rupert down as he tries to be charming was great! Anthony Head is so wonderful and charming, and he is SO awful as Rupert! Excellent acting!
Missed in this edit, but the commentarors and at the press conference highlighted how Colin had been a changed player in the second half. Very important as the show tells us the wieght being lifted transformed his game. earlier in the seasons he'd been portrayed as timid and workmanlike, whereas now he created and scored goals.
It’s a nice call back to season 2 when Nate says he doesn’t inspire anyone like Danny or Jamie, and in this episode the commentator says he gave an inspirational performance.
The song at the beginning and end and the episode's title are from the musical La Cage Aux Folles, about gay men and drag performers coming out and fighting for acceptance. That song is sung by a gay man refusing to hide who he is. It's spot-on weaving in on a show I would never think would reference that.
@@mirkecWii 10.73 % the stat they bandy around in show that statistically one in ten of them would be gay is on the high side, 2.8% of UK is gay or bisexual
fun fact 2: the name of the _city_ actually _is_ "Brighton and Hove" (as per the name of the team). The _town_ of Brighton is a subsection of said city, as is the town of Hove (but sure, in common usage people often just say "Brighton" for both). (dunno where OP is from but in the UK, unlike e.g. the US, "city" means something specific and doesn't apply to just any settlement - a Royal Charter and usually, though not always, a cathedral are required. In this case city status was granted as part of a shake-up of local government around the turn of the century so "Brighton and Hove" has only been a _city_ for about 20 years, even though Brighton's been a _town_ since 1313 and a settlement of some kind since before the Romans)
Coming into the final stretch. Roy was great and the Colin tells the team about himself. Beautiful moments all round. Nathan realizing where he wants to be. I couldn't help but notice Keeley during Roy's speech and how emotional she was. Again, Roy being vulnerable is getting to her... There's hope after all, especially after Rebecca's dressing down.
One of the small details that makes this show so good is that the fan who harassed Isaac was wearing an old Dubai Air Richmond kit, showing that he never actually supported the new direction of the team standing up for what’s right.
One of the best episodes of the show. Roys best scene by far. Absolutely love how Issac was the central character affected by Colin’s news and handled it so beautifully. And humanly. I have to think his reaction is how most people would react and wonder what about themselves would make it hard for ppl to share that sort of news. Yes it may change things but ppl can adapt to things better than we give them credit for
Speaking of Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca) being so fine... the reason I started watching Ted Lasso was because she's in Hocus Pocus 2. Only 1 scene but when I saw her I looked her up and saw everyone talking about how great she was on TL. It was already on my watchlist but seeing her sent it straight to the top. Since then I have seen the show 3 times (I suppose watching with BW makes it a 4th time) and I have gotten a lot of other people to watch it.
My read on Rupert is that he doesn’t like anyone to be happy. He sabotages everyone around him. And if he breaks them up he’d probably have tried to date her just to twist the knife.
Most premier league teams have squads of 25 senior players. On a match day, you start with 11 and have (as of a covid years rule change) 9 players on the bench, any 5 of which you can bring on during the match. If a player receives a red card or 2 yellow cards however they're sent off and can't be replaced.
16:50 I was looking for where the blood is gonna come from and from their movements I thought maybe Calvin's ear or Aaron's finger and then bam out of nowhere...
I think Rupert was sabotaging Nate so that he could break them up and get with Jade himself. On another note, Jaimie and Sam’s interaction was hilarious and one of my fave parts. Also, Jaimie’s ‘I’m flattered’ when the team thinks he’s gay shows awesome character growth.
I don’t think he’s looking to steal Jade. I think that in order to see Nate as his coach, he needs to gaslight him and bring him down to his level. He needs assurances that Nate can function the same way that Rupert does.
Interesting thought on Rupert but he’s so scummy I think if that was his aim to get with Jade he wouldn’t even bother to try to break them up he’d just go after her while she’s still with Nate
One of the things I love about this is Isaac finally talking to Colin. Though I find Isaac being a jerk to him quite annoying. That end scene with them reminds me one of my fave scenes in SKAM Italia which involves coming out to a straight bestie ❤. Another one I love is Roy’s nocknames for the press. Fave is Goblin King who is the blond lady with the Jareth hairdo 😂
Rupert was trying to bring Nate over to the dark side. Rupert's very good at manipulating people and him saying he was disappointed was the next step in the manipulation.
This is the best depiction of this topic in any show/movie imo. You can really feel the emotion behind Colin and Isaac's characters, and the ending is incredibly wholesome.
When a team gets a player sent off with a red card, even if they have available players on the bench they can only play with 10 for the remaining of the game. It usually carries a 2 game suspension (or more depending of the gravity of the aggression) but that would be just for the player, the team can play with 11 players next game
So I don't watch a lot of football but I do know that there are substitutions and that there is a limited amount (though I don't remember if it's still 3 or if that's changed by know). However, if a player is sent off the pitch due to a red card, then the team cannot sub in someone to replace that player.
It was changed to 5 substitutions, in a maximum of 3 different intervals during the pandemic, and the rule change has remained. So, if you made 3 substitutions, but made each one individually, then you wouldn't be allowed to use your remaining 2 substitutions. In some cup competitions you get an extra substitute plus an extra opportunity to make substitutions, if the game goes into extra time.
Eric's right, that source for the rules was ambiguously worded. As others have mentioned though, a red card means you're off and the team can't substitute anyone in your place (they're a player down for the rest of the match). 2 yellow cards (in the same game) = 1 red. If you get a red card directly (i.e. not as 2 yellows) then you're usually also banned for _at least_ the following match. (fun fact: managers, coaches etc. can _also_ be given red cards, meaning they're banned from the touchline - basically can't be anywhere near the pitch - but _usually_ they have to behave pretty badly for that to happen. Couple of years back in a Chelsea v Tottenham game _both_ managers got red cards _after_ the match had ended because when they went in for the usual post-match handshake they instead squared up, jostled a bit and looked about to fight before being separated)
- 11 players start on the pitch. 1 Keeper, 10 outfield - Each team has 9 "bench" players available to be subbed on. - Of those 9 bench players, 5 players can be subbed on during the match. Not back and forth. 1 player comes off permanently and is replaced with a bench player up to five times. - If you've used all 5 subs and someone gets injured they either stay on the field or the team plays a man down. - If you've used all your subs and the keeper gets injured or a red card, one of the outfield players will pull on a goalkeeping shirt a pair of gloves and becomes the goalie. - A red card means that the player leaves the field and the team is 1 man down 10v11. If another red card is issued the same thing happens 9v11.
I think Rupert didn't find Jade 'good enough' for someone in his circle and wanted to get Nate with someone he thought was better. I also like the symbolism of him taking the baklava without asking - he feels entitled to take what he wants when he wants.
I think Rupert wanted Nate to do something that would eventually cause a break up. Because men like Rupert really do not want others to be happy. Rupert just wanted Nate to be one of the guys but he did the right thing. And maybe a split would give Rupert a shot at Nate's girl.
I don’t know what Nate expected; he knew beforehand what type of man Rupert is and yet he still went to work for him because he praised him. 😶 Also 17:15 😂
Loving someone, feeling bad for someone, or supporting someone only for their sexual orientation, is foolish. If you didn't support them (because of their character) before you knew, then they don't deserve your support after you found out. If you supported them before (because of their character), then who they sleep with should be of no consequence and should not impact any positive or negative support. This chronic need to support people because of something unrelated to their character, is a poor way for society to run!
The opening and closing music, like the episode title, come from the stage musical "La Cage aux Folles" (itself derived from a French movie, which was latter adapted as the American film The Birdcage). The musical is about gay men at first trying to hide their identity, and in the end choosing not to.
In football if a player gets a red card then you play one man down (in this case 10 players on the pitch) subs can only come on for one of the players on the pitch NOT the red carded player. In tournaments/leagues red cards can also lead to a 3-match suspension but I think that depends on the severity👀
@@tendibee Yes, it was Zidane's last game for France, but it wasn't due to the severity of the sanction (if it's what you're implying here). Zidane had announced before that he would retire from the National Team after the World Cup and that it would be his last game for France no matter what.
An ad Aaron was in for the local hospital system. It’s on RUclips, so I’m sure someone will link it here. They talked about it on their podcast a couple of times.
I wish this is how it worked in the real world. The problem with soccer is that it's a truly mondial sport. More so in the locker room than in the stands. It's already not easy to come out in Western culture, but it can become really problematic with more conservative cultures. I worked for a Belgian team, and it was basically a don't ask, don't tell policy. We had a player who was dating the brother of a teammate, but half the team didn't know. Also a lot of the major teams have deals with the oil money, so if you're publicly out, it could be a problem to progress your career. About red cards: You play 11v11, with usually 7 bench players. If you get a red card it's 10v11. If a team gets 5 red cards, the game ends as you're required to have 7 players on the pitch.
I absolutely love Isaac in this episode. Not saying he was justified in how he treats Colin because he absolutely wasn't, but the reason as to why he was so upset was so touching and thought out. Not just "You didn't tell me" but "Theres something wrong with me and you didn't tell me what and didn't give me the chance to be good enough." Absolutely Colin was not obligated to tell Isaac, but Isaac's fear that maybe they weren't as close as they thought they were is such a cool and nuanced thing to explore.
Additionally, when Roy says "You're going to F up the thing you actually do care about." THE THING ISAAC CARES ABOUT IS THEIR FRIENDSHIP this show ruins me time and time again.
If the player that gets the red card is at the moment part of the playing 11, the team gets reduced to 10 field players. You can get a red from the bench, if you really misbehave, but that is very rare. So the win with one man down is even more impressive.
just to clarify, if a player gets in red card, that player cannot be on the field for the rest of that game, and they are also banned from playing in the next game. Also, for the rest of the current game your team now has one less player on the field. Every time a player is sent off you cannot replace them
When a player gets sent off, the 11-man starting team has to play with 10 for the rest of the game. But the manager is free do whatever he wants with his 10 players after that. Normally they'll substitue an attacking player for a defensive player to protect what they've got with their reduced number. If a goalkeeper gets sent off, the manager will substitute an outfield player to bring on the substitute goalkeeper. Sometimes, there might not be a substitute goalkeeper, so an outfield player has to go in goal, and put on the goalkeeper jersey and gloves. This doesn't always go as badly as it sounds like it should lol
YEah, among the outfield players there's usually one who will have played goalie in school or will do some keeping drilss during the season incase something like that happens
Man. The way they speculated why Isaac acted the way he did towards Colin was so much more intellect and more mature than how Brown Pat from the Normies did. Saying that Isaac was mad because Colin didn't want to fxxk him but chose to fxxk another guy instead is the reason why I'll never watch any reactions with Brown Pat in it ever again. That's one of the reasons why I will always prefer Blindwave more than the Normies when it comes to reactions and post discussions. No offense to the other Normies crew. I still watch their reactions just not the ones that Brown Pat's in it. Sadly he's in almost all of their reactions now so I hardly ever watch anything from their channel much lately.
Red card: reduces the number of players on the field. So you play the rest of the game with 10 against 11. (2 red cards, 9 vs 11) Also, normal substitution off, you cannot return to the field (not an interchange bench that basketball has)
I think from here till the finale is all really phenomenal episodes. Ive heard some people say that season 3 is the worst one but man I think the show really ends at it’s peak! Great reaction tho
Why are you like this. Like, not giving a reason for why Aaron made you feel like disliking. It just seems to negative, if no reason, why comment- is it in the hopes of making Aaron feel bad?

Next episode is Ranny Dojas!!!
Red card: reduces the number of players on the field. So you play the rest of the game with 10 against 11. (2 red cards, 9 vs 11)
Also, normal substitution off, you cannot return to the field (not an interchange bench that basketball has)
Roy Kent is easily the best thing about Ted lasso
woah what was that ad that Aaron was in?
15:41 “like guys do?” Let’s raise our standards
The character development in this show rivals that of a K-Drama.
Rupert has been trying to isolate Nate from his friends and real support this whole time. That's what he does. Classic abuser tactics.
I think from here till the finale is all really phenomenal episodes. Ive heard some people say that season 3 is the worst one but man I think the show really ends at it’s peak! Great reaction tho
I do think season 3 is "the worst one" simply because 1 and 2 were so excellent 😆. I don't dislike season 3 at all, though.
@@theadamabramsagreed, still love it, the final few episodes hit so fucking hard
From Amsterdam onwards s3 is all gravy all the way
S3 felt rushed in the last half but I don’t feel any of these seasons are “the worst”. I’m more pissed this show was only three seasons long.
Red card means you play with 1 less player
Red card reduces that team to 10 players on the pitch for the rest of the game 👍They can still make subs but will only have 10 on the pitch.
Red card means that player leaves and you don't get to substitute them.
👍🏾
Watch Animal movie 🔥🔥 must watch
Nose bleed!
I think the crew could react to some football (soccer) rules videos to better understant the show since they are so out of touch with the sport.
Same.
Too much coke boyo!
Colin is the one who said stuff in the past, not Isaac. Colin did it as disguise.
There's a lot that's happened off camera in the show.
gotta give a thumbs down for having to listen to Aaron
Why are you like this. Like, not giving a reason for why Aaron made you feel like disliking. It just seems to negative, if no reason, why comment- is it in the hopes of making Aaron feel bad?
