- Taking your planner to the next level can be daunting, so I have created a series to help newer Happy Planners find your planner peace. In this 2nd video of the Beyond the Basics series, we will learn how to use the rule of thirds to create 10 horizontal layout designs that will help you create consistently pleasing spreads, no matter your style of planning!

You just made graphic design accessible to the average person. I didn't know you were a graphic designer when I first saw these videos; I just knew they were very well executed. THIS is the tutorial that I needed to sell me on the Horizontal layout!! I've avoided any planners with this layout because I automatically wrote it off that "it's just not me" & the way that I plan. And by a avoiding those, I lost out on some wonderful covers & dividers. I do love the Dashboard layout in my Mini but not so much for my Classic. But now I'm sold to try these layouts out!! Vertical layouts in Classic is too much whitespace for me because I'm more minimal in my decor with "just enough" design. The only exceptions are the Health/Wellness planners because they do separate the functions within each box. Your options for multiple functional components now have me excited to switch out some of the Dashboard layouts in my current Classic catch-all with the Horizontal!
Very helpful! Loved it! I never thought of dividing my spreads like that. I simply decor and write in them without much thought. I try to find balance, but never thought in these possibilities. So, thank you!

This is one of the most helpful planner videos I’ve ever seen. I’ve always preferred horizontal over vertical and have been improving in my decorating skills, but it’s hard to find online inspiration for horizontal layouts since everyone uses vertical. I start a new planner in July and I can’t wait to use these different layout ideas! Thanks so much!

I just got my first Happy Planner and its horizontal. I have been trying for almost a year now to try and decorate a planner. I started with bujo, tns and now I found Happy Planner. And this is the only video that actually gave me an idea on how I can use it and decorate it easily. Even if I am not talented at all.. :) thank you.

Wow I had no idea about layouts, focus, checklists or any of it and this is my first time knowing is a thing to do...I’ve seen other videos and I’m stuck on urs. I’ve written down, snapped pictures for reference and I’m ready. I even purchased the planners u worked with and I’m happy. I got sticker books and I’m mostly into the Faith planning. So helpful! It is rare to see videos on horizontal planning. I use a mini horizontal so I do not have much room for decorating, but I may be able to incorporate some of your suggestions on a smaller scale.

Thanks again. I have watched this about 2 years ago, but I felt my self back in a rut. I loved this refresh review and now I am excited to plan horizontally again. My on,y worry now is that there seem to be less and less horizontal planners to choose from.
I noticed that too! Everything is vertical these days. So glad I created my own printables so I’d always have a horizontal option. 😁👍
Thank you for making this video! I've always had a vertical planner, but I'm just not convinced it's what would work best for me. Then I go and look at the horizontal and think wtf would I do with all that space and the lines?! Your video showed me that I can almost have a bullet journal and make each week or month truly unique for layouts. I can't draw, but I love the idea of bullet journaling and doodles with my plans. I think your layouts offer me a nice balance to try something new but still get my planning done. Thank you!

I'm new to horizontal planning. It starts in July & I'd say I would've been a basic functional planner. I was trying to map out ideas in my head bc doing the same layout would probably cause me not to stick w/it too long. It's like you were reading my mind!
