At the time, yes, especially is we were not mid teens. But now, oh my gosh. So much to dance to and just brings back good memories even during a chaotic home life.
Donna Summer still gives me the chills when I listen to her sing. Never ever did she phone it in, hold back... always gave it her all. And as long as we still listen to her voice she lives on in all of us.
Donna Summer, Queen of Disco. One of the most beautiful women in the seventies.Still has 6 albums of her from back in the days. This brings back my teenage years. Did you know that Bruce Springsteen wrote a song{ protection} for her.
_"Makes a brother feel good."_ It's a wonderful space you created where all good people feel at home. It's some real love up in here Jamel, and you have so much reason to feel good and celebrate. You could be broke as hell, but you would still be what I call a real success. This is something you will take with you and if there is a Pearly Gates, Saint Peter will be smiling when you get there. Thank you. ^-^ Much love to all good humans all across the world. You enrich my life and the lives of those you touch. Keep being you. ^-^
What a wonderful compliment my friend, you are so right Jamal is a super kind, loving soul 🤗🤗🤗, and you my friend are also a great, kind, and special person for giving those like Jamal the recognition that he so deserves 🙂🙂🙂. I hope your having a great day as well. I love this great music, the great atmosphere Jamal has created, and most importantly the awesome 😎 and cool people like yourself that can see and feel the love Jamal gives to all of us each and every day.. peace ☮️ out!! 💕💕💕
Donna Summer is one of the best singers in music history! Unique and powerful voice. No one like her. Gone too soon. Thank you for another reaction! I agree with other commentor about her duet with Barbra Streisand 'No More Tears (Enough is Enough)'. Another great song.
Real Singers with such immense talent who can perform live like their recordings is and has been a very dying breed. Nothing but them and a microphone with their Vocals and no Auto Tuner. The Music Industry is now Crap for the most part. Relies now on digital download hits and no actual lyrics or musicality vs. actual Artistry and Talent. Sad but true. Performers like Donna are still out there but rare indeed. The day of the singer/songwriter is dead with the exception of few and far between. We lost her too soon per Cancer. There is a reason she's labelled QUEEN of DISCO. Her voice was untouchable with the hits she created.
This is still my number 1 song of all time. Saw this heavenly beauty in person in 1978. She radiated pure love and joy. Her young daughter stole the show : ) Just lovely. Her album Once Upon A Time is still my favorite. It is whimsical, magical and ethereal. And who could ever forget I Feel Love?! Oh so sensual for the times : ) Such a beautiful soul...
I never get tired of hearing this song From the beautiful lady Donna Summers was definitely one of a kind She always brings a smile to my face Gone too soon
You took me back to such a great time! My grandma got me some platform shoes! I may have been too young to go disco dancing but that didn't stop me from listening to Donna in my bedroom and letting it all go. Thank you Jamel for this treasure from the late great DS!!!👡🎛🎶🎧
Now this lady can sang! Check out the movie "Thank God it's Friday" where this song is highlighted at the end! Note: this movie also has actor Jeff Goldblum and the band The Commodores in it also. Donna Summers daughter also sings and has music out with her husband, it's definitely worth a listening also.
Donna Summer was the Queen of Disco. She was sexy and had an AMAZING voice. She is one of my all time favorite singers. The best album is Donna Summer "On the Radio" greatest hits, which is a double LP -- one great dance song after another. Check out her singing "MacArthur Park" live from 1978!
Younguns, that’s not singing - That’s SANGING!!! Beyoncé has nothing on her. Donna will always be the unsung Original Diva! So unfortunate she was typecast in Disco because she was so much more than that.
Well hello! I’ve watched a couple of your videos, but this is the one that made me like & subscribe. Anyone who understands the importance of finding this specific performance & truly feels the music is clearly necessary in my life. 🧡
Donna Summer was just the greatest. She holds the record for longest held vocal note in a U.S. hit single for a female artist. The song is Dim All the Lights.
🙄 yeaaah because a plug in surely defines someone’s vocal talent, boy I would hate if I had a great catalog but a plug in ruins it for people lol must be insane?
Good gracious what an amazing singer!! I so loved Donna Summer's music growing up and here approaching 60 i can still feel the magic of this music and her amazing talent. Her, Gladys Knight, and Teena Marie are three of my all time favorite female vocalists.... There are so many great ones but those three have always stood out to me for different reasons. Thanks for spreading so much love and positivity with your channel dear brutha! The world can often feel toxic but there is always love and there is always music! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love this song. I think was 8 or 9 when my adoptive mother played this song. I had never heard this song before. Quite a few people were shocked that my adoptive mom knew this song since she was white.
Such a strong voice. Much more than a simple disco singer. This early live performance was a first inkling of what she could really do. Great songwriter too.
As a person born in the early 50's hating disco was pretty much a requirement!! But some songs and singers were just too great to ignore. Donna Summers was the Queen of Disco!! My favorite song she performed was " On the Radio", it was not just a song, it was a love story!!!
Donna Summer had the best songs of the disco era, hands down. State of Independence is one of my favorite songs of all time. What a beautiful person, too!
In my dreams, that's how I think I sound 😁 Donna Summer had one of the most beautiful voices ever and "Last Dance" is the most beautiful disco song in existence!
Thank you Jamel for this! I am 52 sadly, lol, but when I was a little girl Donna Summer was my hero! She was the shiznit to me! The only reason I watched Thank God It's Friday was because my Lady Donna was in it! She is the Queen of Disco.

Woohoo 🙌🏻🥳!!! Down the fantastic rabbit hole that is the queen of Disco….Donna Summer!!! Oh Jamel, you have no idea how great it was to wake up and see this video!!! I was born in 1978 and whenever I saw Donna Summer on TV doing a performance, I’d point at the 📺 and say “Mom!” Lol! My mom had that same haircut at the time. I’ve gotten my mom onto your channel and she’s hooked. So much so, she’s already bought herself one of your shirts!!! I will continue to share you and your positive vibes with people I know. Keep up the great videos, much love as always! 😉😊
Donna Summer, Gwenn Dickey, Tina Turner, to just mention a few of the greatest voices to come out of OUR era. That was music! Thank you for this one "JJ". PEACE!!!!!
Jamel, you were right about that being timeless music. There were many songs from the 70’s that are timeless. I urge you to please listen to Earth Wind & Fire’s: That’s The Way of The World. It will take you to another place. I love your reviews Jamel.
I was just hitting puberty when I first heard her and I was in love (me and millions of others). I had all of her music, including her concept albums. Virtually any Donna is good Donna,.
We need singers like Donna Summers!! A very powerful voice that can belt out the songs but can control their voice so they can slow down and sing romantic songs. There is a video of Donna Summer singing this song live from VH1 Presents in 1999. It is really awesome and she sounded the same!!! She's beautiful. Her singing was beautiful. It's a wonderful performance.
People make fun of disco, but dancing to it was some of the most fun I ever had. So my memories are all just happy and nobody can change that.
At the time, yes, especially is we were not mid teens. But now, oh my gosh. So much to dance to and just brings back good memories even during a chaotic home life.
donna summer transcended disco though
@@ANDY1985UK2011
She sure did. She was better than Diana ross.
People protested against Disco too by burning Disco records. Silly humans!
OMG the clubs, the peeps, the dancing.................irreplaceable.
I remember closing time in the clubs. They’d put this song on, everyone would race to the dance floor! Great times! 💃🏼
It was the last dance, last song and a warning the lights are going to be turned on. 😀
Yes!!!! I remember that 😃
Those were the days!
Yup. All her songs were like that. Disco queen
@ LeosHouse I lived in Florida and you are so right This song was the last song of the night~~
She is the queen of disco for her voice alone!!! The sister can sing!!!
Beautiful Donna with that angelic voice. Queen of Disco when she sings you just gotta get up and dance!. RIP
This was always the last song played at the clubs. "Last Dance" Then lights came on and you were ushered out. Memories!
It was last dance also at the skater rink..... so much fun to dance to.
Never wanted the night to end!
Donna Summer still gives me the chills when I listen to her sing. Never ever did she phone it in, hold back... always gave it her all. And as long as we still listen to her voice she lives on in all of us.

God, i miss the voice of this woman! So unique and underrated. To this day there hasn't been one voice similar to Donna's.

Wonderful, these were such great times, Donna was The Queen, thanks for sharing this! It was a time of love and understanding.
I loved dancing to disco when I was a boy, even after the 80s came and a ton of people hated it. Metal, New Wave, Disco, 60s Soul...it's all good :D
I'm not a disco or '80s snob either.
OMG I love the IndianaBones mash up! Very clever, indeed. “I’m an archeologist, not an elevator”…
@@jdsteppenzyde Thanks! I saw the picture somewhere on the internet and seeing how it combined two of my favorite characters, I had to use it here :D
How easy does she belt that song out! Gives me chills. Her stuff with Giorgio Moroder kicks ass. I feel Love is on Midnight Special too!
Yessss the Disco Queen!!! RIP beautiful soul... 🧡
What an incredible voice. RIP Miss Donna

Same with The Bee Gees
Truth
True but her fans knew better. One thing about back then, fans showed respect to the artists because the artists showed such respect to the audience.
TRUTH!
And she’s hardly putting any effort in. Damn those talentless autocue kids today

What, no auto-tune? What a voice.
Lmao no one had auto tune back then. They just had Real talent. And worked bloody hard. Donna was no diva imho. She was a singing queen

One of my young crushes. Loved this woman. Taken from us way too soon. Thank you Lord for letting us have her with us for a little while.
Love Donna, grew up with her, but this song makes me feel like I'm on 'The Love Boat' cruise ship and the disco is in full swing!!

Mine too, I was saying exactly that to my friend on Friday. No kidding.
I prefer her version to Jon Anderson’s!
Absolutely. Once heard, never forgotten. Goosebumps just thinking about it.
I was a rock guy through and through in 1978. I professed my hate for disco. But, secretly I have ALWAYS loved this song (and also On the Radio)
Donna Summer was a magnificent talent. She always performed with style and class. Thank you Jamel for this upload and reaction! 😊
