The Upper Peninsula really is God’s country. I’ve never felt more at one with nature then swimming in the cold fresh waters of the Tahquamenon River and letting the falls cascade over me. A few I still haven’t been to up there, I’ll have to get on that. Wonderful video, all the best

Wow! This is a fantastic video showcasing the beauty of these U.P. waterfalls! I've only been to Tahquamenon Falls years ago. We stayed in a cabin in Paradise and went on up to Whitefish Point. So beautiful. I turned that trip into a Pasty Tasting Tour. My grandfather was born in Cornwall, and we grew up eating Cornish Pasties! My comfort food! Haha. New sub here. Spray falls along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is my favorite. A couple times I've crawled through the thick brush with my collapsible chair, following Spray creek to the lakeshore. Transparent water plunges over the edge 50+ feet into lake Superior. Because you have to crawl, you're almost guaranteed to have it to yourself. A great way to spend a sunny, summer afternoon.

Very nice preview of “some” of the falls up here. Many other beautiful falls you may not know of. In Marquette County alone, there are 110 waterfalls to visit. Some are not spectacular, but gives you an idea of the number and variety. There is a 3 book series on the waterfalls of Michigan that anyone should review before coming up here. Living up here in the UP we have marked out 15 waterfalls to “discover” each summer within 90 miles of where we live. Truly blessed to live up here.

Well worth the drive up Black River Rd. to hike the stairs and see all the waterfalls between Bessemer and Black River harbor along the Black River. Also worth the hike to see Laughing Whitefish Falls north of M-94 on the Laughing Whitefish River. (Alger County?) Many many more falls to see as well. Something a bit different? Check the Victoria Dam/impoundment/power station on the Middle branch of the Ontonagon River near the old ghost town of Victoria (being restored) in Ontonagon County. One more falls? How 'bout Kakabika Falls north of Marenisco and US 2 in Gogebic County. Just a small drop in a BIG bucket list of MI waterfalls...and more.

In the very warm summer of 2012, we boated along the west shore of Grand Island. We came ashore at one falls that fell off the 25 ft cliffs into Lake Superior. It was beautiful. Let's hope future generations can hold off "development" of the U.P. so we can preserve its beauty for centuries to come.

I have seen Bond Falls, Agate Falls, Munising Falls, Alger Falls and Wagner Falls at least once, and the Tahquamenon Falls several times, some via the Toonerville Trolley...They never get boring! Recently, I got to check out Jacob's Falls in the Keewenaw, but equally as beautiful are the Manganese Falls near Copper Harbor, Silver River Falls and Eagle River Falls in the town of Eagle River, as well as Ocqueoc Falls in the Lower Peninsula...There is O'Kun De Kun Falls, too! Hopefully, you will profile more of them at some point, but you now have me marking Sable, Canyon and Twin Waterfalls on my next visit to the U.P. You might also want to profile a few lighthouses and bridges, as well...I recommend the Portage Lake Bridge in Houghton, the Keystone Bridge in Ramsey, The Cut River Bridge near Epoufette, the oldest covered bridge The Whites Covered Bridge in Ionia County, the Fallasburg Covered Bridge near Lowell, the Langley Covered Bridge near Centreville and Three Rivers, the Zehnder's Holz Brucke in Frankenmuth and of course, the Ambassador Bridge, the Blue Water Bridge, the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge and the Mighty Mackinac!!!

For a real treat visit the Twin Falls in Munising in winter. That little trickle of water becomes an enormous ice formation. You'll need snowshoes but the trail is very manageable and there are few people. Sable Falls is in Grand Marais not Seney. Did those 168 Stairs on snowshoes. That was an adventure. Dead River falls in Marquette is not featured in this video but is one of my favorites although you'll need good hiking shoes and need to be able to navigate very primitive trails.

Have been to Taquanomon falls for sure and I think the Sable falls- I definitely remember doing lots of stairs🤣. Fun story: my SIL thought it was a short hike between the lower( where we started) T falls and the upper and that it was boardwalk the whole way. There were 8 adults, a 9 month old who wasnt walking yet, and 1 dog. One adult was diabetic, 2 with bad knees and one very overweight/ out of shape person. We had NO snacks, and no water. It was mid summer. The trail was beautiful but we were not smart at all and it's surprising no one ended up in the hospital. Everyone made it and we proudly tell the story regularly. 😅

I would love to visit all these falls. Where is a good place to stay when touring these falls and how many days would you need? I live in the Southwest so it would be a big trek up to the UP for me. We have so much desert here I need to see green (lol).

    • @HaventSeenItYet

Lisa, yes you should come visit all those waterfalls in Michigan's U.P. We didn't even hit them all!
We spent 9 nights in 9 different places all over the UP, but if you want one spot you can visit the most waterfalls, Munising would probably be the place to stay. I think there were about 9-12 waterfalls within 1 hour of Munising. The UP has a ton of things to offer in addition to the waterfalls. Things we think you should visit are Mackinac Island (it's like going back in time with the horse drawn carriages and bikes -- no autos allowed) , the Mackinaw Bridge, the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Point, dozens of lighthouses on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, The Big Spring near Manistique, Fayette Historic State Park, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the ski jump in Iron Mountain, Copper or Iron Mine tours, the list could go on and on. Make sure you try a "Pastie" (read reviews, some are better than others) while you're there and don't forget the World Famous Mackinaw Fudge. While we live in lower Michigan and have visited the UP several times, we haven't visited ALL of the great places yet. If you discover something new, let us know. Have a great trip!

I love waterfalls too. Your video of all of the falls is great. Only one complaint. Please spell Tahquamenon correctly in your title. It is easy to edit. It almost turned me off from watching. I have a special place in my heart for Tahquamenon Falls and river. We live there. Thanks in advance.

Phil - yes, we were aware of that when we took the trip. Just not enough time to visit everything we wanted to. Nine days is just not enough. Guess we’ll have to visit again to catch what we missed previously. 😀

Good information for anyone planning to visit this winter and maybe spring of 2022. Looks like it will open back up after trail reconstruction sometime in 2022 according to this webpage michigannature.org/news/article/Twin-Waterfalls-Closure.html
