    I don't think Canada will be ready for the Copa America. However, if they get out of Group A, that would indicate to me that they're getting their shit together, And if that is the case, they stand a reasonable chance against Ecuador or Mexico. That means Canada's chance of a SF berth is low but possible. I would say that their chance is similar to the US making the SF. I'd be quite surprised if Mexico makes the SF.

    • @greglawrence9230
      @greglawrence9230 2 месяца назад +2

      The path couldn't be any better for Canada and all the variables are all falling into place for a strong showing (relatively, of course). I lean towards Canada being ready. All the players know full well what style Jesse Marsch is looking for - Kristian Jack reported that one of the players responded with "F*ck me" in regards to all the work that'll be required under his management. Marsch has said he'll be able to bring a large group to the friendlies camp, which means he's going to select the guys who are ready to buy into his program and make it happen. I think the Netherlands/France matches, plus the Argentina match, will be enough to get the machine properly oiled and ready to get results against Peru and Chile - assuming we don't lose too many key players to fatigue/injury getting to those matches, cause the pool depth obviously isn't strong. But I think Chile and Peru have plenty to worry about here.

    • @djknox2
      @djknox2 2 месяца назад

      @@greglawrence9230 I would only caveat that with questioning whether the player's heads are fully back in it. They have been very dissatisfied with the CSA and it was that attitude that got in the way of playing well over the past year. IF the players can bring the hunger they had back in 2020 again, absolutely Chile and Peru, and Mexico or Ecuador, have plenty to worry about. Canada has a lot of speed with experience growing by the month, with 3/4 of the players playing in National top flight leagues across Europe. I do worry about injuries because depth is vulnerable. Currently 2 of their top 16 are out with injuries (Laryea and Osorio). I would put their probability of reaching the QF at 35%, and winning that QF at 30%. So 10% overall chance of reaching the SF. Winning the SF at 10%, so only 1% chance of reaching the finals.

    • @OttawaRocks
      @OttawaRocks 2 месяца назад

      Previously, my expectations for Canada were for them to score a goal and get a draw in the group. That's it. However, there are 2 wild cards. First, they have the Netherlands and France to play against prior to the tournament which gives them some elite level practice. Second, Marsch and how he manages the team is a wild card. We will see how it goes.

    • @greglawrence9230

    I know that Tact always underestimates Canada's chances, as he says that Canada doesn't have a chance in the quarterfinals versus Mexico.
    I have zero idea why he would say that.
    Last year, Canada was in the final versus the U.S. in the Nations cup. In the last 2 matches versus Mexico in 2022, Canada beat them in Canada & tied them in Mexico (Canada did the same to the U.S.). Canada finished #1 in those qualifiers. Unfortunately Canada ended up in the group of death in the 2022 World cup & although they didn't win a match, they totally outplayed the #2 ranked Belgium team in their 1st match. Their next 2 opponents ended up in the semi-finals.
    Canada's very young stars, Davies, David, Buchanan, Eustaquio, Kone & Johnston, who are all playing in Europe, are all better and more experienced now. The team is much faster in general, as a lot of young talent has been added. Canada will be one of the youngest teams in Copa.
    The Canadian team under an interim coach & the Canadian soccer organization struggled in 2023, but there is very recent new leadership now & Jesse Marsch is their new coach & he will bring a lot of enthusiasm & an aggressive press style to the team.
    Much like the U.S, Canada will play 2 very tough friendlies before the Copa versus the Netherlands & France. Canada should not win those matches; but they will have the team well prepared to face Argentina in their 1st match in the Copa & then Peru & Chili should present much less of a challenge.
    I totally expect Canada to get out of their group in the Copa & the Canadian youth, speed & press will give Mexican defenders fits. Canada's top players are better than Mexico's & Canada will have a very good chance of making it to the semi-finals, which makes them a very likely "Dark Horse". It really depends on how quickly their team can gel under Jesse Marsch.

    I believe that the references Cor stating the possibilities of Panamá against USA and Uruguay teams are not totally right. The last time when USA and Panamá faced in Orlando that usa won 5 to nil was in a moment very different to the actual competitive situation that Panamá is today, beside the context in which Panamá was playing. Panama was in need of a victory to continue the race to catar, beside having a blow on a 1 to 1 draw against honduras before the USA game. And finally at that time the formation of Panamá was 433, and now days the formation is a 343, making it a much better balanced formation that give more equilibrium to panama rather than the ultra defensive 433, very offensive but rather leave many holes in the back. Just remember that in the begin Ning of Panamá using that formation, Panamá faced Venezuela, and Cameron getting a draw in both games. That was the formation that Panamá dominated usa in gold cup, and being honest Panamá should had won that game in the 90 minutes. Concerning the games of Uruguay vs Panamá that the last two time they faced Panamá got trashed. It is important to notice that bot teams were not the A team but C team made up mainly from local league players, with very few days of training, since both game were organized since the main rival for Uruguay dropped at the last minute. Another point to state both game were not directed by Christiansen himself but for his assistances....After saying this it is by no means that I want you to have the impression that I am suggesting that Panamá is superior to usa or uruguay, but rather my intention is to say that either usa and uruguay hasnot faced panama within it full competitive and mental level. Just to say that during nation league, on those days Thomas christiansen' s father's dies as welll as a player's dad did too...

    I think Filippo is reading Canada's situation rightly here. I enjoy Jack a lot but I think he's blinded by bias on this. He's also weighting Canada's 2023 performances heavily and. prior FA nonsense, which is fair, but I think that's all in the past now. Kevin Blue is cleaning everything up. And this was clearly recorded prior to Jesse Marsch being announced, and I'm sure Jack would recognize that changes things significantly. Canada will show up - whether it's enough to get through the group.....it'll be a fight, for sure.

    Finally, the crossover I've been waiting for: Tactical Manager & Dead Ball TV. Ball knowledge with Filipo & Jack is 500,000,000.
    This may be hyperbolic, but I think Mexico 🇲🇽 and Jamaica 🇯🇲 have the potential to go the farthest in Copa America
    Group B is the most unpredictable of all groups in the tournament. There's a possibility that Mexico and Jamaica could advance to the next round.
    Mexico 🇲🇽 has arguably the best Copa America pedigree of any CONCACAF side. They'll no what to expect and have the experience of making the finals twice (I think 🤔). "Chino" Huerta, Quinones, Edson Alvarez, Cesar Montez, Johan Vasquez, Carrillo, Santi Gimenez, and Diego Lainez highlight a very talented roster for El Tri.
    My ReggaeBoyz 🇯🇲 always seems to stumble in major competitions. However, i like our chances for 3 reasons. First, a physical lockdown defense 🔐 anchored by Damion Lowe, Ethan Pinnock (when healthy 🙄), and Dexter Lembikisa. Second, a midfield that's been infused with quality young players: Kasey Palmer, Demarai Gray, Joel Latibeaudiere, and Renaldo Cephas. Third, an attacking core with a good blend of youth and experience: Bobby Decordova-Reid, Leon Bailey, Dujuan "Whisper" Richards, Michail Antonio (when healthy 😒), Jamal Lowe, Shemar Nicholson. This new wave of talent has added a technical element to our athleticism, which will take us deep in the tournament.

    I have 4 CONCACAF teams advancing out of the group: Canada 🇨🇦, Jamaica 🇯🇲, Mexico 🇲🇽, USA 🇺🇲.
    I don't trust Gregg Berhalter, no matter how stacked the USA roster is. Plus, the USA 🇺🇸 has a tendency to underperform when the lights are brightest. I see them bowing out in the in the quarterfinals like they always do.
    Canada 🇨🇦 seems lost since John Herdman has left. Sidebar: How on God's green Earth 🌎 did they let him walk 🙄? I digress, the unfamiliar Copa intensity, Canada's atrocious record against CONMEBOL, and the turmoil with their Federation could see the Canucks getting grouped. However, i say they'll barely qualify and lose in the quarterfinals.
    Jamaica 🇯🇲 is built for the physicality of this tournament. Plus, we can have the best athletes on the pitch on any good day. I see my ReggaeBoyz battling to the semis. We likkle but we talliwah (We're small but mighty).
    Mexico 🇲🇽 has the experience to make it to the semis. El Tri also wants to show their fans that they are still a force in the region.

      So if both Jamaica and Mexico make the semis which one defeats Argentina to get there?

    • @ravensmedical9153
      @ravensmedical9153 2 месяца назад +1

      @jacoblind5390 The winner of Group A (Argentina, most likely) plays the runner-up of Group B. I don't want my ReggaeBoyz facing Argentina in the quarterfinals, so we'll have to win Group B. For this exercise, Mexico 🇲🇽 faces Argentina 🇦🇷 in the quarterfinals.
      Realistically, Mexico 🇲🇽 loses to Argentina 🇦🇷 but anything can happen, right 🤷🏿‍♂️? I'm aware that I just contradicted my own argument, but the silver lining is Jamaica makes it to the semis 😉.

      @@truenoae8689 yes that was Pulisic fault. Scoring a great goal and assisting vs Bolivia then I forgot he’s the one that punched a Panama player and then decided to sub on a center back for gio and bunker for 70 minutes. God if only he could coach and control our other players like it’s fifa… ok he was forcing things in the Uruguay game because they needed 2 goals and it wasn’t working but it doesn’t work for anyone that often when you’re forcing shit that hard so (surprised). You do know if the US was on Canada’s side of the bracket they would have also made the semi, but getting grouped is only as much on Pulisic as you give him blame for endorsing berhalter
