  • Neversink winstrip trays vs bootstrap farmer cell trays? Which is better? What are the pros and cons of each? Which one holds up better? These are all great questions and I’m going to break down my opinion of the Bootstrap trays vs neversink trays and which one I like the most and will be using moving forward #neversinktraysvsbootstraptrays #seedstartingtrays #celltrays #gardening #garden #startingseeds #seedstarting #neversinkwinstriptrays #bootstrapfarmertrays

bootstrap has air pruning trays now. I'd love to see a comparison between the two brands. :)

Yea for sure. Unfortunately bootstrap only has the 72 cell air pruning trays but I’m betting they both perform the same side by side

@@tannerfarmstead I actually bought the boot strap air pruning tray and the 6 cells. The 6 cells are by far more easy to use than the tray in my opinion. I love them. They claim to have plans to release all sizes in air pruning and I hope they do because their 32 cell ones were a pain in my arse this year.

It's crazy that this video came up, I was just on bootstrap's website yesterday; I'm ordering their extra tough 6 cell plug trays for next season. Great video man, glad I'm subbed.

The number of cells depends on how fast the seedling grows. There are 200 seedling trays for big production which need up potting or transplanting in a production environment soon after germination. For me a backyard gardener I use 32 cell trays avoiding seedling up potting

Bootstrap has a very similar site pruning tray akin to the winstrip trays, I thought that was the comparison you were doing. I'd like someone to do a side by side of those two.

    • @tannerfarmstead

That would be a good video. I’d argue no difference between the winstrip and bootstrap air pruning. They are nearly identical

@@tannerfarmstead I was wondering more about the material used to mold the trays and if one seemed to hold up better than the other, I'm sure they both function very similarly. One of them looked to be a more fiberglass based resin than the other so I wondered about rigidity and if it would be more of a brittle/breakable material. Thanks!

@@MK-ti2oo well I can safely say the neversink trays will last a lifetime. I’m betting the bootstrap air prune tray will as well. But not sure on material used for the molds

How large are the Bootstrap holes in an equivalent sized tray?

    • @tannerfarmstead

The will be similar if they are both 72 feel or 128 cell etc

      Exactly.
However, these were not equivalent, so commenting on the hole size of a 128 compared to a 72 isn’t a real comparison, or fair.
A real comparison would have been between two, 72 cell trays, both with air pruning, but by different companies.

In your opinion, if I sowed into 128 trays would the air pruning benefit allow me to grow seedlings to transplant without potting up? Trying to decide if I can get away with that size, or if 72s would be the best way to go overall. Thanks!

Depends on how long the seedlings will be in the trays for? If they won’t be in there long then you can just transplant when ready

Not a far comparison since Bootstrap Farmer has a similar (and far more superior) propagation tray than Winstrip. The 72 cell propagation tray is very similar but the Bootstrap Farmer trays with round finger holes and the air pruning slits have much more cleaner and not so sharp edges. Regret disagreeing with you on this comparison.

    • @tannerfarmstead

Bootstrap only has 1 size air pruning tray which is the 72 cell. Pretty limited when it comes to needing differing sizes

@@tannerfarmsteadI was just looking at them both yesterday. I'm looking for 50 cell trays. The bad thing about Neversink is you have to buy 10 trays at a cost of $100. Most home gardeners don't need 10 trays. That's why I'm hoping bootstrap will come out with different size trays soon.
