Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona (May 2024)

Petrified Forest, located in northeastern Arizona, is a unique landscape renowned for its vast deposits of 200 million years old petrified wood. The park, established in 1962, spans approximately 600 km² and showcases a diverse array of geological and paleontological treasures, whose centerpiece is the extensive collection of petrified wood, remnants of an ancient forest from the Late Triassic period.
The arid, rugged terrain is punctuated by dramatic mesas, buttes, and barren plains, offering a glimpse into the region's dynamic geological history.
