She does SO MUCH better when she's not given crappy choreography, when she's given choreography that shows off all her tricks while still involving actual dancing and artistry.
This is still my favorite solo of hers. It really to me tells her story of the ups and downs of her dance career while on Dance Moms/Club. She’s brilliant.
can't believe she didn't place but the dance awards always has beeen a tough competition your first place at regionals can to be your 8th place at nationals and she hasn't been training in a new year it seems like she's reprogressing I hope she gets better
They do train actually, but they don't have very good technical teachers unlike at her home studio where they really care about technique which is very important in being a dancer, I can tell you this because I am a dancer, and honestly Abby is not a good teacher, there are hundreds of teachers in Los Angeles that are much much better.
if I’m allowed to give my unprofessional opinion:this should have gotten a perfect score. I mean her technique is pretty much perfect, absolutely stunning. Her emotion was so beautiful, this brought me near tears, and the choreography and song, come on now. Perfection. Feel free to ask questions!
It’s extremely rare to get a perfect score at TDA. Kalani is phenomenal but you can tell something was a bit off here compared to when she performed this on DM. But definitely still deserved a high adjudication!
Looking at technique, it's obvious she stumbled a few times not to mention putting her hand down to stop herself from falling. Technique-wise, this wasn't her greatest performance. Some transitions were poorly executed and the flexibility isn't as impressive as it needs to be for TDA. This is still a high scoring solo but nowhere near deserving of a perfect score. Kalani was a great dancer, easily the best at the ALDC from the moment she arrived (sorry Maddie stans) but the talent and ability of the dancers who go to compete at TDA is a whole different level. Had Kalani kept training with Club Dance and not transferred to the ALDC she would've been a much greater dancer than what she amounted to and she was still amazing in season 7. Abby loved Kalani, it's true, but she also sabotaged her and let her get worse so that Maddie could still be passed off as the best dancer on the team.
BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING!!!! she lost to daviana who knew that solo for months and worked on it and competed with it a lot that's why she won but I my eyes kalani still won and Daviana didn't compete against her
too bad we only get to see about half that performance at Sheer Talent and the camera cuts are like every 2 seconds and we have to suffer the reaction shots of the moms' in the audience and all that $%^&
The choreography in this solo is so much better than what Abby normally gives her. The only thing Kalani needed was more emotion and facial expressions.
Brock Thiele it's not much different at all ,in fact most of Abbys choreography she did very with ,I don't know when this competition was ,but I'm glad she is getting away from the irreplaceables and doing what she does so well ,not watered-down choreography that looked like it was made for a beginner dancer made for Chloe and Kendall who's dancing has gotten extremely weak! Thank God your back Kalani! Maybe she didn't place because she lost some flexibility dancing with them and she couldn't have been training for too long ,she is just getting back in the game ,thank God! Rachel Cole not Kenneth Cole
Kalani's body speaks for herself. Her fluidity gave her emotions. I don't think she needs to do more facial expressions, her technique and talent already do the job
Technically, Kalani placed 3rd in the Best Dancer competition and her solo Free was a part of that. This solo False was Kalani's entry in the Finals Competition. She didn't place with this, but the competition was very fierce. You do know that Kalani wud be in a different age category from maddie. And that being said they always tend to give the older dancers tougher critics when judging them so she mightn't have won anyway.
The rules for TDA define the teen age division as 13-15 years old as of January 1 of the competition year. Since Kalani's birth date is September 23, 2000, she would have been only 15 on January 1, 2016. (If she competes a solo at TDA in 2017, she will be considered a senior.) www.thedanceawards.com/competition
Perfect Dance Videos thank you for answering! I was confused about whether or not kalani did this routine as part of the dance awards, but your answer cleared that up for me.
This solo "False" was for the regular Finals Competition and her other solo was "Free" for the Teen Best Dancer Competition ruclips.net/video/MDVh_bIFyaA/видео.html

This solo just makes me more appreciative of how lucky I am to learn from Will at conventions
At first I didn't care for this solo, but it has really grown on me! I love the song!
Same!! It really was good even though she had a couple flubs in the beginning
The choreography really allows her the freedom to dance her heart out. Love when choreographers can do this for dancers.

KALANI AND BRYNN ARE THE BEST DANCERS ON THE SHOW 😍
THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
Beautiful, breath taking.

yes, but she did win 2nd Runner-Up TDA Best Teen Female Dancer, part of which was her other solo "Free" ...

Tyvelle Dorvil ya I have a feeling that Abby is holding her back because they do not train as often as they should

Amazing
she did the same dance on dance moms it looks better in this video though.
Becca louise and they cut out a lot of this solo in DM
Disagree she was a little shaky at times in TDA in DM it was perfection tho
Still did grear

So cool 😎😎 she is genious 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍
Amo muito ballet
How did this not place?
In dance moms she wears a bun but for this she wears a pony
Yes my king
She actually danced it better in the show, I think that’s why this didn’t place

She was such a good dancer until she went to Abby
Isn't she a senior, not a teen?

Ahh ok thanks!
Perfect Dance Videos so Kalamazoo was born on the CUSP of beauty that makes sense
did kalani complete this solo for the dance awards 2016? but i thought they were over in the summer, and this routine was months after that?
yes, this video is Kalani competing at TDA Las Vegas July 2016. TDA is usually in July, yep. So what's your question exactly?

What team was she competing under because if it's club dance she would have been disqualified since it's not their piece
Evidently, that's not so because Kalani did compete at TDA under Club Dance.
It doesn’t matter who the choreographer is.
