  • Mastercam 2018 now includes parameters for adjusting feed rates on arc moves in 2D Contour and Slot Mill toolpaths, and 3D Waterline toolpaths. You will find these new parameters on the Arc Filter/Tolerance page.

    I'm waiting for this

Hi, I'm currently using mastercam 2022.
I have a question, is it possible to increase the feed rate when milling holes? So that there is a small feed at the start and it increases with the increase of the hole? As is the case, for example, with the heidenhain control in Cycle 252 "base feed number 3".
    Thanks and regards

Hi there! The best comparable thing in Mastercam is the ability in contour toolpaths to vary the feedrate based off the ID or OD of the profile. To use this, look under the arc filter page and turn on 'override arc feedrate'. For drilling holes there is the ability in the Chamfer drill toolpath to 'maintain SFM' under the cut parameters. This will vary the RPM to maintain proper SFM for any size hole. Although neither of these options directly compare to the Heidenhain function you are asking about, if using dynamic toolpaths to clear a circular pocket, the dynamic algorithm will ensure the tool is experiencing the same chip load and load and this type of feed variation is really not needed. Our recommendation would be to use Dynamic where possible!

@@mastercam hello thanks for the answer. I know and use the arc filter in the contour path;) However, I think that there is a need to adjust the feed rate as in cycle 252. Dynamic paths are great and I use them very often. When I drill a hole, e.g. 9mm for a screw, and then I enter vertically with an 8mm milling cutter and milling dynamically to diameters, e.g. 15, there is a problem in the initial stage of movement - no space for chip evacuation, and the possibility of breaking the tool, then I have to manually slow down the feed and then increase it. However, I am going to want to add cycle 252 with HH, I will contact my local Mastercam not to change it manually every time. greetings;)
