im indian. non- hindus wearing bindi is not offensive at all. i honestly feel happy when other races wear bindi. its more like they are embracing our culture.

The bindis which are the accessory types are not religious. *EVERYONE in india* wear a bindi if they want to. It’s like a fashion thing in India regardless of their religion. 😹
I’m Christian indian and worn bindi since birth LMAO.

I don't think non-Hindus wearing a bindi to an Indian wedding or event is offensive. While there are historically religious connotations to the bindi, most Indians would tell you that it's really seen more as an accessory today - hence why people wear bindis of all different colors, designs, and shapes.

Yea not only that ....all Indians / and other south Asians people wear bindi.
It’s not only Hindus. If you are talking about the accessory kind of bindi then yeah ...it’s not religious.

Bad advice!! You can wear a bindi! Nobody but the PC thugs would mind! Also, DON'T wear a crop top and maxi skirt to an Indian wedding! That's too casual. Just go to any Indian shop or order it online. Or wear an evening gown with a shawl backwards on your neck if you're desperate. Also, most Indians are Caucasian too - there's nothing wrong with saying white!

My whole Indian self couldnt go to school with a bindi on without people being like" wtf is on your forehead " etc and now white chicks can wear it and its a cool body gem on them? So yeah its cultural appropriation esp if theyre going to call in body gem or henna hand tattoos

I completely disagree, I find that if a non Hindu was to wear a Bindi, its perfectly fine... they are showing that they are embracing and experiencing pats of a different culture. Also the types of Bindis people wear these days do look more like a fashion accessory compared to the traditional red dot of a Bindi.

well just to blanket it in yes or no is rather problematic. Every one has an opinion and their answer changes according to their experiences.
if you are in India. some Indians will feel happy about indian culture is being liked,
"SOME" Indians will feel oooo white people wearing our cultural symbols, i'm so honored. If you ask Indian Americans. the ones who dont care about Hinduism will say fine do what ever you want i don't care. Religious people will say its religious and its sacred to me. An indian-American girl who has been made fun of for wearing a bindi, her mom has been ridiculed of wearing a bindi. she has been made to feel ashamed for her indianness and she hates her self. And now suddenly its cool to wear bindi, the people who made fun now are rocking a bindi and you want that girl to say "Oh its ok" its perfectly fine.
You are not wrong in what you are saying, you have had an different experience. but know this, other people have had different experiences and they might not agree with you.
