Just looked at the listing, it was sold at 81 USD. Heres another good hint that its bullshit. Item location is listed as Jerusalem, Israel, yet it is being shipped from China/Hong Kong.
He is also selling a rare copy of Donkey Kong Pilot, a GBA game that was never released but had its ROM dumped in 2011. Did he get this from his brother too?
TheArceusftw im cool with that. i couldve never completed digimon world on psx, cuz (little Trivia) the german psx version was bugged or glitched at ogre's castle and therefore u could not go any further than midgame through your city's Level. so i emulated the english version or even us version (?) to finally beat mashinedramon and analogman and restore peace to the city. awesome game.
eBay doesn't give two shits they could list it as repro, burned, copies, bootleg and it will still stay up on there site for weeks even after complaints it takes them a rediculous amount of time to shut it down.
Ya but if ya get agressif to the sellers thay ban you in one second for 2 weeks and they started it with a big mouth on your question about a product !
I dont about the cartridges but the boxes are 100% fake. They have a nintendo logo above the gameboy color logo on the side. No real gameboy color box has that on it.
Also maybe it was different in the US but I'm fairly sure Gold & Silver just had "GameBoy" on the box because they technically weren't GBC games. And Crystal, which was GBC only, wouldn't have had the plastic game cover. I'm fairly sure no GBC games had that cover, that was an original GB cartridge thing.
thats nothing people are selling N64 repros like Conker and Mario Party 2 for 25$ and people bitch when they find out it's not authentic. I mean what do you expect when it's shipped from CHINA!
Homebrews on these types of carts I understand, but repros are just stupid, you might as well just get an Everdrive flash cart, and put the game on it instead of fake repro.
If it's form Israel than it is almost definitely a boot leg. Bootlegging video games and movies is extremely rampant in that country to the point where many companies don't even bother releasing games legitimately there, and there are almost no stores to buy them legitimately.
Fox McCloud those are pretty over the top assumptions to make about a person simply based on a youtube avatar. Can you guess what someone's favorite food is based on the shoes they wear?
The boxes in the picture are obviously fake because they're so flat and dark. The real boxes are shiny as fuck and regardless of how little glare there is those things will still shine or at least look less vibrant.
The bigger tell than the manual is that the GBC games did not have a removable cardboard insert or clamshell cases. The boxes had built-in folds and cuts to hold the game without a tray. But, come one guys: These have always been on eBay. Like, since the games were still in store and the bootleggers were undercutting the MSRP. Not that it makes it OK (far from it), but it makes it not very notable.
You can very faintly see just the word "GAME" on the top of the Silver & Gold version on the Ebay listing, which is a sure sign of bootleg carts ( the early 90's Japanese Gameboy Multi-carts did this or were just perfectly smooth where it says "Nintendo Game Boy")
Just so you know, back in the day legitimate stores in Israel sometimes carried fake game boy games. Someone who bought the games in the 90s for the full price in a store like ToysRUs could have been ripped off, and most people would never know (except for avid collectors). Considering this, there's a chance the seller is just being honest in the description. That aside, the listing eventually sold.
Instead of them saying Gameboy on the cartridge, they say "GAME". I bought every version from a China seller including the orange version and team rocket version LMAO. They are hilarious.
I see scammers on eBay selling gameboy systems with "free Zelda or Pokemon game." They are able to get away with hyping up the purchase price with their "free" fake game, and claim no responsibility for it being fake since it was advertised "free" in the sale... If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
The weird part is the account is from Jerusalem, Israel but they are shipping from Hong Kong. This means they are most likely drop shipping from a user in China who makes knock off games.
I knew these were fake. The moment I saw the GB protective cases. The real games didn't come with them. They only came in a crummy plastic bag. With the cardboard insert fitted to the size of the cart only.
I once received a fake copy of Pokemon Sapphire on GBA many years ago. I didn't suspect a thing at first. I got through most of the game and wanted to try linking with Colosseum on Gamecube. My save file was wiped. I contacted the seller and they tried to fob me off by claiming it was geniune. Bullshit. I managed to get a genuine copy elsewhere eventually. At least from that experience it taught me how to spot a fake GBA cartridge. I'm not going to fall for that again.
I Could tell just by the Crystal cartridge should be in a GBC cartridge and the colors are off on all 3 games they should be brighter and the boxes and stickers should be hologram if someone is gonna go this far with the repro Pokémon games atleast do it right lol
No holo on the main pictures, Crystal color looks off, I don't see any hint of glitter from the three games since they made these three shine a little. Also the games are inserted in wrong and no Gameboy written on the white part beneath the game slots on the white cardboard. But the pictures are so far away from the games I can't tell if the games have a holo or the boxes. But that Crystal color looks off to me still or it's the plastic GB sleeve.
Just in case he really really doesn't know if they are fake... Well, start the auction at 1$ then and tell the bidders "There is a chance that these are fake, I'm stupid and don't know anything about the stuff I'm selling. Bid at your own risk!" But no, he is selling them for a price that's already pretty high for boxed Pokemon GBC games without manuals. If the rest didn't sound fishy, this does.
The game boy colour side bar on the box in the middle is stretched. The colours on the game boy colour logo are too saturated on the box. Game boy colour games did not come in the plastic clamshells and the plastic of the Crystal cart looks wrong. Also, Crystal came on one of the full Game boy colour carts with the bevelled part at the top, not the 'black cart' type cartridges with an embossed detail.
It is very simple. Any one who sells repros on ebay is a scumbag seller, and Ebay is a scumbag company for allowing it. The games' IP holders, and every legit used game store needs to send Ebay a cease and desist, and if they continue to allow it, sue the ever living shit out of them.
First thing that poked me in the eye (ouch!) is that the logos (Game Boy Color) are not uniform in size (the box in the middle looks suspecious), is that a way of telling those games could be fake?
Doesn't mean they were paid for just because people bid on them and they show up in the sold listings. It just means someone won the auction. As a full time ebay seller I deal with buyers like this all the time.
I don't sell on eBay full time, but I've had that happen to me in the past when I put up a few cell phones on eBay, and they got snatched up within minutes(using buy it now) of the listings going live by accounts with very low or no feedback ratings that never paid, or even answered about not paying, and what was even worse soon as my listings got sold within minutes other listings for the same phones went live, & while I can't prove it I think it was the same shady seller using Shill non paying accounts to keep other people from having the same product up at the same time as his which was selling for twice the price as I had mine listed for, plus I could not relist my items for 5 days per eBay's rules to give the so called "BUYER/S" time to respond back which again they never did. It's truly Fucking BS!! eBay should have a rule where Buy it Now auctions are required to be paid for within 1 hour or the Seller gets the option to relist for free, and Bid Auctions have to be paid for within 48 hours(I can understand people being tied up at work, or something else important when a Bid Auction ends), or the seller has option to relist again for free.
Commodorefan64 you can set up your account to not have new buyers purchase from you. Then just put in your description "buyers with zero feedback message me" or whatever
+VMUboy this was a good # of years back, and while I did not realize that at the time, I learned shortly after, and to be noted the phones I posted on eBay where all done with a few minutes of each other using the old TurboLister program for Windows, which honestly was crap to use, but my point still stands about eBay, and non paying buyers, and Bidder, as eBay over the years in my book unless you can sell high volumes of product has gotten to be kind of crap for the sellers, and and overwhelmingly favors the buyers on the site, as 9 times out of 10 in an eBay dispute of say the buyer got a defective, or broken item(even when they are clearly faking it) will just outright give the buyers their money back almost without question screwing over the sellers.
Boxes are a waste. I got a pretty good deal a few years back. I got all 3 without boxes, but in excellent physical condition with bad batteries for $50. It's very easy to solder in new batteries and pay less.
I've got a GBC cartridge for Pokemon Diamond that I got for my 7th birthday on eBay and was never able to find a lot of I'm info on it, anybody got any?
As an Israeli During the GBC period There were many fake games, and there were stores that sold them Today the situation is different Because it's easy to order original games Cheap Online One of the problems here is Games in the store are much more expensive than the United States
Pokemon carts are some of the most pirated carts ever. Its a shame for anyone trying to get a real version these days. Just terrible. I feel horrible for anyone who tries to find the GBA versions.
two huge dead giveaways is on Pokemon Crystal the rated E box is on the left instead of the right in on Pokemon Silver the rated e box is way bigger than it needs to be. very slight differences between theem and the originals. I see why someone bought it thinking they got deal. they literally just paid extra for hi res printed boxes
This gives out such a bad name for Israeli sellers on ebay. You see, Toys-R-Us in israel was selling FAKE Gameboy games in the 90s. I'm totally serious. people were opening them up to see no Nintendo logo on the games board. This is a huge problem in itself, so if it's from israel check 2-3 times. as a israeli.
This shit is why I usually don't go for complete in box GB/GBC/GBA games as there are so many fakes out there, but If I'm out thrifting, and do happen to come across legit GB/GBC/GBA games with their boxes, and manuals then I just consider it a bonus.
I'm fine with repros as long as they are cheap and list it as a repro. I want to play conker on N64, but not bad enough to pay 100+ dollars to play it.
No, he got it from his friends brother :)
Maybe his dad works for Game Boy.
it lays in this dude's genes. his uncle works for Nintendo xD
This is why I stick with emulation.(That and I don't really have a penny to my name.)
careful, people will kill you with salty comments in 5...4...3...
Fake Pokemon games, aka the most common counterfeits.
Sold for just over $100 including shipping.
Jesus...
Selling things for your friends brother is always a winner
Pat's Jim Halpert-esque look at the camera at 1:35 when Ian attempts Pat math haaaaaa
eBay doesn't give two shits they could list it as repro, burned, copies, bootleg and it will still stay up on there site for weeks even after complaints it takes them a rediculous amount of time to shut it down.
Ya but if ya get agressif to the sellers thay ban you in one second for 2 weeks and they started it with a big mouth on your question about a product !
James Coffey shit I just got banned for the same thing. Well suspended. 7 days!
Jason Rotbergs duh cause it makes them money
PyroFierceDeity yes, but companies are supposed to be legit though.
I dont about the cartridges but the boxes are 100% fake. They have a nintendo logo above the gameboy color logo on the side. No real gameboy color box has that on it.
pokemon crystal's cartridge had an "outtie" on the top of the cart's face so that one is definitely fake too
The fake boxes are always white on the inside and the real ones are gray cardboxes ! These are fake !
Dr. J. Protobum if you take a close look it definatly has an "outie" (no doubt its fake but its there if you look close enough).
Skywake Gold and silver did say gameboy color on the side of the boxes.
thats nothing people are selling N64 repros like Conker and Mario Party 2 for 25$ and people bitch when they find out it's not authentic. I mean what do you expect when it's shipped from CHINA!
Not only china ships repros ! America also !
THE_SPECIALIST_GAMER doesn't matter, it's 25$ bucks, you should know it's a repro.
25$ n64 repro that works. thats about the cost of the hardware to make it. as long as it says reproduction i'm fine.
Homebrews on these types of carts I understand, but repros are just stupid, you might as well just get an Everdrive flash cart, and put the game on it instead of fake repro.
you looked at the cost of an ever drive? costs at least 4 to 5 times as much. and are not kid friendly.
I know for a fact that Crystal is repro just looking at it.
So...More than likely Gold and Silver are to.
No Nintendo Seal on Gold or Crystal boxes = obviously fake.
If it's form Israel than it is almost definitely a boot leg. Bootlegging video games and movies is extremely rampant in that country to the point where many companies don't even bother releasing games legitimately there, and there are almost no stores to buy them legitimately.
*super Nintendo game boy game GAME FULL! EZ price SUPER SALE MUST GO!*
*All Sales Final! No refunds!!*
CHEAP! Zelda - Woke Game Card! SALE! $7.99 FREE SHIPPING!
my favorite is when they say PS1 PS2 PS3 PS4 in the fucking title even if its a PS2/PS3 game that literally can't be played on any other console.
can't be any worse than "Super Rare 1st edition Mint Holy Grail Free Shipping" for common games like Earthbound.
Fox McCloud those are pretty over the top assumptions to make about a person simply based on a youtube avatar. Can you guess what someone's favorite food is based on the shoes they wear?
I always thought you guys were hip to Mr. Plinkett

Broken English. That *totally* isn't a bad sign.

I love watching these two break down how many red flags there are with these sellers

Hey, another Ratchet fan!
I Could tell just by the Crystal cartridge should be in a GBC cartridge and the colors are off on all 3 games they should be brighter and the boxes and stickers should be hologram if someone is gonna go this far with the repro Pokémon games atleast do it right lol
I own a legitimate CIB copy of Pokemon Gold from my childhood and can confirm those inserts are not like the original ones.
Got stuck with a fake copy of Minish Cap recently, to my shock they were just disinterested in my dispute. Guy's still selling them.
Crystal has the wrong cart shell, it should have the GBC bump, and Silver looks more purple.
No holo on the main pictures, Crystal color looks off, I don't see any hint of glitter from the three games since they made these three shine a little. Also the games are inserted in wrong and no Gameboy written on the white part beneath the game slots on the white cardboard. I love Pat's new "Welcome Back Kotter" beard and hairdo. 😄😅😆 (Oh wait, Kotter only had the 1970s porn-stache with the hair...😋)
The E rating on the gold version is way smaller than it is on the silver version.
The Crystal cartridge in the beginning is fake. You can tell because the groove goes down, instead of bumping up.
I saw something about getting lose Pokemon game boy games for $3 a piece. Obviously they are repos.
I've got a PAL Pokemon Red somewhere in the back room, in box, with manual, are they actually worth anything nowadays?
Just in case he really really doesn't know if they are fake... Well, start the auction at 1$ then and tell the bidders "There is a chance that these are fake, I'm stupid and don't know anything about the stuff I'm selling. Bid at your own risk!"

Man I wish my sister hadnt destroyed my gameboy and collection, I had red through to gold as a kid, I loved them
These sold and people bid on them.

Blame the uneducated casual parents, I guess.
are they in different rooms?
no it's the same room , the same table. just two cameras at different angles
"barely used"
Because the first concern with a used video game is how often the cart was played. They always break from routine usage.
I bought a bunch of those 1st gen repro carts and gave them to my friends so they can have pokemon.
Note, the cardboard around the games looks fine, but why are they upside down in the cardboard? The games were on the top, not the bottom.
The game boy logo doesn't appear to be on the catridge
The only repro I would probably buy is Harvest Moon on SNES, considering it costs $300+ for an American cart to play.
Is there any money in gold and silver versions with fucked batteries? How much does the box and manuals matter?
I can almost make out the famous GAME logo on the cartridge there. SO, it's very fake.
Anyone who pays hundreds of dollars on a single video game because it is in a box, needs help.
Didn't the originals not have the plastic cases?
Boxes are a waste. I got a pretty good deal a few years back. I got all 3 without boxes, but in excellent physical condition with bad batteries for $50. It's very easy to solder in new batteries and pay less.
Someone could always buy these items, and then back charge their asses for counterfeits >:D
Righteous beards boys!!!!
Oh, den Waldschrat gibt es doch, und dann noch gleich 2 davon :D
The carts for both gold and silver look a bit off. They look almost see thru and real carts for those games are solid.
Those cardboard inserts look too small next to the box. They look like they would rattle around inside the box.
I think I found feedback by a buyer for this seller for another collection of the same games.
Limited Edition!
the beard is looking great, Pat.
I just noticed it. lol.
I've got a GBC cartridge for Pokemon Diamond that I got for my 7th birthday on eBay and was never able to find a lot of I'm info on it, anybody got any?
It's actually a japanese exclusive game known as Telefang. Super sad it never came to the US legit. They're really fun games.
As an Israeli
During the GBC period
There were many fake games, and there were stores that sold them
Today the situation is different
Because it's easy to order original games
Cheap Online
One of the problems here is
Games in the store are much more expensive than the United States
did crystal have a large top to the cartridge? Pretty sure it did. Although i guess they could be different elsewhere
Pokemon carts are some of the most pirated carts ever. Its a shame for anyone trying to get a real version these days. Just terrible. I feel horrible for anyone who tries to find the GBA versions.
They've been doing this for a long time now, this ain't new. Specifically Pokemon games.
cardboard inserts were shown upside down lol
The Cartridge of the Crystal version doesn't look correct.
two huge dead giveaways is on Pokemon Crystal the rated E box is on the left instead of the right in on Pokemon Silver the rated e box is way bigger than it needs to be. very slight differences between theem and the originals. I see why someone bought it thinking they got deal. they literally just paid extra for hi res printed boxes
*Refers to Luna Video Games bootleg spotting training guide by Ian Ferguson*
Ong pat look like he's seen some shot with that awesome beard
May the fourth be with you always
is it me or is there no foil boxes?
dont even need to get close to the carts in that pic. can see they're fakes from a mile away
He also has diddy kong pilot
EASILY counterfeit, look at the oval above the labels. The Crystal one is a GBC game with a bubbled out oval. Those stick out way too much.
Selling for a friend, whatever
I appreciated the Plinkett quote!
I know the crystal is fake...why because crystal wasn't colored like gold and silver, it had the clear game boy color only cart
This shit is why I usually don't go for complete in box GB/GBC/GBA games as there are so many fakes out there, but If I'm out thrifting, and do happen to come across legit GB/GBC/GBA games with their boxes, and manuals then I just consider it a bonus.
I'm just lucky I have a great retro shop nearby.
oh yeah.. the evil guy is back! ... nice to see you evil guy! ...
lol! I can tell the crystal is an obvious fake. a legit Crystal cartridge is clear sparkling cartridge, and it doesn't have the indent at the top.
there are a bunch of these reproductions on ebay from China. the ones I've seen are less than 10 dollars though
Scumbag Seller... My local Walmart. They sold Pokemon Diamond for Gameboy Color (telefang) on the Nintendo shelf.
I'm fine with repros as long as they are cheap and list it as a repro. I want to play conker on N64, but not bad enough to pay 100+ dollars to play it.
Can anyone else see that the crystal shell is the wrong shell?
Dude In China you can get all 7 repro Pokemon games for 30$ complete lol
Those boxes were definitely fake.
I'm glad I retired from Pokemon years ago.
i sold me metroid zero mission on eBay. im not a scumbag who sold a repro because my copy was bought at launch. didnt go for much tho
Well some idiot got this for $81!! CONGRATURATIONS!!
It sold at the 3rd bid for 81 dollars.
the cardboard is upside down, not that you couldn't just flip it, but that may be why it seems weird to you ian
I found a nice scumbag seller on amazon that sells homemade amiibos uploaded on blank NFC chips for 19$ each.
I fucking love this segment
This are not mine
