Fuji Superia, my favourite film, and don’t underestimate the plastic Minolta cameras. The tech in those things was the best, especially considering that Minolta were leaders in many innovations in the film era.
Great video! Love these 90s Slrs as it's what my parents were shooting when they met and as I was growing up. They both had matching Canon 1000FNs and now my girlfriend is shooting my mom's one alongside a T2
Aaron Fleming This is actually a 2000s' camera. The best possible metering you could get on any film camera happened during the early days of digital. No one really cared because digital offered "unlimited" potential, so these film cameras from the 2000s are the most complete cameras you can buy today. Funny enough since everyone is looking for the most vintage cameras out there, meanwhile these cameras cab be had for next to nothing.
I came across this camera in a big ol' lot I bought at an antique show. Another Maxxum body had a Sigma 24mm f2.8 lens on it, so I put it on the Maxxum 5. OH LAWDY, it was great! The 5 body is tiny! With the 24mm it's pretty compact and the Sigma glass produced great results. I figured it'd be a re-donate camera but it's now a part of my regular rotation.
A photo should make you feel something, and that has nothing to do with sharpness or speed. I think the photos was great. Awesome to be shown this basic setup creating really nice photos, when its more than often the 1000$ cameras is the only way to go when you look at social media. Keep it coming!
Good video - love the travelogue stuff. You had some great snaps in there. I literally just picked up a similar Minolta Maxxum XT si camera (with a Quantaray 28-80 kit lens) in a Tamarac Holster-Type Bag with a Minolta 70-200 zoom at a thrift store in Yuma for $29.75 for the whole shooting match (pardon the pun). Needed a pair of new CR2 batteries (which were almost as expensive as the camera ($22.18 at Walgreens) and dropped in some Fuji 400 Superia as a test roll. You have taught me well. Cheers.
Wow! That's so pricey o. Those batteries. I'd suggest buying them online. Or ive heard Staples will price match online e stores. Might be a good idea in a pinch. Thanks for watching. Trying to do more quick little videos like this
Another great vid! Mexico is such a colorful place, full of photo opportunities. I also think this cameras are pretty undervalue, here in Australia you can find them for as cheat as $20, keep them come by dude!
Great little camera to be fair especially for the money. So cheap these days (here in the UK). I bought my original D5 with 28-80 for £22 (around $33) and just got a spare one with 28-80, 75-300 with minolta bag and several rolls of film for £32 ($43). LIke you say if it's gets lost, stolen or broke they are so cheap to replace it doesn't really matter :)
Love the content . Super basic this camera is most def not. This was the the last film camera Minolta made . They packed this lightweight camera with tons of features and advancements they had made up to that point . The meter in this camera is one of the best ever put in a film camera . But shhh don’t tell anyone there dirt cheap .
I miss Derek... lol Nice video. I got a similar build camera, but it's the Canon EOS Elan II which I got for $20 off eBay and I use my nifty-fifty EF lens on it. Pretty cool.
hey man, just wondering, how did you bring this camera around? did you wear it around your neck or did you put it in a bag? i'm going on a trip soon and i don't really want to hang it around my neck. is it sturdy enough to just throw into a backpack? thanks!
Nah, we cooked most of our food this trip... And it was just a taproom. Had some good craft beer though... I think it was called Fronteras, right at K-38
I got mine for $40! 50mm 1.7 is a great lens as well and super cheap. Another cool fun fact : I you can use all the af lenses with Sony alpha digital bodies with the la-ea4 adapter. Don’t forget about the neat feature where it can choose the af point by tracking your eyeball 👁
I found this camera looking through my uncles junk lol where did you get the film developed if you don’t mind me asking and how did you get the digital copies ? Sorry I’m a newbie 😅
2 ways. Take the roll to a photo lab or shop where they print photos and let them scan it for you to tiff file so you can edit if you like. Second option is to buy the epson v600 or v800 on Amazon and scan the negatives. Hope that helped
It's funny how cheap gear liberates you. When I travel to Baja for work I drag along a ton of expensive video gear. For play it's either a Nikonos, Canon QL17 or some small 35mm point and shoot. And I never have to worry about weather I'm insured well enough. And if someone wants the camera more than me... well can I just have the film first?
Nice! , XD I'm from Tijuana Mexico and I swing my Hasselblad 503cx with out being afraid of getting it Stolen . Next time if you come back to Rosarito / Tijuana DM me and I can show you the cool places around . Film shooters are blooming here too. So you are very welcome to visit Tj! :D.
Yeah these late model Minolta cameras are dirt cheap. They make fantastic point and shoot because of the great AF ( well for the time), metering, and other features.
Ha, I think I just searched for flamenco or something when looking for music. I liked the suspensful vibe of it. Derek and Adam are in London, I think til the end of Sept
Miss you too dude! we will be back in no time!
Quit your job. Come home! We have videos to make! The people demand it!

Just picked one of these up for £20 off of eBay, was a bit nervous about the quality etc until I watched this vid. Thanks man
Minolta Motha f*ckin GANG!!!! Loved the photos dude, that Fuji gave out some nice pastel colors was it shot at box speed?
Gaaaaang! Yep, box speed! It's the only way to go! ;)
Just bought one of these off EBay for 30 bucks. Can’t wait to play with it!
Score! Have fun!
Great video and photos. I love my stsi
I feel like superia looks very true to life. A lot of the stills look like your video footage. Love the vid
Yes! Haven't shot this film in a while. But will definitely have to keep it in my regular rotation
Great video! I love many of the photos you take
Thanks so much!

People always underrate minoltas
Agreed, this thing is certified awesome!
I found it for $10 and it works now to test it out!
Bro keep the videos coming!!!!! Loved the pictures btw.👍🏼
Thanks so much!
I LOVE the color palette. I think it suits the subject/location super well. Nice shots :D
Thanks so much!

Yes! That's exactly the message I've been trying to get across with alot of my videos :) thanks so much for watching!

Nice video you took great photos
Thanks! 🙏
Those are awesome shots! Great camera too.
Thanks so much, yes I was pleasantly surprised myself
superia 400 is a great film!
And pretty cheap too :)
Another great vid! Mexico is such a colorful place, full of photo opportunities.
I also think this cameras are pretty undervalue, here in Australia you can find them for as cheat as $20, keep them come by dude!
Oh I'm keeping them coming! Don't worry!
I think they came out great.
Thanks!
Great vid man.
Thanks!
Just bought this camera and also got a Minolta Maxxum AF 50mm F1.7 lens to go with it. Excited to try this out
These are some solid cameras :)
Man those are some really good shots! Also what is your favorite Mexican beer? I'm more of a Modelo guy.

Have a maxxum 5 it is very good camera!
Heck yes!
Somehow Ive stumbled upon 2 Maxxum 5's and bought them both for 5 dollars each!!
The Maxxum 7 and the 50mm f1.7 was my go to before I got the Leica.
I was actually surprised how great the photos came out! I've got that 50mm lens too. Gotta test it out
I've had people say it's their favorite 50mm.
Dmitry Koupriyanov it’s very good. The shutter is the thing that turns me off from using the maxxum 5 more. Loud slap with a real whiny sound.
Loud is what you get with a SLR. But never used the Maxxum 5 and not sure if the shutter is the same for the Maxxum 7
Have you made more vids with this camera? I suggest trying out Kodak pro image 100 if you, it's warm by nature.
Ive since sold this camera. but I will definitely try to do a video on Pro Image soon
hey can ik how did you transfer the images ?

Yea, it's a great little camera, it was just geared towards the consumer market so it's unassuming
Cool camera... and this photos come very good :) I must find this camera :))
They made a bunch of similar models.
@@AwesomeCameras ok...ok...I try see what name fill let me find. 😊👍👌
Found mine at a thrift store for 15 bucks! Works perfect!
Niiiice
I miss Derek... lol
Nice video. I got a similar build camera, but it's the Canon EOS Elan II which I got for $20 off eBay and I use my nifty-fifty EF lens on it. Pretty cool.
Yes! Love the Elans!
Nice! Did you rate the film at box speed, or bump it up a stop or so?
Box speed for me.
Are you just scanning the photos to digitilize them?
hey man, just wondering, how did you bring this camera around? did you wear it around your neck or did you put it in a bag? i'm going on a trip soon and i don't really want to hang it around my neck. is it sturdy enough to just throw into a backpack? thanks!
Amazon sells the perfect bag for that camera
Waaaaaallmaaaart
Did you eat at Puerto Nuevo II? Also was the brewery you went to Agua Mala?
Nah, we cooked most of our food this trip... And it was just a taproom. Had some good craft beer though... I think it was called Fronteras, right at K-38
There's a lot of really awesome craft beer these days in Baja. The TJ scene is really popping

50mm 1.7 @ 1.7 with fujicolor 200
Ya, I saw that feature. I love it on my Canon Elan 7e, but haven't set it up on this Minolta yet...
I found this camera looking through my uncles junk lol where did you get the film developed if you don’t mind me asking and how did you get the digital copies ? Sorry I’m a newbie 😅

That music is crucial.
Ya, it really tied it together :)

I do wish I had taken my nikonos on this trip 😬
Please load your film in the shade. Oh, and an ISO 400 film is way to sensitive for such bright conditions.

That would be amazing! Would love to explore the city more!
Hi!! Greetings from México :D
I miss Dereck!
Make more polaroid videos!
My next video is all Polaroid, feat. Derek and Adam! We filmed it before they left!
@@AwesomeCameras can't wait to see it!!!! 🤣

Last I bought it for was about $3 per roll
Nice music! What is it?

You girlfriend shot better portraits. Good video

Agree 💯
Got one for $20 and gave it to student. Ps: that music was Spanish Mediterranean not Mexican so it through me off lol pps: where the hell is Derek?
