You don't even need the best equipment. I use two $15 lights from Amazon, a lamp that was laying around, and two small lights that were collecting dust in my basement. I use my phone's camera and it works great. I do use Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop, and sometimes I use After Effects.

you can just torrent photoshop and premiere...lets be real...that software is stupid expensive and for many people out of reach.
